Yes a can flipper thread (sorry), hopefully its a bit different tho. Iv just read one of the many other 'flipper' moans, and im starting to feel sorry for the new kids on the block who dont have any way to counter these douches Sooooo whilst im back in high sec and dont have much t do.... If i was to go find some wanabe miners, put my own tri in theyre can, and let them get flipped, would i be able to 'loldrop' the 'flipper' in my quick lock phoon?
In a nutshell my idea is t go to a noob system (or similar) bookmark a couple of newbe cans and then when i hear the sirens warp t 0 and get me a can flipper.
Any one see why this wouldnt work?
If the 'flipper' is stupid hes going to be neuted webed and scrammed not moving and have a battleship sitting on his face within seconds of thinking "har har im going to totaly own this burst lol" - Nulla Curas |

Edited by: ChromeStriker on 20/06/2011 11:37:01 Thanks for the fits the second one especially its a nice twist on mine but if sniping becomes the call of order il use my maelstrom, your idea would most likely be more efficient than mine tbh. I said phoon in my orgional post cos i was intending on dusting it off lol but the idea of warping at optimal with a double sebo 1400mm mael does sound fun - Nulla Curas |

You would need to have the miners using your can to put their ore in.
I think using a BS for this is a bit silly, as not the best thing to shoot at frigates in. But have fun, why not
I recommend you try Akianavas for this trick, its infested with can-flippers.

They're almost never alone. You'll probably attack one and find yourself jumped by 6 more. They don't care about your ore. =============================== Two words: Internet Spaceships |

Can flippers are generally looking for PVP. they don't do it for the ore. They are ready to fight, and ready to run if they think they have any chance of losing. Alfa strike with a quick lock battleship is the only way. pop them before they know what hit them. If you do though they will generally hold a grudge and pop you every chance they get, even if it means a suicide gank.

No you don't use someone else's can, you use your own can. It's only stealing from you if they actually steal from YOU

If you suspect a blob of rr awaits after they flip your can, "noob" them. boast in local how you're going to go get your bs, how it shreds all level 4s, and how you can kill ANY frigate or cruiser. Get them thinking about the juicy loot they're gonna get, (they'll most likely expect a mission fit bs)....... Warp off, brag and threaten some more, and instead return in an af or some other t2 that will shred them before their rr can arrive. Loot, give them a "gf" and get out knowing you played dumb and turned their trick on them. The dumber and more noobish you act, the less likely they are to check your kb or to have their backup ready.

I have to think that anyone with this poor an understanding of elementary flagging mechanics is likely to get their face melted.
Your plan will not work. They will not be flagged to you.

Kind of new to this whole area, does the neut RR/Cap become attack-able once it starts repping?

Annnnnd that is why i asked the question. if putting something into someone elses can makes it theyre propperty that definatly makes this trick a bit harder. (saying it like that it does make sense)
it might be elementary but its not exactly an often used mechanic (not in low/null anyway), iv tried hard over the years to stay away from high sec lolcanics but if it means i can shoot a griefer i thought id make an exception. - Nulla Curas |

To the OP.
Watch out for starnap and the corp concentrated evil.
As they will pretend to be a canflipper (they base out of akianavas) and then warp in 4 neutral RR to assist the flipper when you engage.

Can flipping - many miners jettison ore into a container (referred to as a jetcan) when they begin mining, and store the ores in it as they mine. When it's full or they're ready to move further along the belt, they warp back to the station and return with a ship to haul it all (such as a Badger). Jetcans are not secured, meaning anyone can fly up and take items from it; doing so is theft, and the thief is flagged to the owner, who can shoot the thief within 15 minutes of the theft. Can flippers take some of the ore out of the jetcan and jettison it into their own, then transfer all the ore over to that jetcan, hoping the miner will return and take from what they thin is their can. The thief is flagged to the miner, but once the miner takes from that can, he's flagged to the can flipper, who proceeds to blow him up.
Rep and neut refer to remote repairing and energy neutralization, respectively. Can flippers tend to have some backup; that backup may serve a combat role to directly help in destruction of the victim, or use modules to repair the flipper's armor/shields. Energy neutralization utilizes modules to drain a target's capacitor, taking away the energy he would need to use active modules (such as shield boosters). Warping also uses capacitor energy, and a ship with it's cap drained may not be able to warp away in time.
I hope that's a decent enough explanation; I personally haven't utilized these methods (with the exception of jetcan mining), so my knowledge of them comes from what I've read about and heard from other players

That helps alot, thanks! I hope I'm correct in unerstaning that canflipping is only with jettisoned cargo and that secure containers like the one I just shelled out 250k for aren't used for such tricks?

If you anchor the container and set a password, then it's secure. If you forget to do that, it's not.
Note that you cannot anchor it in systems with security status 0.8 or above.
If it's not anchored, people can not only steal FROM it, they can actually steal the whole thing if they come along in a ship with enough cargo space.
