Hi all,
well i have never posted here, but this will be my first and last post.
I hear people going on about what needs addressed etc to resolve this, but it should be noted and remembered that this company (just like the governments of the world and other big corporations) are lying to us and will continue to do so no matter the outcome of this recent revelation. When the world runs on an already dated/rigged monetary system then corruption creeps in at every level.

We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable.
All that said, I couldnGt be prouder of what we have accomplished as a company, changing the world is hard and we are doing it as so many times before! Stay the course, we have done this many times before. (end)
Whats with this stay the course crap
Didn't bush use that statement over and over again for his illegal wars :P

Originally by: CCP Manifest I find it immensely important, having read as much of this thread as humanly possible while still in an email/meeting/phonecall flurry yesterday, to let you guys know that Pann didn't abandon this thread on purpose. She had a family emergency in what is possibly the worst possible timing in the history of the internet, about 2 minutes after her second post in here. Everything is ok with that situation (talked to her yesterday). Whether you believe me or not, thems the facts. Saying that, obviously, on the day this thread began would have sounded ludicrous at best, spurious at least. Sort of like "my dog ate my homework" when your dog ACTUALLY ate it.
I haven't yet gotten to the blog responses, Facebook comments or reviewing Twitter hashtags. So please understand if I don't respond in a timely fashion in any venue and understand too that many questions simply cannot be answered directly. The nature of the beast.
The community team, likewise, has had their hands full with (as leniently as possible) enforcing forum rules and relaying information. We're all in it for the long haul though.
If some of my responses that I end up making do sound glib, I can assure you it is not because I don't understand the gravity of the situation at hand or the trueness of emotion/logic behind player opinion. It's because, frankly, of who I am.
Furthermore, if only some stuff gets answers or some seemingly random threads get attention, its also the nature of that same beast. Thanks for listening.
you guy's should be politicians because you are starting to sound like them
so nobody else could be bothered or capable of coming on and answering some questions? or did Pann have secret knowledge nobody else does.. or maybe you require more time to attempt to mop up the mess or let it calm down (lol good luck with that) i for one am already cancelled and out.

Hilmar did, he said "f' the players, they are tards and we know what they want better than they do, the poor fools"
That is the exact impression i got from Hilmar, guy sounds like a total *****ead

Yea Miilla i noticed that
You are wasting your time talking to Hilmar, he is too self important, pompous, arrogant and egotistica to care.
He atually believes Eve is an extension of the real world. He actualy beleves he innovated microtransactions into existence, and he actually believes he is changing the world.
He makes Steve Jobs look relistic.

Originally by: Besoina Microtransactions are welcomed, as far as i am concerned. A few vanity items are hardly worth unsubbing for. The system for buying ships through plex has been available for a while, this is no different. If the items are too expensive & provide no benefit in pvp or pve, then who gives a damn about how much it costs or if its even there. I say let the dumbass pay $50 or more on vanity items, more revenue for CCP.
Seriously, some of you take the game too seriously & that letter has nothing wrong with it, I would have written something along those lines as well, if I were working there. You folks have to remember that this is not your game, you don't have the responsability (legal or otherwise) to increase stock prices for investors. They need cash to expand & grow, so I say, let the microtransactions stay & let ccp continue their PR tactics, bad press is good press.
You seem to be the next generation EVE player, the type CCP and Hilmar wants. The one who doesn't think much, or care about being shat on. You spend money on MT, play for seven months then leave for the next cool thing.
Most of those that are mad are the seven-year players. We are leaving, instead of staying another seven years.
It might be just a game to you, but for us that have spent thousand of hours here, and thousand of dollares, this kind of arrogance directed straight at us, ****es us off.
Okaaay, i think this is a wake up call for you to do something more constructive with your time & money. Im sure that applies to quite a few of the folks in this threadnaught.
I can see that this is not about micro transactions, its about players who only just realized they have no voice, no control over a game they are paying to play. Get over yourselves & this entitlement that you seem to all have. Eventually when the game has passed it's time, they will pull the servers down & move on to the next project. All your hard earned time & money will have been for NOTHING. Perhaps then you will finally wake up.
If you read any of the posts you would see that it is not about having control over the game that people are angry about, but about ccp implementing mechanics that will ruin a game people already love

Even if they did say ok no we won't add those things..
What's the point in staying really.
They will just "feature creep" them in..
Either way, this is here now and comming later.
There is a wall, read it, and stop running or you will just run into it and cry after.
This is like telling politicans not to do something, they don't do it, then they creep it in later bit by bit.
You are all wasting your breath and time with this issue. Eve is no longer Eve, it is Entropia.
They don't care if you leave in masses. The new business model accounts for that.
Eve (Entropia) is now like a huge revolving door, new players come in, get mugged by the game, they leave..: repeat wrinse laughter.
This business model actualy thrives on the revolving door mugging model.
Pretty much how it looks to be going

Originally by: Faith Leon People, you need to stop logging in to make your point! The only thing they care about is numbers. Quitting is great, but for those not willing to go that far, at least take a weekend break. If they actually see people not logging in then they will really understand your anger. Logging in to shoot memorials/statues just shows you are willing to still play the game, even if it isn't in the way they envisioned. Happy, mad, they don't care, they just care how many people are playing.
The majority of the protesters are those with already canceled subscriptions, who still have remaining gametime to use, and this is how they are using it.
Got to agree here, as much as i agree with the other post also :P i am just finishing a 12 hour shift and will be logging in to use my remaining time to cause as much damage/hassle as possible.

