Well at least you'll have some money to buy a basic grammar book.
Tbh this should be in c&p where people enjoy tantrums. I hate ccp because of reason X that I do not understand because I'm so busy leaving eve that I don't have time to waste learning. It must all be used telling everyone that I'm leaving. It's like the kid with the ball that's going home, but sits on there kerb with the ball just so everyone knows he's going home.
In a game that survives by forcing people to stretch their minds there's always been a surprising lack of said people

Simply put, the Xbox360 is just barely a viable gaming machine. Cross platform titles need to be dumbed down to the ability of the weakest system (i.e., the 360), so, much to the lament of frat boys across America, the superior processing power and true 1080p quality of the Sony console will be fully used.

Right.
I'm sure its smaller playerbase, hacker friendly network, and pathetic online service will make DUST a huge success.
I would have bought DUST 514 in a second if it was released for Xbox or PC. I am sure there are many with me in this boat.

There are over 20 million active XBOX live accounts out there and 39 million XBOX's. That's more than one person.
Not to mention the quality, security, and reliability of XBOX live is much higher than the PSN network.

Just seems dumb to so drastically reduce your potential market. How many EvE players would have picked up DUST 514 that now won't bother.

Edited by: Vernath on 08/06/2011 00:33:06 I think there's more to the PS3 exclusivity than you guys are giving credit to. Maybe Microsoft can't support a micro-transaction model on their system when it will be AUR and not MSP that is purchased? Maybe MS wont support cross-platform gaming on the 360? Perhaps there's an issue with the sheer frequency of the updates necessary in a persistent world that xbox live can't handle? Maybe problems arise from simple things like market availability, wallet, or sov updates. Maybe its the integration with EVEgate or the ability to join EVE corps. Who knows? we're not the ones trying to make a game work. I trust that CCP made this move because it was the only way that DUST could work at all. DUST was originally slated as a cross-platform game, and I doubt CCP just decided on a whim (or a check) to alienate the majority of console shooter players.

LOL... fanboy is upset his toaster got insulted. Have fun playing movies for most of the PS3's lifecycle?
How does it feel to have the biggest service outage in gaming history, and worst user data breach in decades? Sony has been a massive joke for years... only think keeping it from dying is blind fanboys who can't live without their kiddy anime exclusive titles. Xbox's network has always been superior, and every game that's been on both consoles has been identical graphically. Keep thinking the PS3 is supremely more powerful and looking for excuses to convince yourself you paid 400 dollars for more than a bluray player.

I don't know. When you think about it, Dust 514 will increase exposure to the EVE universe. I don't think that it will have much of an impact on the life of the vast majority of EVE players. For example, if Dust 514 makes it a pain in the ass to do PI, I will not do PI. Leave it to the people who want to deal with that.
As it stands now, there is very little reason to care what happens in Dust 514 because for all practical purposes it is a different universe. I have yet to hear a good analysis of what it will mean to the rest of New Eden, even from CCP.
Now, I will say this: With CCP trying to push the "immersion" aspect of the game, I would caution them. If the obvious solution to your losing a PI installation is that you do a tactical strike from orbit, then not allowing that will break the immersion. On the other hand, allowing it will make the entire thing senseless.

ahahaha look at this raging bitter fanboy.
You might need some reading comprehension yourself m8, he said active online users, not consoles sold. Also the information you linked is even incorrect (From a playstation site no less, trolol), current sales figures are ~55million 360s and ~51million PS3s.
Also while we are on the topic of internal specs, you're wrong again. The 360 and the PS3 have the same amount of RAM (512MB DDR3 on both, although the 360 has a 10MB EDRAM buffer where the PS3 does not), their GPUs have the same processing power (500Mhz ATI chip in the 360 vs a 550Mhz Nvidia chip in the PS3). The CPU on each is rather different though, with the 360 having a tri-core system while the PS3 uses 7 microprocessors to give it better physics processing capability. As someone mentioned above each multi system game is exactly the same on both, in terms of quality. Also as far as your 'true' 1080p goes, both systems support it. It generally comes down to the TV, not the system, whether or not it can be used. (Which is where the 360 has another advantage with it's monitor support).
Now we get to the fun bit. PSN vs XBL. The main advantage the PSN has going for it is that it's free, but it appears that comes with it's own heavy price with the recent succession of hackings which have resulted in PSN users having their information stolen. XBL is a supcription service, but has no such issues. XBL also has better support, and better infrastructure than PSN (Again because it is a paid service).
tl;dr, the consoles are more or less the same, it just comes down to title preference. (Which ironically enough, playstation is also losing with the loss of exclusivity on several major series such as Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, and Devil May Cry)
So next time you decide to be a raging fanboy, please get your facts straight first mmk? Also insulting the quality of anything is pretty redundant with the current 'quality' of Sony's security. (Plain text file data storage wololo) ------

