Edited by: Hiroshi Nagasaki on 07/06/2011 22:13:21 So... I have been looking into this problem for about 1 week now and currently I'm out of ideas what I can do to solve this problem...
Since the last patch I seems to have critical Eve crashes which freeze my system too (last pictures on the screen is the Eve client with graphic errors) but the system only crash while I play eve (all other games working fine)
System: 2x Nvidia 8800 GTS 512 4GB RAM XP x64 SP2 Quad Core 2,4 GHz
so... this is a list with things I already tried: - Benchmarked the PC to hell... (GPU test/memtest/cpu tests/hdd tests) - tried several other games - tried different eve settings (low/high/sound on-off/1 client/multiple clients/fresh installation) - developed one of the graphic cards - developed all HDDs and installed a complete new empty and reinstalled Windows - measured the Voltage - tried different (old) drivers for Graphic/Mainboard
so... my system is working fine except with Eve Online... I hope anyone here has the same problems and a good solution for me :) thx
edit: the crashes are total random... between 10min and a few hours, the Eve LogServer showed nothing |

Now this comes right from top of my hat and I'm not really even sure is this problem/card related but here goes...
Some fellow had similiar issues in some other thread with some newish card and someone else knew the issue and offered latest beta drivers as solution.
anyways was just random throw - perhaps helps, most likely not.

Checked drivers against the ones available, and they were current. Downloaded the driver and reinstalled it anyways, still getting the same issue.
Thanks for the tip, too bad it didn't work

Updated client, the client itself was never crashing as reported by others. It is crashing my display driver. Crash log from the driver same as before, log shows nothing.
I'm still crashing my display driver at every session change. I have updated the driver, tested it against other games, rebooted my machine, cleared the cache and even fully reinstalled EvE. Seems that when I go through the gate, the screen blinks black. 2/3 (maybe down to 1/3 now) times the driver will self recover, I get a popup in the lower right hand corner of my screen saying that the driver has recovered from a critical error, .xml from the crash is same as I have posted above.
Welcome to day 9 of not being able to undock without having to reboot my computer.

Not quite a system freeze - but very similar - when trying to remotely set of manufacturing jobs I often get the 'calculating quote' box grabbing the focus and as the progress bar moves all the way to the right and never finihses it never lets go of the focus.
This means that you are then unable to click on anything else in eve because you cant get rid of the focus on that progress bar, only option is to log.
The client itself doesnt seem to have frozen completely or disconnected as you can still see other ships jumping, warping, moving etc in the overview. |

This is a nearly old bug
I have petition it long time ago and they told me that there is a work around if you choose again the Blueprint (so in the manufactor job you have to choose the BPO/BPC again!) and after this the job will start normal :) |

EVE has started crashing on me since the latest "patch"
Never had any problems before.
I tried using repair.exe......borked.
So, just did a clean install...all 3.8 Gb or whatever it is.
Client is still crashing. EVE is borked.

This issue has NOT been resolved. I'm still crashing randomly, and varies between just the client crashing, to complete system lock and meltdown.
Note, this only started happening after I incresed my computers memory - and NO, there no problem with the RAM; if have diagnosed and stress tested the hell out of it.
I went from 2 to 6 GB (and changed os from XP to 7 64 bit) - maybe EVE cannot handle more than a certain amount of RAM?

Just want to add that my EVE client started to crash on gatejump while minimized after patch two weeks ago but I must report that:
LAST PATCH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM!
It is now crashing less but it is still crashes sometimes on gatejumps and sometimes even while ship is in space with client minimized.
Luckily enough there is workaround to gatejump crash - it does not happen while you keep map open.

Edited by: Shadow K on 10/06/2011 23:04:14 Also have random freezes with EVE.
Odd thing is that the entire PC freezes. Black and white screens. Regardless of what I'm doing in the Game.
Had two petitions open for this and issue is still ongoing for more than 8 Months. Now have a Bug open 112711.
Hope this will help.
Windows 7 Enterprise MAPS Edition x64 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20Ghz 8GB Kingston RAM DDR2 GA-MA790X-UD4P Mainboard Club 3D ATI Radeon HD5670 2 LG Flatron W2242T Screens at 1680 x 1050 at 32bit.
No Hardware Overclocked!
ATI Drivers without CCC and any other stuff. (in case AI is troubling)
What I have done so far is downgraded my Graphic drivers to drivers that were released two years ago. Still this didn't help. I have tested my Hardware with Prime 95 on stress test Mem and CPU. GPU-Z running and tested with SiSoft Sandra on full details for 2 Days. GPU-Z and Core Temp always running in Background to see if there are any changes to temp. But all in the green. PC never crashes when playing other games on ATI card such as COD Black Ops; Fallout NV; Crysys; Far Cry 2 and so on. EVE/PC never crashes when using nVidia 8600gt
What I have running while playing EVE: Firefox 4.0.1 Teamspeak 3.0.0-rc2 Build: 14642 qt Version 4.7.2 Logserver Core Temp 0.99.8 (installed and running since crashes occurred) GPU-Z 0.5.3 (installed and running since crashes occurred) EVE Online 3 Times Window mode Kaspersky Pure (latest version)
Would be interesting to see if someone else has same hardware and no issues.
Edit: I do remember there was a similar post here on forum and one of the Dev's/GM's asked to open a bug report and post the bug id in the forum. But can't find the thread. |

