Are you going to **** the EVE Online sandbox over for Monetary Transactions or not? If not, all is forgiven. If MTs are going to impact the sandbox, start printing your resumes and god help you all.
The designs we will implement in game will not **** over the sandbox.
Is that supposed to be your answer to the question of whether or not you'll be able to buy non-vanity items with RMT?
I make a living negotiating large scale real estate contracts and spend the majority of my time sitting across the table from attorneys. That is the most lawyeresque redirect, side step answer that I could imagine. why was that the question that you picked out of this threadnaught to answer? Is it because it was easily redirected with feigned indignation in an attempt to change the course of the outrage of the rest of the community? Was it a weak attempt to make the rest of the community to go on the defensive?
CCP's PR department is as out of touch as the rest of their company.
The only answer that will stop the backlash and failcascade is whether or not non-vanity items will be available through RMT. Answer it fully and in a straightforward manner because all you're doing is making things worse.
Friday is my personal deadline. More evasions and non-answers and I'm out. I've got better things to do with my time than forum troll.
Sorry about grammer issues but I'm on my iPhone and typing is a pain in the ***.
This ^ CCP, your customers are a lot less stupid than you think they are.

Originally by: Mirage Excelsior I pay to play Eve Online. I dont pay for Eve Online to support development of Generic Console FPS, or Generic Twilight Cash-in. I pay for Eve Online, to be a part of Eve Online, to play Eve Online and watch Eve Online grow.
Perhaps CCP are confused? Since aquiring WW, it would seem that they have forgotten they are a development company, not a publisher. Perhaps seeing EA's crack vault made them envious? Maybe you have become/want to become a publisher like EA.
One glaring issue there though, EA has swallowed so many developers, owns so many IPs that people mindlessly rebuy with a higher number each year, that they can literally print their own money, you CCP, can not.
Never bite the hand that feeds you. See us here? All these people Angry/Sad/Happy/Indifferent? We are that hand, and rather foolishly you are trying to draw our left as well as our right to chew the fingers off of both.
Management should ask, what will Dust be without Eve? What will make it unique, or worth buying (already lost half your market with the PS3 exclusive) over the next CoD brainwash? Nothing. We may be your "Golden Goose" as some careless employee put it, but this goose is already losing its feathers.
You dont really have many options here.
1 - Return to roots, make Eve great, focus. 2 - Continue as you are, risk it all. 3 - Seek outside investment, or a publisher for other projects.
The day that you as a company CCP, forget that you need us, more than we need you or Eve, is the day you no longer exist as one, and all your dreams of fancy new projects will vanish along with it.
I know in the grand scheme of things, I am but a single customer, as are others who have stated their intention to unsub, or those who have done already, as and such at the end of the day I, and they, are little more than statistics to the suits that now seem to call the shots. One person though is all it takes to change the world. History is full of such individuals. I make no claim to be one of them, or capable of such action.
However, in this age of the internet, the most powerful tool for communication thus far in human history, word of mouth can do more good, or more harm that at any other point in time, more than any advertising or publicity drive can accomplish.
Much larger companies than CCP have fallen for the mistake of viewing the customer as little more than a cash cow, you cant milk the cow if you arent providing the grass it needs, and I personally would hate to see CCP end this way.
TL;DR - Ramble and +1 for sort your **** out CCP and fast.
Seriously. Reverse this bullsh*t and focus on the only thing you ever had going for you: A game about spaceships in space. You guys have no idea the damage you've just caused. I truly believe a CCP blog needs to be posted that says "We're seriously sorry, from here on out we're going to do our best to make the best spaceship game possible, and not pull bullsh*t like this ever again. MT's will extend as far as cutesy paint jobs or avatar stuff and it will be priced reasonably. We will bring back features that attracted players to this game years ago, instead of spewing out incomplete hunks of sh*t with the hope of cashing in."
For the life of me I cannot understand how this was not your objective in the first place.

