You've always been heavy on the bling, Riz... 
I've got a few ships that I pile t2 gear all over - interceptors that I'm really confident in, things like that. For the most part, though, I'm pretty heavily in the cheapo camp: #1 all the way. Making isk is boring, and cheap fittings let me fight more without having to take breaks to make more isk.
I also tend to fight solo, so I run into all sorts of different combat situations. I'd say at least 90% of the fights I get into solo are either won by a large margin or lost by a large margin. In the former case, pricey gear won't make my enemy turn into a prettier fireball, while in the latter case it wouldn't have saved me anyways.

I'm definatly #1 when it come to fleet battles. I don't feel like I have as much control when in a large fleet. Thus I fit the cheapo stuff save for tech 2 damage mods.
Alone, or a small group, in anyship, #2 all the way. Well it would be as #2 as I can possibly get considering my wallet. No Officer LAR for example, but lots of other pretty stuff. More because my reactions and planing determains the out come more then anything. I feel more in control, and thus more cofident.

2 when im in my thron ( i get a wee bit mad when i lose one of those..cuz it usually only happens when i get ***ed by like a bazillion jamming scorps etc..  )
and 1 when im in anything else i guess

Some named stuff isnt worth what it costs.
I never equip stabs, for the sheer fact that I dont usually plan on running. :)

i never fit the very best stuff, but second/third line stuff is often almost as good, and the tiny difference between this and the best is massively out of proportion when compared with the price difference.
most ships i've lost have been by a huge margin, where having a billion isk worth of kit would have made no difference anyway.

I¦d consider myself a mixture between 1 and 2, not so much in the number 3 spot. But sure, when entering unsafe areas, the 3 has certain advantages...

Nr 1, cos Nr 2 is just not worth it. On top of it the added damage is not that uber at all :/

No.2 Because the added dmg really IS that uber 
No.3 Is pathetic but a lot more so called uber 'pirates' will fall into that category then admit it.
No.1 Is pointless, if you go looking for trouble and dont equip your best stuff you are letting your gang down and making it more likely that you will lose your ship and cause other people to lose theirs....
Of course the 'pirates' who normally do No.1 are probably about 100km out providing 'ew support'... yeah...
