So the recruitment channel gets moderated by GM Horse yesterday due to all the protests. The moment he unblocks it his words are "The next person to post anything unrelated to recruitment gets a 3 day ban" So, the channel says quiet for a good minute. I figure "Heck i'll break the ice and post a recruitment line"
My main is Ataxio, The CEO of Santouka Ramen, EvE Onlines first and only Ramen Establishment. Apparently GM Horses does not like ramen, nor does he have the time to investigate what players are saying. My next words are "So, who would like to make some ramen?" Simply clicking on my name would reveal at least 2 different plain as day indications that what was said, was an actual recruitment pitch. Instead, 3 seconds go by and GM Horse casually declares "And we have a winner" - banned for 3 days.
Now, I understand the GMs anger and frustration. I do not understand why I should be a public example or lose 3 days simply for recruiting in the recruitment channel. Because my methods are different, and unorthodox I pay the price. Because I choose not to use vanilla recruit macros, I get banned?
I do indeed have an active petition, but know full well it will not be addressed in 3 days time. Seems to me though that CCPs long arm of the law has gotten a bit too ban happy.

GM horse is known for being a complete ass. There have been several threads about his attitude and actions towards players. And its only gotten worse with this.

If what you are saying is accurate he needs to be stripped of GM status.

CCP hires s h i t GM's who want their nerd power. Guess he was beaten up too many times in real life and tries to beat up in-game. Petition his sorry arse and pathetic actions.

Sadly I have no log files of the incident. But it was plain as day in the recruitment channel. All he had to do was simply look at my name, my corp, my title, corp description, current recruitment posts... And I agree, if a GM is not taking the time to verify things. He is simply wildly swinging around a ban hammer in a vein attempt to control things.
If I do not receive any sort of compensation for the 3 days that will be lost, My account can be expected to stay inactive. Was contemplating it before all this noise, now I have a real excuse.

Can't even cancel your sub while banned. Apparently its their method of punishing you IRL by forcing you to pay even though you don't want to. My account rolled over yesterday. I did not want this to happen. Not even sure if this is covered by the EULA. All players should have immediate access to their account information at all times.

There's a petition catagory that goes direct to Infernal Repairs, no? Use that if you feel the GM was out of line (if what you said is true he certainly seems to be in need of a chill pill).

So you acknowledge that the channel was rammed full of disruptive idiots, it had just exited moderated mode and everyone had been warned, and you freely admit your sentence would have required the GM to look you up personally, not just read what you posted (which was NOT clearly a recruitment post).
You fished in a smart-ass fashion and you got slapped for it You deserve it.

I purchased PLEX for this very reason, at least this way they can't charge me more money without it being completely illegal, I'd try talking to your bank though and getting the payments cancelled just to see if it's possible.

Im sorry this happened to you. In his defense you probably should have worded that better. It seems to me that unless he somehow knew the name of your corporation beforehand that you were attempting to troll him. But if this is an honest mistake then you have my sympathy. Its certainly true that GM's have been acting a bit single minded recently.

My petition was filed under the ban category. Can't even check it once its submitted due to the ban...
I highly doubt GM Horse will be removed from his position. It seems as though this is what CCP wants now.
CCP is not to be mocked. very srs business.

This is covered by your credit card or paypal agreement and security. Charge it back, CCP did not provide you a service or method to cancel your subscription and therefore stole from you. You did not authorize the charge and it will be reverse while hitting CCP with a reversal charge from Visa or mastercard.
Call your bank and tell them it was not authorized, or email paypal and tell them it was not authorized and CCP prohibited you from canceling your account. For fun file a police report for theft and fax it to their corporate office too since they did commit a crime.

Edited by: Joey Bags on 25/06/2011 16:06:20 Can't find thread...happened yesterday? Can't find anything up to 3 days ago. Linky or it didn't happen. Was looking for the thread because I was going to flame the GM and get banned for it. I could care less. I just wanted to support a fellow player for an unjustified ban, but I'm thinking it may not have happened. EDIT Reread OP..my mistake...didn't realize it was in-game channel...SRY

Fully understand how the comment may have been inappropriate. All depends on the person with the ban hammer. If you suck the fun out of the game and implant changes that dictate how you must speak... That is not EvE. I refuse to censor my self if I am following all the rules in the EULA and abiding by the demands of a GM.

Um where have you been of course you can't find it because the CCP admins are busy nuking all threads and stayed up all night scrubbing and won't even get overtime.

Sadly, this thread will be locked asap. But yeah, from hearsay the GM in question has a fairly bad attitude towards paying customers of this game, and I've heard a lot of people calling him out on it.

Kerppe Krulli,
I have thought about taking legal action, but It has not yet come to that point. There is still a chance CCP can handle this situation with grace and keep my account active.
While the amount billed is trivial, It goes against my wishes and does indeed amount to theft. It is not my fault they have mismanaged the website to disallow banned players from stopping payment.
