Originally by: Joda Vibe I see Dreadnaughts as a gap class ship like the Destroyer and Battlecruiser classes before it. Hence I think requirements for the Dreadnaught will be something along the lines of Spaceship Command 5 to train the generic Dreadnaught skill, then Racial Battleship 3 for the Dreadie you wish to fly. (Can't remember the exact requirements for Destroyers and BC's at to mo, and I'm sat at work)
I see Titans as the next proper class up from Battleships and will have Racial Titan skills to train, therefore you will probably need Spaceship Command 5 (maybe even something that requires SS Command 5, like BFS Command 1) and Racial Battleship 4
Doesn't matter how much you shout about your opinion being right, unless you are a Dev, it nothing more than that, an opinion.
Destroyers and Battlecruisers are just other version of the ship class they're based upon. Dreadnoughts will be a new ship class though. They are announced to be HUGE. A lot bigger than a battleship wich makes them use a jumpdrive. I think we can be pretty sure that the dreadnoughts wont be just a new version of BS's. The use of XL weapons indicates a whole step up in class as well.

The chance of dreads before September is about as high as all the ships magically becoming balanced and all of them gaining a role in PVP.
WRONG!!!!
i live just round the corner to ccp and popped in there on a sunday no one was on the desk and so i went to talk with one of the guys on the computers and on a desk near him i saw the concept art for 2 of the dreadnaughts the others were covered by the top 2.

*weighs options in either hand* Magic and Lasers? Big Ass missiles? Magic and Lasers? Big Ass missiles?
you deside
Magic and Lasers, cause with the ranges these behemoths will be fighting at by the time your "Big Ass missles" hit me you'll be dead from my "Magic and Lasers" and i'll just use my jumpdrive to run away from your "Big Ass missles" :)
Dude if you really think that Jump Drivers are gonna respond that fast Ill see you in "Easter Egg" hell lol.
Torps may be slow mate but Raven Vs Apoc in PVP ill take the Raven anyday. if the Dreads pan out remostly the same just more powerful you`ll see a similar result

Originally by: Kroy If they can't use stargates, htf will they be able to use stations? Or have I missed something? Are the plank generator fields able to warp the massive dreadnaught into a station that is already unfeasably small to fit my BS, let alone another 194 ships, offices, labs.... If they can't use stations, how are you going to be able to sell them etc.
In some scifi story lines ships that big with jump tech actually use the jump drives to dock. You could jump into the docking bay if precise enough.

If anything Titans are a step up from Transport/Support ships.

I do not believe Jump Drive Operation lvl 1 will be a requirement. That would put off too many nOObs. I do think Jump drive Operation lvl 1 or some such will be required to leave the solarsystem however.
And I would be that the higher lvl you JDO skill is the quicker & the better the jump drive you can pop on your ship. I think perhaps we will see the dreadnought BPOs for sale by NPCs, but the higher Jump Drives given as agent BPOs. Again this would be to keep the new players appeased, but still keep the full utilization of these ships to be had by the skilled. ----

I don't think it will, I think it'll be battleship 4, and maybe an adv SS command and others. I think the thing that'll make these things rare will be the construction requirements, including a POS and shipyard.

Incorrect tbh.
Elite battleships yeah, dreadnaughts no. --------

Really? I kept getting 5, no wonder I failed math...
On the topic of the dreadnaught, im guessing it wont require lvl V battleship, but look at all the skills that are required allready. To use the Jumpdrive you need:
Navigation V Warp Drive Op V Science V
Other possible skills for the actual dreadnaught will be:
Spaceship Command V Small - Large Turrets IV (to use XL turrets which will probably need just lvl I XL to use) Racial BS lvl IV (V? Doubt that) -----------------

There are three options
1) Dreatnaughts will be racial then it's pretty clear that just like the other racial ships they will need the following: Racial BS - 4 Spaceship comand - 5
2) If it is more like the new industirals which are racial but not a new class then I would think the following will be needed: Racial BS - 5 Spaceship command - 5 Jumpdrive operation - 1
3) The big brother of the HAF and HAC which would make them but just with a diffrent name.. (and not T2) Mechanic - 5 Enginering - 5 Spaceship command - 5 Weapon upgrades - 5 Heavy asault ships - 4 Electronics - 5 Jumpdrive opperation - 1 Racial battleship - 5
Personaly I would say the last is the most likely, seeing that CCP has already let us know that Dreatnaught is supposed to be an exception in the world of EVE instead of a common site like the BS's.

Althought the SC5 and BS4 would be nice i cant see CCP letting you get 1 that easily
Your prob need some obscure skill like
Door unlocking 4 and Lots of guns operation 5 .
Something that powerfull all be it expensive will need alot of training. u may even need HAC 5 but theres gonna be a dreadnought skill thats gonna cost a gazillion isk.
Cant wait to get 1 and then get ganked by 10 ceptors :P

Well about n00bs flying em, well most n00bs i know dont have XX Bil isk. And the skill needs are gonna be huge, thats for sure. Remember its gonna be a whole nwe type of ship class, so thats atleast someting u will need, also jump drive is gonna be needet.
On the missil to lasers thing. Ehm u do know that its gonna take like 300-500 seks before your first 1800base damage Ctorp hit ? in that time lasers are gonna put a world of PAIN down on u well unless u ubber tank it, and use those "new" ubber tanking that will come out whit em.
And 6 ceptors ganging a Dread ? Dont even think they will be able to put out enof damage to do that, and if they do, say hello to my little freind, XL drones.
And dreads will probley also be able to warp, so they can warp away from those Ctorps.
And yes Jump drive is gonna cost u fuel/money, thats been state by the devs somewhere else.
But me im saveing fot my Dread/titan, gonna be a hell of a expensiv thing to get. but just THINK about the first one that gets a Orgi BP for 1, darn Richich MOFO around. As all the big corps and rich players will want one. But darn think about a BYOM deal, better hope freigers are out by then.

On the lines of a new skill, how about using some uncommon ones we already have, like Multitasking V?
Maybe some new ones too, like Capacitor Battery Operation (Multiple BS-sized capcitors tied together for example) or whatever...
