Well I and others started doing that, but we also have a record of these strikes mostly just delaying the inevitable.

Yeah pretty much this. Whenever I tell people this story they just sit there mouth agape as they try to figure out how he managed the accelerator, brake, clutch, steering wheel and stick ... with nothing but two feet.
Btw RasTrent has a golden monocle on his avatar over in Crime & Punishment. No further comments forthcoming about -that-.

I belive RAW23 has coverd it. Just wanna add one thing,
- EVE started with a couple of people hooked on the C64 game Elite
I played it my self in my youth and loved it. Many did.
I did start to play this game in 2003, and the last 1-2 years that vision have changed. They are selling out the vision
for easy cash to support another MMO (world of darkness), and Dust.
I can see that the Engine they use is horrid. The Ligh issues, the mem leakes is a small thing.
- I cant understand how they can do anything with that Engine in WOD, and they are worse off than AOC (age of conan - funcom)
My point is that EVE is paying the cost of all this, and they start to sell their soul. They are not the first company to do this or the last...

I was attempting to come up with a clever "-gate" name for this, but I don't think anything could quite cover how despicable it is, if legit.

It was the only way to avoid PLEX skyrocketing. The demand now for aurum is almost null due to the prices, and this is a good thing (for the non PLEX speculators).
If the monocles for example were 1/2 of a PLEX it would have been available for more than 5000 players at the start, this would have meant a 2500 PLEX demand on the market with a large impact on prices.
It was the smartest thing to do. Smooth move CCP.
I am almost starting to like MT... not.

That is a good point and I have seen that line of reasoning elsewhere on the forums, it does make sense. If indeed that was their reasoning for the high prices, then we can also conclude that they felt that MT would disrupt the sandbox.
So on the one hand they didn't wish to shake it up too much, but on the other, they are still willing to touch the butterfly wings with the stain of MT. Either way, they are not absolved of the justified concerns and rage coming from the Sandbox Protection League.
