I agree that you waited too long to reply.
CQ is quite laggy. It's now less laggy for me to keep my alts undocked at all times rather than dock them when I'm not actively using them. This is pretty stupid though it did prompt me to buy a better video card (eVGA and Amazon.com may wish to thank you).
Additionally, most people would have had dev time spent fixing bugs that have been in the game for months or longer and improving some long overdue features (POS's!) rather than adding CQ.
You should just tell people Aurum was just you trolling us and refund anyone that actually bought it. Leave the store, the concept is good, but drop at least a digit off the price of things. Keep everything <= $2.
Reimburse everyone for that downtime. Wasn't your fault but will incur some good will from the player base (read: show you give a damn). I actually petitioned this and same the same thing. I got promptly ignored.
Just my two cents.

Originally by: stoicfaux Executive Summary * CCP cannot be trusted to make Eve better * CCP doesn't have the skill to make Eve better * CCP is no longer making Eve better So why should players stay?
Details
1. Newsletter The newsletter and the direction of MT is the biggest issue that needs to be addressed. It presents an attack on the core game mechanics that make Eve great. It also clearly and unequivocally demonstrates that CCP can no longer be trusted to be honest or forthright with its communications with the player base.
2. Features? CQ didn't add anything to Eve, a game about internet spaceships, player run economy and PvP. In fact, it effectively reduced some of Eve's functionality or got in the way.
2.1) For many players with older hardware or who run multiple clients, it effectively blocked people from playing the game for features that they did not want.
Meaning, your customers aren't paying for Space Barbie, they're paying for internet spaceships, player economy and PvP.
Incarna is effectively Bloatware. Incarna is the RealPlayer or Norton Anti-Virus of expansions.
3. NEX store The high prices of the NEX store are exclusionary. Incarna was hyped up but when it arrived, the NEX prices stated that Incarna was not for poor players. It was a slap in the face for a lot of your players. "Here's an awesome expansion!" followed by "But you're too poor to be let in the door. Get a job loser!"
3.1) The high NEX prices also came across as a crass money grabbing attempt.
3.2) The high NEX prices for Space Barbie accessories was an insult to the intelligence of people interesting in internet spaceships, et. al.. Seriously, 1.3 billion isk or 102 days of gametime for a monocle?
3.3) The limited selection of NEX items was underwhelming.
3.4) The whole NEX trainwreck has caused players to lose faith in CCP's competence, their commitment to making Eve better in terms of internet spaceships, et. al. and in CCP's integrity.
4. Focus CQ and NEX provide no improvement on internet spaceships and represents a huge opportunity cost to the players. Meaning, most players could imagine what features and improvements could have been made to Eve if those resources hadn't been so utterly wasted on CQ and NEX.
5. Inability to deliver Incarna's key features are Avatars and Captain's Quarters, yet what was delivered was underwhelming, incomplete, and lacking in polish. Given the development time, and that Avatars and CQ were key features of Incarna, CCP has shown that they cannot deliver the goods.

CCP Manifest:
Please tell me you are lowering the prices in the NEX. Note how it's a statement and not a question.
What's the deal with all the things we voted on, yo!? (Colored mining lasers, better POS interfaces, etc)
Fix bugs, when? Soon? Later? Never? "We've added your report to the existing bug report" -- I don't even bother to report bugs anymore. I just get told you know and basically don't give a damn. Real pro there.
Support. Will you ever get better support? "The logs show nothing" "The EULA says..." etc etc. It gets old.
Walking in stations is pretty cool, I admit it, but why does it take priority over the stuff that actually impacts the game? Walking in stations is just frills, icing on the cake. Icing only does so much. You screwed up. Go back and revisit things that need revisiting. I invited a friend to start playing a few days before Incarna. He got excited when he logged in, quickly grew bored and asked me what the point of it was. My reply? "Tell me and we'll both know."

You want out of this CCP? I got the perfect way out for you:
Put it in the LICENSE AGREEMENT!
Put in the license agreement you will not add items that give any advantage what-so-ever. Vanity only. So if you break this promise we can sue your asses off.
Just to be clear:
vanity (plural vanities) 1. That which is vain, futile, or worthless; that which is of no value, use or profit.

I've read every single reply. You, sir, need to answer the big yellow text that everyone keeps posting. 4srs. It's all anyone cares about. Now answer it so I can go to sleep and/or file chargebacks on all my payments.

