I have no words for the loss. I never met him but knew the name like many others.
I will keep his family and friends in my prayers.
Despite my imminent unemployment I too would be more than happy to throw in some money if CCP can come up with a donation that benefits his family.

As a long time eve pilot and one who has flown with and against the Goons over the years my deepest condolonces to his friends and family. Eve is actually a small community and its amazing how we shape the game. My utmost respect for Sean "Vile Rat" Smith for his service to his country,family and his friends both RL and in game.

Just wanted to add my heart-felt condolences to Sean's family and friends. He was one of the few movers and shakers that could make even the quiet life of a high sec carebear dangerous and exciting. His contributions and sacrifices for our EVE community and IRL will always be remembered and appreciated.
I also wanted to add my thanks to TheMittani for breaking the story and keeping us up to date. You are closer and better informed than even the MSM outlets on this, and I know it's not easy for you. Thank you for sharing this with us. It really means a lot.

I didn't know Vile Rat personally, but I did read about him and the work he did on the various CSM blogs. I've been reeling over this tragedy. His death was senseless, but I wish that his soul will rest in peace. My condolences to his family, and to his friends in the EVE community. |

There are no words that can suffice when someone is so cruelly taken before their time.
My thoughts go out to his friends and family.
There were times in Eve when Vile Rat along with so many other goons made me so mad I could spit venom. I did not know the man, but I'll remember those times fondly and more frequently from today on.
It's a testament to his character that not only did he hold such affect and effect on the scale that he did in this game but that he apparently did the same in the real world. It's a true loss to lose a man so able to change the world around him. |
