Was less exciting than last year's final, but then last year's final was bad too.
I don't like what happened, but it's part of Eve and I'm ok with that aspect of it. My only real beef with it is that from a purely gamer aspect all that Hydra and Outbreak did is make it seem like women gamers can only compete if the men let them win, which is pretty sad in my opinion.
They both should have just fielded comedy teams and had fun with it rather than basically say "women gamers suck and can only win if the male gamers allow them to..."
But whatever, I've come to expect the majority of Eve's playerbase to act like a bunch of twelve year olds.

Yep. You're right. Hydra, well known for their sneaky bastardry, shock everyone by using sneaky bastardry to win. Also, water is wet, grass is green and bears have been confirmed to **** in woods.

I dont see why people are complaining. The finale was Eve in a nutshell. Why not give Hydra Reloaded credit for putting up two good teams in the tournament and beating every other alliance out there at the game that is the Alliance tournament. Sure it wasnt the best show for Tv, but they werent there to put on a show, but to win. And they did, and they took 2nd place aswell.
Well Done Hydra/Outbreak!

For the whiners out there - This is EVE in it's purest form. If you don't like it, then gtfo.
Which is a little bit sad, that this is the essence of EvE, cheating..... They would have honored EvE more if they had given all the viewers the best fight of their lives, really thrown themselves into the it.
This was just "yay, if you can make it we can brake it" attitude, and it's sad.
They didn't cheat - they both earnt their way to the final. So the final was staged somewhat, most of the rest of the tourney was raw battle, with very few shady backroom deals overall (and even some of those failed).
You want honour in an EVE final then enter the tournament, make your way to the final, and represent it yourself. After all, bad things happen when good men fail to act.
Personally I just want to turn a profit and am happy to sell weapons to both sides so to speak but you seem to be the one with some wacked out morality.

Whats so fun about watching a fixed tournament? You wouldn't watch any other competition if it was rigged?

I think the saddest part of this is that because of the level of Meta, the viewers did not get to see a lot of the other contender Alliances so much as take part. When Meta-gaming begins to interfere to that degree of ruining others' enjoyment of the game, there's a problem.
Fix your shi*, CCP.
P.S. - Great job, Hydra/Outbreak on winning a nearly completely rigged tournament. You guys are PR0.

It was played out just the way EVE is meant to be, backstabbing, alliances, going beyond the rules. All you whiners out there, come to null sec and see for yourself. Nice job Hydra and Outbreak!

Enjoy the experience, not the scoreboard.
What experience? All I am now is bored and dissatisfied and I won't bother watching next year. So I don't understand - do CCP not want viewers? What is there to enjoy? Some jerks who think being a jerk online is different fixed a match and bored everyone to tears in the live chat. Wow - so cool. I've never seen immature crap like this before :-D I'll REALLY make sure to experience more ASAP! LOL. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

Well that's pretty apt, welcome to EVE: You don't have to be the best to be the "best".
You seem to forget both teams fought through a bunch of other non-allied teams to get to the finals, unless you think they bought them all off?
While I agree the final battle was a dissapointment to watch, even had they fought it out for our amusement, there is nothing stopping them splitting the prizes however they want afterward.
We can then only conclude they wanted to see all of these butthurt reaction threads drowning the forums. Stop feeding them.

Should they take away PL's past prizes for the metagaming and fielding 2 teams too? Only difference here is the 2 teams met in the finals instead of being knocked out earlier.

Politics!? In MY EVE!?!?!?
Theres a lot of people in this thread who need to leave highsec once in a while and learn what the game is actually about.
It's an ALLIANCE tournament.
What else would you like .. all teams need to field equal ISK? All teams need to have the exact same total SP for all pilots?
You're all ****ing ******ed if you think the game starts and ends with who shoot who and in what order.
Yes, I will also accept contracts of your stuff.
n.b. - loved the tournament, including the final

So much bitterness and whining in this thread. It all comes down to one very simply fact. This year we (HYDRA) had a very large tourney team after the likes of outbreak and podla joining our ranks, far more than was required, so we sp[lit it into two teams, and each played to win. That's all there is two it. As soldat said, it was one team, and two alliances. ------

Rigging a match like this is cheating, cause the winner was not the winner.
Internet gaming really brings out the worst in people as there is no real consequence to their real life.
They still wake up in the morning perfectly safe, go on their lives, jobs, schools etc. etc. But when online they can effortlessly and riscfree become asses, and be commended for it.
Lets just hope that this works as an "ass outlet" so they in their real life become pure angels :)

Everyone know this and no one cares about it, what we wanted to see is a true match of skills in internet spaceship combat. So why not just let it fight and show us your true skill and split the prize in the end however you feel like.

The play it like 2 alliances with good pvprs, not like a schoolyard. You mocked every single player watching it. If your objective was that, you earned it.

Edited by: Greniard on 19/06/2011 22:23:55 so how do the brilliant minds of the Forums propose that these metagaming parts of eve are stopped from happening? Because "accidents" and "bad FCing" and such happen and everyone has an alt anyway.
To me this was just epic and the people who really put effort into the tournament won.