Same symptoms as Arrenslew here. Same EventLog entry as well.
Win7 Pro x64 8GB RAM Integrated Intel vid card Intel Quad Core 2.53GHz
Basically, every jump through a gate seems to crash the vid driver (which win7 generally recovers after a bunch of flickering and such). Running in Windowed Mode using one of the standard resolutions. My last trip was 9 jumps and the only time the vid driver did not crash was for one jump I set autopilot. Also did not crash when entering a station, but on leaving station it did. Did not seem to matter if the client was minimized or had focus. Client has the most recent patch and vid drivers are current. |

I'm having the crash issue as well, currently running Win 7 64-bit with Intel HD integrated graphics. I have an i7 640LM processor with 8GB of memory.
Problem seems to be whenever a new session loads, either on undocking or popping out of a gate. I'll be entering space for around 30 seconds and the screen will flicker, then It will either say graphics driver recovered, or the game has crashed. It actually seemed to happen the patch directly before Incarna (with the capacitor graphic change), though I have been out of game for a month or so, so not sure exactly when the problem began.
I'm hoping there's some hint of a solution soon, but as of now the game is nearly unplayable. Much as I enjoy not spinning my ship anymore, not really sure there's much else that can be done in-game.

I'm having the same problem with the graphics driver crashing and recovering when I start eve and at every session change. -->This problem is not resolved<--
I have crashes to desktop on VISTA randomly, when running more than 1 client: "There a problem with eve.exe the programm will be closed" I cant get any .dmp files automatically. The .dmp files created with the task manager are 700-900 MB big.
The program crashes if you run the same exe twice or two different eve.exe files. The most crashes are happening when jumping to a gate, jumping through a gate and undocking.
I filed a bug report, but couldnt add the .dmp files. And i didnt get any help on this issue. I updated my bug report with the question how to send the .dmp files and filed a petition, but got no answer.
I am very dissapointed about this bad customer service.

I'm also experiencing freezing issues. It actually started a few months ago but it would always seem to be fixed temporarily whenever I re-installed or downgraded my drivers. Now since Incarna it's happening every time I play Eve. First I hear a pop noise through my speakers then my screen completely freezes. Graphics are not distorted or anything like that when it happens, the screen just freezes. System does not shutdown. I tried hitting the caps lock key when it happens to see if the Eve client is just freezing but the caps lock light on my keyboard isn't responding. This only happens with Eve. I've played many other graphics intensive games and never have any issues. System: Nvidia 9800 GX2 6GB RAM Windows 7 Pro x64 AMD Phenom 9750 Quad Core ASUS M4N82-DELUXE 980a Chipset
I've tried all sorts of load tests, memory tests, etc. Everything checks out. I am flabergasted. I tried doing a clean install of nvidia drivers, no dice. If CCP does not address this issue promptly I have no choice but to cancel my account. I am paying for an account I can't even use. FIX THIS CCP.

Then after Incarna after a few crahes, I changed my settings to performance. I was able to play for entire 2 hours, no crashes. I also changed my nVidia settings for my GTX 260 card to balance between performance and quality. After another hour, I changed the settings back to optimal. driver crashes on inital load before login and recovers in about 3 seconds. similar driver crash and recovery on most undocks, most jump with gate, bridge, or titan bridge. Began with first Incarta release, still not working right. if i run two clients it crashes two or more time when either client has a session change.

