There should be a special filter for R&D agents allowing you to filter them by field.
Also i noticed that the 'security' only filters to highsec, lowsec, and nullsec; it'd be nice if there was a more advanced filter allowing you to set the exact system security.
The agent level buttons at the top should be a bit bigger and easier to click.
there should also be a filter for locator agents as well
thank you for this input

Edited by: Sarmatiko on 21/06/2011 15:35:52 Or you can make character locator on any station like dedicated service separating this function from agents. Who is using lvl 1-2-3 locator agents anyway? You can simply grind corp standing to 4 (or less) and search your enemies without any limits and region restrictions. Also "locator" buttons in agent dialogues are annoying.

Sounds simple and awesome, judging by the blog.
I can imagine all sorts of advanced filter functionality being useful, but this kind of simplicity in data presentation is needed in EvE in many places.
More of these kind of features please.
I'm a big fan of complex models and dynamics, but that doesn't mean the interface has to be complicated.

Hi CCP Punkturis!
Nice work guys. Looks very nice and long time over due. Personally, I don't run missions on this account anymore, but allow me to also chime in on encouraging you guys to add locator agents to the filter for searching.
I know I, and many people like me who have moved on from carebearing but have access to dozens of agents, would use this solely for finding nearby locator agents. ___

^^^ This!
But good job on the agent finder. I don't really run missions anymore, but when I was, finding an agent was a royal pain in the keister requiring using external web sites. I always wondered why this wasn't in the game in the first place when all the data was obviously there.
I must say the inability to filter to find locator agents is a glaring oversight, as that's a function that's used pretty regularly. And it would be easy to add that functionality as well. Just need to add a "Locator Agent" check box to add that parameter to the query, and you're good to go. Please make this happen in the future. We'll love you long time!

I like
Needs to be able to filter out Locater agents.
Needs to be able to filter out based on more precise security levels. Who runs missions in 1.0 space seriously...? I want to filter out anything that isn't 0.6 or 0.5, but that doesn't seem to be on offer.
Failing that, lets have it so we can sort by security (this might be possible, in which case excellent!)

Lookin' good and useful so far from what the blog says. Sweet.
Suggestion: A long time ago in a thread far away, I posted a request for filtering ability to be added to the in-game map, when selecting "My available agents", level/corp etc. I'm guessing the new Agent Finder doesn't link into the graphical display in the map (yet?), could it be made to do so? To explain futher, when using the new Agent Finder and IF the map is set to display "My available agents", could filtering be applied to the map's display to match the selections made in the Agent Finder? I have no idea how intricate or difficult this would be?

I think this is much to easy. This smells like wow. Really after the agent system remake, it doesn't get much easier. Open a faction, see list of agents, set destination, go. Yeah that is really tough... Stop nerfing eve. I love the suicide learning curve. Besides I don't eve full of stupid people.. Awesome! Dozens of hours spent to decode the really awful data export you guys give us, in addition to many late nights of writing and testing code to make a client-side Agent Finder, I get it almost ready to Beta, and you release this... WTG CCP for not giving us something SO SIMPLY USEFUL for 7 years and then when someone decides to leverage your new commercial licensing system you steal their thunder. Really failsauce.

nice to see you're so proud of yourself that you've been finally able to implement one of the most obvious things which should have been in game since the beginning; and btw which are available on third party sites for ages now. really congrats ccp |

Its cool looking but for me, its sort of telling of a bigger issue beyond the quality of your specific work (and what you've done does look nice)
...now i see another reason for the dumbing down of the agent levels.
There was something really special about poring over maps on one screen and chriba's agent locator on the other... looking at different stations in systems to optomize agent quality, proximity to story line agents of same types etc.
I really miss the textures that agent quality gave the Eve universe.
I don't run tons of missions but the interest in them came from trading and from datacores. The complexity of agent quality made finding the right stations in a region, or in a system an interesting task. I know not everyone trades that way, but it was game feature . Datacore is another intricate sort of thing that takes weeks of work to get into place for most of us and hence gave us something to play for.... the carrot of semi-passive income (you still need to go pick them up and sell them which entails a certain time cost) made me interested in a part of a game that i'd never take on without that carrot.
It's definitely lost a level of interest though looking at my 5 agents and seeing them all producing at exactly the same rate. Now its just a matter of getting the minimum requirments for a level and then nothing to oogle and oggle over.. covetting a bit better to entice you to grind a bit more. (and lets face it,... a lot of gamers find a grind satisfying... not all do but having a place in the game for it and a moderate reward for sitting atop it adds a facet to the game)
I can't imagine every wanting to research agents in game, just as I don't use the ingame browser unless to take very quick look at a pron link (any better links need to be cut and paste so i can read them at leisure while still looking at my overview and chat windows etc... but I guess some people still play with one monitor and don't tab out to use third party programs.

I'm sure it's been said already but why not add a region filter as well? Or 'within x jumps' filter? Sometimes you're looking for an agent within a particular favourite area.

You don't have to select a system. So if you just leave it on any, then you'll get the agents closest to you first in the results.

Speaking of locator agents, anyone else notice that they are all set to maximum time and cost now?
Thanks to the quality changes, they are all acting like -20 quality in terms of search time and search cost. (4 minutes for out of region and 250k isk instead of 3 minutes and change and just over 200k for any level 4 agent where my effective quality used to be very high) Which is cutting into my profits for running locators for other people. --

You don't have to select a system. So if you just leave it on any, then you'll get the agents closest to you first in the results.
So now I have the choice between flying to the region or using 3rd party app? It's probably not an issue when just looking for a mission agent, but when grinding for R&D agent status it's important to find a good place where there are lower level R&D agents as well as mission agents. Doing the R&D missions counts towards Faction mission count (sixteen), so you'll be working in different regions. For example, you have standing for lvl. 3 R&D agents so you find 4-5 R&D agents at lvl. 3 in a place close to some decent mission agents. This requires you to look at all regions to find the optimal area.
Having said that, then it does look very nice - good job

Okay, so let me get this straight. You just made it 'easier' for people to do this? How and why? What was wrong with oh, I dunno, DOING IT YOURSELF method. All it took was a Show Info > Agents. Really, how hard was that? Whats that you say? You had to highlight the text and, oh my goodness, right click it?! How barbaric. There should be something that holds your hand and takes you down to the pretty little land where missions are always five part faction missions... Why don't you just put a in game macro in to run the missions for them? While you're at it, take any level of danger out and never seed a level 4 agent into low sec. While your at it, cave at every cearbear cry and request on these forums. Heaven forbid anyone be forced in this day and age to turn over that gray matter that stops their skulls from caving in.
note* Missions in low sec are impossible now right? OMGTHEYCANSCANME! Pro tip to avoid being scanned in the new system: Kill them enough, and they won't try to scan for you anymore you whiny punk ass mother &(#!@
tl;dr i hate you for anything that makes eve easier

Nope. They're tied with mining as the most boring activity in EVE.

Could do with an "Offered Mission:...." piece of text on the agent details.
Much like any other game out there that has the "mission" mechanic. That way you can fly around doing the best missions, make "offered mission" a public thing so that it will change as people race about space to compete with others to get to the agent first to accept it.
There you go, missioning becomes less of a grind and its a drive to move people away from population hubs (the quieter the area, the less likely your nice AE L4 mission will get accepted by someone else) and further out in space (possibly 0.0 or low sec).
