Hello,
Fairly new (Going on 2 weeks) and I have a question. I have a Merlin and on the info tab it shows I have 1 Turret and 1 Launcher hardpoint. But when I check the forum posting for Merlin Fitting Setups and the item database link below it is showing 2 turret and 2 launchers...I tried searching the forums to no avail. Am I just missing something? Is it cause I need to train weaponry and frigate up to higher levels to be able to use the "max" stats the ship can handle? Please don't paint me as an idiot, just ignorant. I have been reading a lot but sometimes it's hard to find the information you may need.

The Merlin has 2 turret and 2 launcher hardpoints. No extra training is required to access those hardpoints, though the fitting may be a bit tight until you get your CPU and powergrid skills up.

Its 2 of each. skills dont effect it its just a mistake in whatever you read. you might find a kestral works better in PvE its just a bit easier to use.

Okay so my Merlin, in game, is just saying the wrong stats then? Thank you for all the information, I bought a Kestrel too I'll try that one out also soon. Just Ratting/L1 missions/Salvaging right now to get ISK etc while I figure out all the game mechanics.

Edited by: Ranek Tes on 16/06/2011 12:59:01 I think I know your issue, I'm fairly sure I had the same problem when I was a young pilot.
The number of turret/launcher bays isn't shown by the number of turret icons on your fitting screen, but the white boxes below the turret icon.
Hope it helps (and that I understood your issue correctly)

Kestrel's probably a better PvE ship, for all the reasons missiles are good for PvE. Standard missiles can be pretty neat, for long range fighting.
But a Merlin can make quite a tough little nugget of a ship, with a ... at least credible amount of firepower to boot.

Well I checked again last night and my current fitted Merlin Still says 1 turret and 1 launcher hardpoint. I however was able to fit 2 launcher and 2 turrets onto the ship.. I checked another Merlin that I have in my ship bay and that states 2 turret and 2 launcher hardpoints. Must just be a system bug.

Did you already have one launcher and one turret fitted? In which case it would say there is only 1 remaining.
Oh and also, a kestrel is better for PVE.

here's the answer for you. The boxes you are counting shows the number of unused turrets and launcher slots.

Ding Ding!! You two are correct. I thought the information tab was an absolute, meaning that is what the ship CAN do, not IS doing. Didn't know that information was variable. Well that clears up a lot! Thanks again!
And yes, I am going to fit my Kestrel this weekend since everyone says it is better!