Edited by: Wakeland on 24/06/2011 12:47:16 In the time it took me to scroll through page 111, there was page 113 lol.
I'm honestly at a loss for words. A few months ago I predicted CCP would bet their entire game on this expansion. The whole thing isn't even out yet and I won.
CCP: Please go back to doing what we were paying you to do, make and maintain a game about spaceships in space. PLEASE bring back the old days of engine trails and epic cynos. Balance, nay, TWEAK the pvp in the game, ITS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO to keep EVE Online a great game and not SpaceSims online.
And there was 114 in the time it took me to write this. The longer the day goes on, the faster this thread will grow. You can't ignore us forever guys lol.

Originally by: M14D I love these temper tantrums of people cancelling their accounts, or even getting themselves banned. You all do realise none of this is going ahead, right?
Every MMO company, in the span of their fortuitous career, has steered towards certain 'innovations' that don't sit well with the majority of the players. A fuss is made, and guess what? The changes never happen or they're reverted. Power of the people, etcetera.
You can take it too far, however. As per usual, people tend to go overboard in their critique and suddenly dismiss all of the good sides of CCP. When's the last time you've paid for one of their expansions? Where's the appreciation of CCP not constantly dangling a carrot in front of you like other MMO's (WoW) do? You progress and progress, only to have a next update hit and you start from scratch again. Not here. Your investment is eternal and will never be deduced to an achievement of the past.
EVE does none of that, it has respected its playerbase for a very long time. To keep doing this, they're almost forced into delving into other ways to keep the cash-flow going. They're, after all, a company. This may not be the road for them to take, but they had to explore it. They now know the community's reaction, and this will not go through.
Even the criticism about CQ's is absolutely ridiculous. "Oh dearie gosh, my computar can't handle this". Tell you what, I run a five year old system that runs it just fine. Sure, I handpicked that system years ago and chose the best possible components. Components that are standard now, however. EVE has always been a graphic-intensive game and what you don't do is blame them for graphical updates that put more strain on your aging system. I used to play WoW with 256 MB RAM. Try that now. I dare you.
So cancel your account if you must. If you're stupid.
The carrot is always dangling, in the form of your characters progression. In WoW there IS a maximum your character can reach. Not so with EVE, so you failed there. You failed again in saying they needed to keep the cash flow going: This is a cash GRAB, plain and simple. To keep it going (Read: maintain) all they had to do was make changes to EVE ONLINE that would benefit the game, be it balance, new ships, etc. What they did here was a failed attempt to reel in new money, new players.
Perhaps realizing they weren't going to be able to, because, lets face it, EVE is not WoW and the core sandbox gameplay is still brutal, (something which they should NOT change) they decided to put out something would never pass a quality control inspection. . . and only 1/8 of it at that. They have essentially downgraded the game with this patch. Your 5 year old system can run it fine? Sure with one account, its easily playable.
The pitchforks and torches are absolutely justified when Incarna literally makes the game impossible to play with: multiple clients, older hardware, etc. The MT pricing is asinine: There is exclusivity, then there is being forced to pay 70$ to put something on my character that was STANDARD before the avatar changes.
To top it all off, if you read 'Fearless' you now know that CCP expects us to take this in the rear, wallets open, because if we don't, player will be at a disadvantage for not paying more than their monthly fee.
EDIT: Paragraphing

Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change.

Thats probably only reason why this and similar threads are still alive.
Kinda childish, but enjoy your game, wonder why some company hadn't come with such idea of game minimal sub. Forum Wars. Create some hypothetical document and leave player-base to think for you.
No, not childish, I want this to be at the FOREFRONT of every waking thought for them over the coming days and do not want our protests to go unheard or let it get swept under the rug. Whats childish is their non-responsiveness, like a little kid giving the silent treatment. You're an idiot.

It's a sad state this has come to. And to think, CCP essentially had a monopoly on the Space/Sc-Fi MMO genre. Instead of keeping that monopoly and running with it and making it the best game they could, the best space game out there, they opted for Space-Sims and Vampire-WoW. Very sad.

Rens system is already feeling different, not the same "yarr pirate" feel to it, just "i love my monocle" feel which really isn't the same eve.
Market prices are tanking as people dump their assets en masses, PLEX prices have tanked as they no longer represent the symbol they are, "interest in the game".
The "local"'s in eve will get worse over time as more exodous happens. You can really see the effect of it taking hold already in the spirit of the game.
I feel this way as well, and its been . . . 5 days. GL next month CCP, when everyones paid-up subs and excess time runs out.
