Every consumer has the right to protest a product or service; we are the consumers and the buck stops here.
The attitude of CCP is really quite shocking. Very, very little concern or care from CCP for the feedback that has been generated regarding microtransactions.
The answer to this situation is simple: CCP should go the way of the dodo. Sometimes statements have to be made from the gaming community at large and this is one of them. To give them second life shows that we consumers fold over for the way we are treated and after changing a service that was working quite well for the past 8 years.
It is important that new players (who are making up the majority of the fanboys in game chat) get the true information. That CCP could come at anytime and sweep the carpet from under your feet. Many new players say stuff like "oh this is all about some stupid monocle thing" or "I just want to play." They don't realize we are doing this for them, so that the MMO industry at a whole dosn't go overboard with microtransactions.
CCP is going overboard and its time to take out their new player base with honest, effective, and direct information. Contact new players on mass and get them to join our movement.

Edited by: Khaine Beralt on 27/06/2011 02:31:59 I'm ok with everyone wanting the game to get fixed.
But please don't try to kill it.

But in doing so you are ensuring it's demise, I understand and agree with many of the grievances, but I will not help destroy this game

I'm not going out of my way to chase off new players, but yes, you should be honest when asked.
I frequent a popular gaming forum where I've seen a few threads crop up about new players wanting to try EVE but being a bit trepidatious after hearing the latest. I told them the truth.
That EVE can be a good game, but CCP has a habit of pushing updates that do nothing but tick off the userbase and do not address the concerns they should be addressing. Ultimately the best thing you could say is that they TRY the game and make their decision from that. --------------------

It is in everyone's own, individual, interest to see that games which they stop liking, fail. There are a couple of reasons for this: A) If they stopped liking the game in response to a specific event. And if the game then fails due to massive disliking of that event, then it would be a huge beacon to future game developers to not make the same "mistake". If the game were to go on to be wildly successful after shunning its user base - then that too would be a huge beacon to future game developers.
B) If you originally like a game, chances are that others who play the game also like it. If that game is very popular, then that leaves fewer players available for a possible competitor. If the game then fails, because of a specific event, then that frees up a lot of paying customers who are seeking an alternative. If you quietly leave a game on your lonesome - you are far less likely to find a replacement game than if thousands of people leave en mass. Thousands of people who have paid monthly subscriptions for years. Competitors take note of that kind of thing.

I suppose OP shouldn't worry too much, as all the negative media attention which people like the OP would help to foster are doing a fantastic job right now!

way too late. CCP may have predicted resistane to the idea, but there was clearly a miscalculation as to how much and how far people would go. I will agree huge mistakes were made and some very offensive things were said on the ccp side. but 4400+ accounts stop subscriptions. that is just the ones who have said they will not play anymore. now think about the ones who simply decided not to protest or riotpost and simply ended subscription. I suspect that is number substantially higher than we know.
Combine that with these facts. 1. negative press kills games, and ccp has certainly got alot of that right now and in one dose, not including how much more it will continue to recieve until this is resolved.
2. CCP is not Blizzard and does not have succesful stand alone games, a ridiculous subscriber base, and a well funded advert machine to fall back on. while people can claim 4400 is relatively small number, for ccp its a large chunk of funding, corp growth, development funding, and investor confidence that is about to be gone.
3. Ceo while prideful and arrogant, is still a buisnessman. If they cannot salvage, fix, damage control, whatever the hell it would take to stop what is going on right now, He may very well cut his losses and sell the company to whoever is willing buy it, say a competitor. If that happens, eve is dead...forever.

Keep your protest out of the new player help channel. There is enough spam and nonsense going on in there we don't really need to hear any more about your rage.