One way to think of it is CCP is trying to expand its client base by moving away from the PC with Dust. You also have to remember that the systems that run a game differ to each console which makes them more expensive for each system they can run on. This means that it could cost a good chunk of change and man hours to recode a game for a different console. Lastly I think the way they link Dust to Eve will open the doors to cross system gaming in the future.

XBOX? PS3? I want to see Dust on Wii, why not Wii? I also want to see bowling alleys in EVE stations so we can bowl while people are camping us. It would be very cool to get also some tennis courts in. And make sure that you save all my credit card and player data inluding my password in SECRETDATADONTLOOK.TXT file.
I also want a clothing shop where I can dress up my captain into latest fashionable clothing designed by GUCCI or by CHANEL. How about a Tinky Winky bag from Louis Vuitton that would match my uniform?
Or how about just fixing EVE for those who still like playing it?
But I need to point out that CCP and SONY are perfect match for each other and I can see great sucess is ahead of Dust.

First this thread looks more like a PS3 VS Xbox thread instead of what it should be going about. allthough the tittle of the thread says : why ccp sold out its fanbase for sony I don't see anything related to that in the ops thread.
Now I don't play on a Xbox or a PS3. but looking at it from a personal view, the main reason why Dust comes to the PS3 is probably because of the Free network. If this would actually be the main reason, CCP probably had several talks with Microsoft and they just didn't came to a good deal. So the angry people should point there faces towards Microsoft aswell.
Again i don't have a PS3 or a Xbox and i don't give much to anything about PI in EVE or the Dust release so this is just a neutral view on this matter.

Blame microsoft for the fact they won't be seeing dust. Their development is just too restrictive. Also, knowing microsoft, they'd have demanded that it be labelled as a microsoft development with no mention of CCP...
And as for the whole hacker friendly thing -
a) If a group of competant hackers wants to **** with you, no matter how good your security is, they'l find a way eventually.
b) It's not like microsoft products haven't been getting hacked EVERY DAY for the last 2 decades. Seriously, i don't know anyone that has ever paid for a copy of windows or office. Not to mention when XBOX live was hacked and accounts stolen in 2007...
Awfully short memories on these xbox kiddies...
Also, lol codemasters has just been hacked - "The most worrying thing to be pinched were encrypted passwords, Xbox Live Gamertags, email addresses, user names and that kind of data."

Maybe, just MAYBE, CCP didn't sell us out to Sony. Maybe what happened was that CCP refused to sell us out to Microsoft.
Microsoft very well may have required CCP to use only their servers, or to make it a 360 exclusive, or for CCP to hand over the copyrights in order for the game to be on their servers. It's possible that Microsoft saw Dust 514 as a threat to its Halo franchise, and refused to do business with CCP under fair terms.
Oh yes, and "release it on all 3 platforms at once"
So you are suggesting that CCP have this game running on the Wii? ----------

Man always so fun seeing a bunch of childish fan boys fight over witch console is the best.
When it comes to why CCP picked Sonys was like I heard Hilmar had to do with legal stuff and some rules if I remember it right Hilmar said during Turnament 9 day 2 it had to do with Microsoft had some stricter rules that would make it harder for them to make Dust possible on a 360 something like that go watch day to again when they talk with Hilmar he tells the reason why ps3 over 360.
Instead of being some childish fan boys trying to prove that you know every thing in the world about Microsoft or Sony, when you donŠt know ****.