Originally by: Adunh Slavy A Parting word before sleep, with no particular point, sure to be lost in the ever growing thread; lethargic if nothing else.
We're all aware that CCP so far refuses to answer The Big Yellow Question, and we've our fears about that. It seems as though CCP wants to make this all about the prices in the store, as if that is our concern. If we look at most of the gaming press at that time, it was to laugh at CCP's silly prices. CCP is not answering us, they are answering the press.
But the press is slowly pulling the story to the 'pay to win' issues despite CCP's best efforts to the contrary. Other MMO communities are starting to talk about what we the Eve community are doing and why as well.
We are CCP's past revenue stream. It seems as though CCP feels they can ride it out, make up new subs with 'good press' of 'awesome' and some cheap tacky space pants. That is, or was until now, their new revenue.
We have taken it beyond CCP's calculations. CCP used to always be proud that the community grew Eve to be greater than the sum of its parts. I think CCP is beginning to learn that the community does not belong to them, it belongs to us, it always has. Most of the time we're blowing each other up so we didn't recognize it quite so tangibly. That veil has fallen.
CCP can not ignore the gaming press, they depend on it. They must have it, they can not launch their new products or attract new loyal customers to a company with bad press. So far they have completely screwed them selves.
Well said

Originally by: Marc Goth what about as protest we dont log in game? that could be another strong signal for CCP...
good idea, but from what i seen last night when i logged in is that most players are no aware of what is going on, during the protest i attended all you seen in chat was, "WTF, what is going on" and when explained to them they had no idea, most of them though obviously do not visit the forums very often, so as much as i agree, its also good that people are in game ranting about it and making some noise to those blissfully unaware.
one other interesting point was the folks attempting to control the chat channels, most of them you could tell actually agreed with the protests, but had to do what they were told to do by ccp.

quote from article i was reading:
http://kotaku.com/5815445/furious-over-microtransactions-eve-online-community-explodes-with-rioting
"It doesn't help that CCP have been flat out lying to the face of the CSM - Council of Stellar Management (the player-elected parliament Owen talks about) about their plans, before releasing statements that state agreements that the CSM never made. Considering this was a council formed by CCP to reflect the interests of the players kind of shows you the level of dissent being arguably deliberately created"
Sounds similar to:
the american Administration/Bankers elite=CCP vs Congress= CSM
The smell of of bullsh*t/corruption is rife across the world at the moment in all area's and it makes me sick

Quote: CCP is in the process of adopting a virtual sales model for its game products. While this model has always been intended for World of Darkness and DUST 514, you may be wondering how this will work in EVE Online. Specifically, how will this new strategy unfold in Incarna?

[35]
The tone and demeanor of my blog on Friday did not correctly portray my emotions towards the community and player base at large. I love and respect EVE and its community on a level that's hard to really do justice in words. However I let my frustration take charge of me, fueled by emotions that had built up due to a breach of trust we at CCP have been experiencing over the past few days. I know that sounds ironic considering those are the exact same feelings you have been having towards CCP.
For that I am sorry.
Having cooled off a bit and taken a solemn look at the situation, I see it's clear we need to strengthen the deep mutual trust and respect that's been so unique and descriptive of our relationship. There are certain questions you want answered and there isn't room for more error in our communication on those topics or our perception of the root causes.
Therefore we have asked the CSM to join us in Iceland for an extraordinary meeting June 30th and July 1st to discuss the events of past week, to help us define and address the real underlying concerns, and to assist us in defining and iterating on our virtual goods strategy.
The result of this meeting should be mutual agreement of how virtual goods and services will evolve in EVE. Other issues may be brought up and we urge you to contact the CSM with your comments and concerns so that they may be addressed at this session.
However, just to prove the point of the Fearless newsletter and give you a further understanding of what it is then there are no and never have been plans to sell "gold ammo" for Aurum. In Fearless people are arguing a point, which doesn't even have to be their view, they are debating an issue. This is another example of how information out of context is no information at all.
Due to the volatility of the topic we want to refrain from any further comments on this matter until after meeting with the CSM.
Thank you for your patience,
Arnar Hrafn Gylfason
Senior Producer of EVE Online