CCP, link the AURA market to the player economy so players can earn real money from Eve, then just take a cut of the profits.
Works in theory, not in practice. Credit card fraud makes it next to impossible. Fraud payments, launder to legit account, turn into clean money.

Protip: Fixing old content is usually cheaper than adding new content and is a bulk of what older players really want.
CQ needed code (mid-high expense) and new graphics (high expense).
Bug fixes need code to be edited (low-mid expense) and some graphic retouching (low expense).
From my point of view, CQ adds nothing to attract new players (my friend that just started days before Incarna is completely unimpressed with it) and does nothing for existing players.
So if the whole reason for MT is to "pay for" Incarna expenses, remove it. We don't need it right now. Add it later when the rest of the game is stable and everyone is happy with it (in terms of features working and being available and the game being at where it needs to be, not everyone liking everything -- that's impossible).

Pray tell, what logic is missing here?
Well, a "lot" is an admitted overstatement. I was thinking specifically at the time though of the fact that _some_ people don't realize that NeX stuff on sale now can be purchased with in game ISK through purchasing PLEX.
It's a relatively small point, and I probably should have (a) been clearer or (b) not said anything at all.
There is a lot more logic being said here though and a lot of passion as well, and I don't mean to try to diminish that.
Bull. F-cking. Sh!t.
Yes it technically can but it can't realistically be bought that way by the every day player -- especially since you keep nerfing our income. PLEX prices were rising in anticipation of AUR and have only gone down a little (likely due to people realizing how useless AUR is now since everything costs a ridiculous amount).
If you are seriously going to hide behind that we can just end this now and I'll go cancel my accounts.

So I was on massively and they had a link to the now infamous newsletter, which I thought I had already read on evenews24.
But it said something about "missing pages". This peaked my interest so I downloaded it to compare to the first one. There are actually 20 pages in total in the original. It's pretty much the same thing, it appears the pages themselves were not edited, but pages were removed which dropped the context of the remaining pages. So while I'm still upset at those individuals my anger towards CCP as a whole has diminished.
The most notable line is:
DISCLAIMER: The views put forward in this magazine do not reflect general CCP company policies or decisions and are strictly individual opinions, written by CCPers or about CCPers who feel strongly about these issues. This is confidential internal information. Please respect that every company has its trade secrets and that you are privy to those at CCP.
Though it still upsets me that certain individuals at CCP think as outlined in the PDF, I do feel a little better with that simple paragraph. It definitely opens the door for them to fix it, where before I didn't see a chance in hell of that happening.
Compare them for yourself: EVENews24.com Version Original Version
The tldr difference is basically this is just asking people within CCP their opinions on the matter and doesn't actually represent any actual plans. I still want confirmation in writing and signed by the CEO himself before I believe anything that CCP says, but I'm a bit less ragequit-y now.
While this doesn't restore my trust/faith in CCP, it damages what little I had to start with in evenews24. Ok, well, I never actually trusted evenews24 at all, but now I definitely won't ever trust them :P

That is fair enough but surely it would have been easier for them to respond if this is the case. I really am surprised and disappointed that we still have no real response on this issue and our concerns.
Indeed. They are handling it very badly, but at least we can take some (just a tiny bit) of comfort it knowing it's not policy. At least, it's not policy yet. Lets hope this string of events prevents it from ever becoming policy.

you could have saved some time by just reading the links in the second post in this thread - CCP Pann has confirmed the newsletter. FFS browse a little before posting.
The newsletter is real, the one most of us seen (the one on evenews24) was edited. The one on massively (originally hosted by megaupload, ew, now mirrored by me and linked in my reply) was edited. Pages were removed taking the remaining pages out of context. Read moar.

Originally by: Reed Tiburon That "one guy" is the lead game designer for EVE Online. And read the rest of the newsletter too. This stuff is coming, maybe within 6 months, certainly within the year.
I didn't say it wasn't bad, I just said it was incomplete. And yes he is the lead game designer, I know this, so I still want answers. But the addition of the "maybe" changes things just a tiny bit. Going from "This is what we, as a company, are going to do" to "This is something I've been throwing around" is a quite a difference. To me, the feel of the newsletter changed from a "This is what we are doing" to a "here's an idea". Now, granted, it's a terrible idea, I feel better knowing it's just an idea at the moment, and not an actual plan that has been approved.
As for being "late", I haven't seen this posted on this forum, and others apparently haven't either. I'm still upset with CCP and this guy in the PDF, but before my assumptions were that CCP was just gonna tell us to HTFU and now I feel there might be hope that they see the light and agree with what we've been saying.
