Man, this thread is getting big, FAST. I have the following questions I would like answered (even though you will likely never reach this post):
1) Does the leaked newsletter reflect actual CCP policy, or is it just a means for CCP employees to voice opinions without fear of player outrage? If it is the latter, then you need to tell us this IMMEDIATELY. You should have told us at the first sign that this newsletter was leaked. Players are taking this newsletter to be CCP company direction, and not the opinions of the writers of those articles. If it is the former, remember what happened after the PLEX for Remap fiasco. You told us that you heard us loud and clear when we were outraged over microtransactions for non-vanity items.
2) How in the world did the prices on those items in the NEX make it live in the server!?
3) CCP has a history of releasing half-finished features. Planetary interaction, faction warfare, COSMOS missions, etc etc... There are also a lot of old gameplay mechanics that need serious updating: corporate management/permissions, POS's, bounties, etc... Will Captain's Quarters be resigned to this same fate?
Suggestions: 1) Promise once again not to do microtransactions for non-vanity items. We players hate MTs for an in-game advantage for the SAME REASON why we hate RMT!!! Think about that for a moment. CCP might hate RMT because other people are profiting off of your game, but players hate RMT because it allows the rich to gain an advantage in game over the average person. We view it in the same vein as professional athletes paying money for an advantage.
2) If you MUST have microtransactions for non-vanity items, do that in another game. You already have two other games in the works that you could do this for: DUST 514 and WoD.
3) PRIORITY ONE for CCP right now is dealing with the newsletter. Don't try to bend your customers over to you. You will have to come to our side. Many players have already unsubscribed over this item alone - you have to do ALL in your power to bring them back before their current subscription lapses.
PRIORITY TWO for CCP should then be dealing with the NEX prices. I only put this next because it should be the simplest and easiest for you to correct. Cut the price by at least a half. Having an "exclusive" item is OK, so long as you have cheaper alternatives. A $60 monocle wouldn't be that big of a deal, if there were a simpler version available for much less.
PRIORITY THREE for CCP is fixing heat/performance issues for Captain's QUarters. Remember that lots of your customers run multiple clients at once. Give us an option which allows us to do so.
PRIORITY FOUR for CCP is to reintroduce ship spinning as an alternative to captain's quarters. Better yet, bring the player to the ship spinning hangar first when players dock, and give the player a choice then the unplug from their capsule to do Incarna stuff.
PRIORITY FIVE for CCP is to expand on CQs. Give us the Gallente/Caldari/Amarr versions. Let us buy items to decorate our captain's quarters with. ANd most importantly, give captain's quarters something which is functionally unique, so that we would have a reason to use it over ship spinning if we had the choice. ----------
