Guys,
I'm a little concerned at the short notice CCP has given the CSM team to fly out to Iceland. I imagine prior engagements, obligations, etc might not allow some CSM delegates to actually make the trip, not to mention there could even be some who don't have up-to-date passports.
Can we have a tally of who's going and who simply can't make it?

Would also like to know how many are able to make this trip at such short notice. Mainly would like to know who and how many will be representing us at this meeting.

Haha, trust me, part of me really envies the CSMs. I'd personally do everything I can to make time to do it, but I imagine there are still simply tons of reasons why a CSM simply couldn't make it. Work obligations, weddings to go to, wife aggro, etc.
I just want to make sure, despite all the reasons why a CSM should definitely go to Iceland, that we the players will be sufficiently represented and it won't just be one or two delegates who actually go.

There's no such thing as a free vacation.
Time off work (you only get so many days off a year you know?) Time from friends, family and even the little things you don't think of until you go on holiday, all cost either your time or money.

It doesn't matter who goes. CCP will already know what "concessions" they will make before this meeting.
They are just calling it so they can give their volunteer pr department (CSM) credit. |

Oh I dunno, trying to take 2 days off from work in short notice, having to explain that you can't go to work because of internet spaceships. Sounds like a great free trip!

I find it amusing... amidst all the chaos, and shouting about microtransactions, how can CCP afford this trip? Oh yes, with the subscription fees we all pay and the monacles sold.
What is it that requires a trip to Iceland that can't be done over vent/TS3, or jabber/mumble? Hell, even Skype or email. Why the face-to-face meeting that is going to be a waste of time and a waste of money??

I do find myself wondering the same, the only reason I could think of to going to CCP face-to-face is to to smack them in their faces with copies of Star Wars Galaxies

Edited by: Heathyy on 28/06/2011 15:42:13 sexual favours aren't as good in virtual form, publicity is probably the sole reason ofc.
besides it takes time to create clusterfk fixes the 2 days from now for example, if they did it over vent it would be leaked everywhere and semi quoted, remixed on youtube.. etc etc

Stop being logical.
That wouldn't be as effective pr.
They need to really really show that they do listen to the players. So you have to fly them in. They want to say it was only after meeting with csm theat they could fully understand the players perspective.
Really this whole meeting with csm is a complete sham.

80% of communication is body language. Personally I am happy to have CSM flown to Iceland. It's much easier to tell if people are being genuine when you meet them in person.

They should go! Do you know why? because thats what I voted on them for! To speak with CCP on "my" behalf! They do owe that to their voters!

Not to go to speak with CCp when they are needed most is a treachery to their voters!
They should go, and unless they have a good explanation of why they cant they should be expelled from CSM. Its not in "peacetime" the CSM are needed. its in time of "turmoil and trouble"

"The following CCP agreed rules apply for Elected Council members missing meetings:
Miss 1 meeting - No penalty miss 2 meetings - Alternate substitutes you for the next 2 meetings Miss 3 meetings - Alternate substitutes you for the next 2 meetings Miss 4 meetings - You are down-graded to Alternate and the next Alternate becomes a council member. This rule refers to concurrent meetings missed and you do not apply if you warn your colleagues (X Days) before the meeting starts."
Dunno what sort of notice they were required to give for this or not though but, missing a CSM meeting sounds pretty damnable.

Missing a meeting that had less than a week of notice isn't quite to damnable in my book. No matter how serious internet spaceships may be.

Edited by: Morae on 28/06/2011 16:26:06 On a related note, a coworker and I were wondering yesterday how, exactly, the CSMs are making this one on such short notice (assuming they have jobs and other obligations).
How exactly do you tell your employer, "Yeah, uh... I need half the week off. I have to fly to Iceland for an emergency meeting of the CSM..." Employer: CSM? CSM delegate: The uh... *cough*councilofstellarmanagement*cough* Employer: Stellar what?

I did mention a good excuse did I? That might qualify for it!
What do not qualify is not going because they protest! That is a reason for being expelled!
So maybe its you who should grow a brain.
