Now, i know what some of you are going to say , and please don't tell me to upgrade my graphics card (because its a laptop with "Integrated Graphics") and to buy a new machine.
I am trying to use 3D-Analyze to get the test server working for me, as my laptop only supports shader model 2. I figured i'd try and see if i can get the test server working again for me, as if i manage to do so successfully I can still play eve tomorrow when the expansion comes out by doing the same thing to singularity.
However so far I have had little success, so could somebody help me figure out what to do? I understand that the game will be incredibly laggy if i did get this to work, but atleast then i could keep my skills updated until i have a machine capable of running the game.

As said by the creators for every other game you wish to run, try combinations of checkboxes for emulation and disabling until it works.

Good old Intel 945GM integrated has done me faithful for 5 years and I really dont have the cash to shell out of a new machine

Enabled log server to finally get to see the message that I need shader model 3 to run the game. Didn't notice this being mentioned in the patch notes...if there isn't a workaround I'll have to cancel multiple accounts...How did I miss that they were changing this requirement and why can't we just disable all the flashy stuff and stick with the older requirements? This seems like too big a deal to slip in quietly.

Enjoyed playing but have no intention of buying a new laptop or tower so i can play it. Xbox and one of the many other games out there i can still play will have to do.
Be interested to know how many people this actually affected.

I'm in the same boat.. I thought I heard someone from CCP Shader2 would still be supported you'd just not be able to walk around stations... this is utter bs.

This is a HUGE issue. I can play on my pc but my laptop is shot now thanks to the 3.0 shader. This needs to get fixed ASAP. How is it you can have people able to play one day and then in a few hours the game is non playable....

Eve just upgraded to many, many year old technology. You whiners are acting like they're making everyone buy $1,500 alienware gaming machines just to play.
If you can't afford to buy a used 4 year old computer then you really should be using your time to improve your lot in life rather than wasting it on a game.

You are the typical deschbag that posted in the other thread. The fact is that eve is a spaceship game not a walk around the station game. The fact that I have a desktop that can play the game is a mute point. The fact that the game played 100% perfectly before walking in stations came is the point. Most MMOs if NOT ALL have an option to run at lower graphics to avoid issues like this. For some it is not a simply GPU upgrade it is buying a brand new laptop since ALL laptops have integrated cards.
It is not "I am cheap and have no money" I assure you I have plenty of money and more investments then you probably can name. The fact is the shade update was unnessacary. People that are in game are already saying that the incarna updates are not worth the fps drop. I play eve to blowup spaceships if I wanted to walk around and sit in an office I would go play something else. Eve will always be a spaceship game.
Dont be a dikhead when talking to people. Certain people that cant play now have been playing much longer then you and probably are 100x better then you at the game.

Oh yes because people play eve just to spend all day long sat in the CQ's...and who the hell do you think you are trying to tell people what to do with there free time, if your machine runs eve GTFO and quit been a troll, if not there a que for the answers from CCP

I am having exactly the same issue ran fine before this patch an have been playing for over 3 years an now all the sudden i cant play because of shader 3??? i really cant afford a new laptop or pc right now running an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 graphics card can someone help me with a solution plz?

Been trying out 3DAnalyze to see if there's a work around but no luck so far, would help though if I could read the boxes on it

Its on a program called 3D-Analyze nothing to do with eve, just trying to see if I can bypass the need to have SM3

This is my 3rd account im sorry but when i loged in and it says after i downloaded the new expansion it tels me that my computer no longer will run the game?... i cancelled my subscriptions sorry not worth the bs and the lies from ccp. good luck

Just bought a cheap card off ebay for the work pc, so I can at least change skills.
A look at the dev blogs shows this was warned about -
Shader Model Support
But this annoys me a bit -

Yep.. I'm about done with this crap. I'll be closing my account because of this. EVERY game I have, and I have the most recent releases, can use shader model 2.

So, 9000 users, out of lets see, according to wikipedia, there was over 300000 accounts active mid way through 2009. Assuming some modest growth, lets say that's closer to 500000 today. Roughly 1.8% of the user base is affected by this. Not only that, this has been in the pipes for a LONG time now. So, basically, you're the dopey bastards that stood in the path of a slow moving steam roller and got run over. Now, you people of the small minority are trying to hold back the development and progress of the game just so you cheap bastards don't have to fork out a few extra dollars to get a capable video card, and lets face it, we're talking about peanuts to buy a video card with SM 3 support.
You were given ample warning, you did nothing about it, this isn't CCP's cross to bear, this is all yours.

Would as I've stated already stated and may other have involve them needing to buy a whole new machine, maybe you don't understand the way laptops are laid out, but they dont have interchangeable parts. So those peanuts your talking about there have turned into coconuts, sure if your offering to go out and buy me a new machine go a head, you seem to have plenty of peanuts by the sounds of it

Yeah im completly lost when i get there? can you maybe give me a quick walkthrough on what to click cause im not seeing check boxes just hyperlink options?
