Hi fellow pilots, how to deal with The Blockade as Amarr? I am flying navy Geddon, but the mission is pain. If two, three or in the worst case four ships tracking disrupts me, i am pretty much screwed. My gunnery skills are all V, Amarr BS IV. Too bad my Geddon can¦t fit full rack of T2 Tachyons and not even T2 Beams (even if i have AWU IV...), it would help to fall-off damage range which is not affected by the damn disruption if i got it right. So, how to do L4 Sansha Blockade as Amarr?

Two choices;
1. Swap out your mids for tracking computers and hope that your not TD'd to hell & get your drone skills as high as possible and try to take them out.
2. Don't accept this mission as it is a royal pain in the ass. (My personal favourite)

Also tried this in a Navy Geddon the other day, same problem (even with 1 tracking computer). Fitting a second TC isn't possible with my setup unless I switch to faction heat sinks.
I dealt with it by docking up and switching to an 800mm Maelstrom, no tracking issues even with 3 disruptors active on it ;-P

Have same problem here with Navy Apoc...
Every tracking disruptin ship cuts your optimal in half(and your tracking) so if 2 or 3 are disrupting you than its useles to even shoot
with drones it takes like forever to kill those td cruisers because they have good tank(against drones)

I ran this several times by warping 80km out then keep targeting the ships as they get close, also use drones. Takes a little while but good mission for salvaging and isk from rewards.

Or option 3: (what I do) Fly a properly fitted nightmare and prioritize killing the elite cruisers/frigs that tracking disrupt you as soon as they show up. When a new wave of 4-6 TD ships warps on the field, I switch to X-ray crystals (70km optimal + 40km fallout) and proceed with the shooting. The first 1-2 cruisers take the longest - usually a few volleys - since I'm shooting in fallout, but as the number of TD is reduced, the rest go down very quickly. Sure its not as easy as turkey shooting battleships, but imo TD is preferable to guristas ecm.
All in all, Blockade is one of my favorite missions, good LP payout, the bountys alone usually come out to 20-22m, and the ships just keep coming at you like a conveyer. Average completion time for me is 16-18 minutes, some people manage in 15m.

An Amarr pilot of some time, I gave up and trained missile boats :)
Our dear friends, the Caldari, have well discovered how best to deal with our Sansha foe!

Edited by: Beef Knuckleback on 28/06/2011 11:35:57 Man, I thought this mission was a pain in a Raven. Some generic advice that ought to carry over to Amarrian hulls -
1. Warp to 70 instead of 0 when entering the mission. Most of the time that drops you in a spot the rats will all have to work towards you, giving you a bit more of a time buffer than you'd have otherwise.
2. Fit to snipe. (Just a sebo with range script on the Raven, dunno what you'd use for long range ammo as I do not pew pew with teh l4z0rz)
3. Drone link + bees. Two if you can fit them without gimping your guns. It's been my experience that EM drones work almost as well as thermal drones [ed - vs. Sansha] - if you're inclined to use heavies, Praetors (sp?) are a hell of a lot faster than Ogres.
4. Corp / Local / EVE friends. A small fleet will spread out the aggro, meaning somebody gets a clean shot at the goobers with the TDs. Also speeds up completion time considerably.
5. Rejoice that your tracking range isn't damped down to 4-5km like it is for most of the Serpentis version.

almost never had problems when doing this mission in a nightmare.
yeah sure i would get td'd but i would wait one cycle and most of them would stop. drones tack out frigs and help a great deal on cruisers... in most cases cruisers were insta popped.

Use beams/tachs and make your curators shoot td cruisers.

I've seen them run in carriers in lowsec, especially out of the triple mission hub systems.
Other than that you need an alt.

Thank you all for help. Please may someone confirm the NPC TD buff? Does it mean that Nightmare Tachyon¦s falloff advantage would not be the advantage anymore nayway? However here is my navy Geddon fit, it looks like i should start to use sentry drones as they could help against TD NPC better than light/medium ones?

That mission isn't a problem for a pulse navy geddon, just kill the TD ships first (cruisers). Sentry drones do help a lot as well as that's 400+ dps that shouldn't be TD'd if you're paying attention.

Fit beams or tachyons with 2 scripted tracking computers. You dont have to fit 8 t2 versions of them to be effective. You can also fit faction or meta 4, or just fit 7 of them.

Of course not, npc tds work same - they do not affect falloff. Sell navy geddon, buy nightmare, fit tachs, do sansha blockade under 15 mins. Or paladin.
Or just fit beams...