I seem to be having similar issues, I start up the EVE client, it goes to the login screen, I login and it starts to authenticate to the character selection screen then the client just stops exits and goes back to the Login Screen, I cannot even login now.
What I will say that I could login in to the game fine at 2pm GMT but after, from 6pm GMT onwards my client no longer works. I have also done used the repair tool just in case, the only other thing to do is re-download the client but I don't want to sit through 4 hours of download if this still going to happen. Refresh your petitions brothers & sisters. Same crap as pre-patchy and post-Incarna. I'm having random spacediscos at gates, stations, in gang, docked, etc, etc. Switched back and forth between drivers, settings, pushed in fresh copies of EVE, reinstalled Win and whatnot.
... and the bloody client is still crashing.

Yep. Issue remains. Though my crashes mostly occur in CQ even when environment is turned off. After the latest patch it only took around 10-15 minutes to crash instead of 5 seconds. I guess my petition stays open. Pft....

System just stays frozen until I either reset or shutdown my computer.
I have all the latest patches installed for Eve. If CCP does not address this issue promptly I have no choice but to cancel my account. I am paying for an account I can't even use. FIX THIS CCP OR LOSE A PAYING CUSTOMER.
I have similar, but only since incarna, and freeezes are not permanet, they last for one minute more or less, freezing my whole PC (sometimes i can move mouse, sometimes i can still use voice comunicator, sometimes its just dead) and after some time it slowly going back alive Max Kolonko |

I've had two complete computer freezes in the last few days while sat in station looking at the static screen (i.e. door) and not doing anything. Total lock-up but no indication anything is wrong until I try and move the mouse cursor or type, but I can't.
Between the two lock-ups I have re-installed windows from fresh, fully patched and downloaded a new version of EVE.

I fixed my problem aswell...
Seems like Eve used some new way for the engine that reveals a bug in my BIOS and this leads my system to freeze/crash (as I said it only crashs while playing Eve)

Edited by: Kariel Lateef on 11/07/2011 18:31:57 I had this also and did some research, some of it appears to be a problem with the Intel HD integrated graphics. There is no driver update that fixes this as of yet.
I solved it on my own machine (alienware M11x r3) by switching Eve to my dedicated video card as opposed to the integrated, this also improved CQ performance. (no I had not realized that Eve wasn't running on the dedicated card by default until I looked into this)
Here is the thread talking about the display driver crashes with the alien ware fix instructions.

I just started having problems last night, after rebooting for the first time in over a month an installing June/July Windows updates. My computer locks up and is totally unresponsive. I can usually get as far as logging in and seeing my character pop up in CQ, but that's about it.
I've tried driver updates for my video card, updating my BIOS, running repair.exe, completely reinstalling EVE... nothing.

Having same problem on HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with i5 core processor, 4gb RAM, and Intel HD Integrated Graphics card, Windows 7 Premium 64-bit. Get display driver crash and recover on most logins and gate jumps. Seems to happen when the "Checking System Navigation" bar message is visible loading. Have been having the probelm since one of the June patches (not sure which). Installed latest drivers from HP, but still getting the problem.

I have started seeing this problem too. Last week or so - no problems at all before that. No problems with any other games or applications - its all about Eve.
At first I was getting a nvlddmkm error message with windows vista and mostly the system would recover. Occasionally it would require hard reboot. Downloaded new Nvidia drivers - actually worse because now the system never recovers - always a hard reboot.
Tried with only 1 client instead of 2 as I usually run. System seems more stable, but not much. Still hard reboot somewhere between 2 and 20 minutes of play.
I am going to try resetting cache and using repair facility - but I dont hold out much hope based on other peoples problems on this thread.
As I never had any problems until very recently with zero changes to my setup this seems to be a CCP problem, and it is getting worse not better. I hope this gets fixed before my next subscription renewal or else I think I am out. Completely unplayable.

Im having the same issues logged on for the first time in ages last night and the game crashed at least 3 times within the space of two hours.
This is a joke, my current computer (using my laptop) is a higher spec than my old Alienware back in 2004 that ran the game without a single problem.

Still had the same problem until I also turned down my graphics card color depth from 32-bit to 16 bit. Flicker gone for now =D
Thank you for posting this. Ever since Incarna when I load the client it would cause my monitor to crazy flicker to the point that I was worried about what this was doing to my monitor and my eyes. Anyway after reading your post and dropping my desktop to 16bit this has now stopped thanks again. Why I should have to do this to run EvE when no other game requires me to do this is beyond me maybe CCP knows?

This is what is happening to me. ^^
I wonder if this will also solve my other issue where the eve client will just freeze up for 20 secs at what seems to be random intervals (although I am not sure if it does not happen more after using gates and undocking) before springing back into life. Time will tell but after reading this thread I don't hold out much hope.
