Can't help but notice there are already threads sprouting up actually avocating selling skill points - in batches of 5 and 10 million, a point I foresaw when Activision announced starting new players at level 20 for World of Warcraft.
I'll not lower myself to reply to those threads but I will offer these observations here:
Are these laughable mega game changing comments posted and supported by actual players - or by CCP staff and PR hires ?
If so, is this seeding of contentious and inflammatory ideas part of CCP's plan to ease in Pay to Train, Pay to Win ?
OK, as a new player I can buy a load of plex, sell it at get all the best implants, the best ship I can fly and being a noob getting podded an hour later exploring lowsec.
With this rolled out though (including core skills)
5m SP will get you flying a Navy Raven 10m SP will get you behind a Hulk
All of a sudden these 14 year old golfers in $1,000 jeans just levelled the playing field. Worse, while you just spend 8 months training, the bling bridage have dropped a bundle of cash to CPP and started on day one to be anything, do anything and my doesn't mining sound fun. All the industrials will find barren astroid fields and some little gob****es giving it "Boo hoo, hurts to be you"
Personally I hate the fact it can take 6 month, a year to be ready for this ship, that mission. HOWEVER, ironically, the fact you have to really think, really plan to fly said ship, do said mission is the reason I DO like this game. It's not instant gratification. It's not easy. It majorally ****es me off when some griefer blows up my Hulk for lulz. But I accept that's the nature of the game. It's MY fault for not hardening the Hulk to survive longer. It's MY fault I didn't equip the right upgrades, learn the right skills. So you get back it your spare Covetar, grind asteroids, train skills and get better.
The ONLY way RMT can work in this game is this game ISN'T this game. If this game is a churn of players buying ships, buying skills, snotty kids and pvp'ers that join games purely to grief, and to grief as unfairly as possible.
That's the reason I'm leaving. Because after 13,000 posts asking for a straight answer to "Is this the path you are taking CCP?" and no answer we already know that is PRECISELY the path they are taking. The only question now is now if - but when and how fast.
And if they only have until October to find millions of dollars to cover day to day costs...
Enough said!
quoted for truth!
if u want a new fanbase ccp just say so, or continue rolling with the idea that the vast majority of your players want you to let people with all the money have all the things they want with no effort at all.
Remember this is why you were different from the other MMO's. Why are you forgetting???? i had a cool logo once, but then i moved corps and i couldnt be bothered doing a new one. |
