Hello, I have a general question for the eve community. There has to be a reason why the CCP finacial department wants to move towards MTs. I doubt very much that CCP fat cats make a commision on every GTC\plex sale, so I would say its not individual greed.
A logical conclusion would be that CCP needs money just plain and simple, for dust,WoD and Eve Onine. CCP is a company and as a company its goal would be to be profitable. Minus the interns every one at CCP gets a check evey 2 weeks. they need money to pay all folks who write code and push papers.
CCP isn't google. its not a multibillion dollar company with stock tradeing at $480.22 a share. They made a board game a awhile back and used the money they generated to make eve. Board games are not as popular as video games so instead of making another board game they made a video game. they adapted to a changing market. It seems to me that they are trying to adapt once again.
In order to grow the CCP brand CCP needs to find alternative ways to produce money. They tried MTs and were met with the torches and pitch folks, They sold models and t-shirts and quafe, they started the plex program. So my question for evey one: If CCP needs the cash from MTs to stay a float and keep the eve servers running, what alternative ways can CCP go about generating income?
My thoughts would be to add much more content and incarna in general is a "step" in the right direction, in my opinion. people need to see value in a product before they throw money at it. If people have good reasons to buy plex they will. if people are entertained by the game people will sub and continue to sub and make new accounts.
This was pulled from the CCP website: CCP's mission is to attract and retain customers by providing top quality online entertainment. CCP does this by establishing and nurturing a trust relationship with customers both in terms of quality of content as well as quality of service.
I still hold grudges from this and past patches and expansions, I didnt agree with, but I think the trust can be rebuilt, if CCP makes a dedicated effort and shows me that they can be trusted again. Flame on!!
