Your data is secure. i dont think it matters how many data leaks occur or how often or to whom they occur some people are always going to consider themselves immune to it or that others bear the responsibility for it and neglect to take the necessary measures to limit how much of a victim they can be those people protect me while there are low hanging fruit to pick the criminals in the world wont ever need to try that little bit harder to hurt me in the wallet

As long as you are online your data is at risk; don't want your information at risk? Unplug your computer but even then that will not protect your information. Famous hacks: Google (almost entire database of information stolen by Chinese including source code)- this wasn't limited to Google but Google was the one to go public, DOD and others were suspected to be hacked; ALL AT&T Ipad 3g user's emails all went public in 2010 from a hack; in 93' group hacked inot NSA, AT&T, BOA and other banks and gained account information; Lockheed hacked in late 2011, SONY hacked (though mostly due to their insecurity SQL); Blue Cross exposed hundreds of thousand patient data online; Several states DMV hacked and accessed; Master Card hacked and 40 million credit card numbers/names/addresses stolen in 2005. This is a small list of the most current security breaches, go back to 2000 when people really started using the internet and you will be surprised how much information has been stolen, and these are only PUBLIC disclosures of hacks. It is well known within the security industry that several billions are lost every year from hacks that are never made public. These hacks include personal information that is stolen that companies simply cover-up. Back to your post, some ingame data has to be shared in order to properly integrate PS3 to EVE. In order to have EVE players interact with Dust players at least the name, location of a player has to be shared. I'm sure there will be some other technical aspects shared but they have no reason to share your personal info. Of course looking back at CCP's recent "new forum" fiasco where they sent your account details to browsers over unencrypted cookies shows CCP does have issues with basic security obfuscation.

We all know how lousy job ccp does programming. Letting bugs ingame that even minimal playtest would have found them before release.

I've always told people who have asked me that security, when put to the test, ultimately fails as long as software and hardware vendors effectively wash their hands from liability with TOS clauses that in general state "If our software/hardware is crap, not our problem". The fact that the powers and governments that be have yet to appropriately address that situation is merely a nod and consensus that the digital world is effectively broken where security is a concern. Unfortunately, the usefulness of the digital world makes participation mandatory and to hell with the consequences.

The developers obviously have to assume, as they expand out across platforms, that any one game is going to get completely and utterly cracked and design the entire server infrastructure to be able to contain the damage when that happens so that the entire tranquility database isn't popped when it happens.

It's another story for the newspapers and history. It will happen again to another company. It will never end because that's the game. My personal data due to hundreds of Internet crap sign-ups/Ebay/YouTube/Vimeo/Amazon and and and... is anyway spreaded "in da cloud". I just ignore. My bank account seems to be stable and protected (yet), I have a new credit card anyways and my life seems to go on. I can handle the SPAM **** because I just filter or ignore. Facebook is evil. Google is evil. The whole world is full of ashles trying to get your money and identity. Who doesn't like it should disconnect. NOW! Meanwhile SONY is licking their wounds, paying the bill, adapting... making things better. Or not. Who cares.

voiddragon	Posted - 2011.06.07 16:05:00 - [30] I wonder how long this subject will last for, because, seriously... there are so many incorrect and wrong arguments floating around the forums after the PS3 announcement and no matter how reasoned, logical and well laid out a thread presents the counter arguments as to why the PS3 is better for it, no one reads it. I mean, someone above me even said that ccp can do what they like with out information, quoting a clause in the eula that states clearly it only applies for government and law enforcement. If you're not going to read the posts and explanations why this decision was made, then why should anyone listen to you? TL;DR: Stop being a butthurt xbox360 fanboy and accept that this is not a console debate, but the PS3 is simply better for launching, maintaining and expanding Dust 514. As for the security concerns? Do you honestly think Sony is going to let that happen again? They're going to be working overtime until they're 100% satisfied their security holes have been plugged up. If that's not good enough, perhaps you should consider leaving all of your internet services as they have most likely been hacked in the past and never made a public statement or have made one. I'm done being reasonable though, as are most people. So / troll. Mmm, delicious tears.
