60 Bucks for a monocle... I could buy a nice dinner with that. Honestly I think monocles look weird. I will stick with my beer stained shirts. 60 bucks is a lot of liquor to drink while I play Internet Spaceships. ------------------ Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum. Doing so will result in the release of Aur to purchase p2w devices. That is all! |

Wow, plz all stfu about monocles.
There is no law that requires everyone be able to afford all items in a game. If you can't (or even if you can but don't find it worth the money), go find some tissues to cry into. STFU and let people decide for themselves, and purchase a monocle or not. It's not your business to be whining about it.

Seems the current move by CCP alts/fanbois is to make everyone think only cool people have the monocle.
And to make it cool by acting all edgy about having one. That only those with balls have will have one therefore its cool. Your not hardboiled without a monocle.
I cant be the only only one that has seen the rash of monocle threads started by monocle owners. CCP give you guys a free monocle to advertise and force the "its cool to have one" meme.
There are also the rationalizing away the costs threads too.
CCP spin control out in full force.
Edit: cant forget all these, "MTs not so bad" threads either. Seems this is the PR strategy until the CSM where they tell us they are doing MT no matter what.
If you cant "rationalize away" free you are pretty ****ing dumb. Just saying. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

The meme is not 'it is cool to have one'; it is 'I have one, and I look superior because of it'

So you really think people buying plexes to sell for isk are doing it for vanity items rather than pvp ships and mods? I seriously doubt anyone who has a vanity item paid real cash for it.
You seem to be really late to the protest game if you are against people using real money to gain an advantage in eve.

Don't think the monocleans spent $60 for their monocles. More like 1.6 Bil ISK. Last I heard, we can't turn that 1.6 Bil ISK into $$, so unfortunately they didn't have the option of buying liquor with 1.6 Bil ISK.

Yeah yeah. Only monocle-owners are cool.
Now there is a "monocle aristocracy".
Way to prove how much harm a slice of RMT can do to a community.

Why weren't you so butthurt for the past several years that PLEX existed? The only thing this NeX thing does is sustain PLEX demand. What happened to the "LOL You bought that ship with $$. Fail!" attitude?
Now it's butthurt because I can buy a commanding shirt with ISK.

Spite your monocle-less status, I do approve of your choice of garments. You may not be a Monocleer, hence I cannot treat you as an Equal, however, you are not a plain peasant either. I think you could be classified as a peasant foreman.
That said, I do find your shirt most commanding. Well chosen garment indeed.

A sentence I read elsewhere from one of the most charming monocle protesters here which fits this post of yours very well:
"This is eve after all, I expect even the vanity item "pvp" will be brutal."
Amen to that.

You are speaking directly with the peons you claim to be better than. That is the job of your Estate Manager.
Unfortunately you also appear to have purchased your monocle via some sort of retail outlet. A true Gent would either have obtained his monocle via a private commission or at the very least by artisans on his own estate
Reluctantly I must conclude that you are either not as wealthy as you claim or have made your money in trade!

Nonsense, for two reasons.
1) I pay a subscription to play the game. As I play the game I make millions upon billions of ISK. If I choose not to buy a PLEX to pay for my gametime, it is a twist of logic to equate that with buying PLEX with $$ to get more ISK. I'm playing the game, in a subscribed mode, as it was designed and played even before PLEX came out. By no stretch of the imagination does that equate me to buying ISK with $$.
2) Many of us have enough ISK to both keep subscribed with PLEX and buy fancy outfits.

Nice mental gymnastics you need to twist it into somehow plex being free.
At some point ccp got money for that plex. Its value is = to that money. Just cause you paid in isk does not magic away that IRL money value.
For every plex you don't Redeem for game time you lost money.

The funny thing is that CCP has to act quick to fill the hole of 5500 cancelled subs. They can convince the ragequitters to re-sub or they can try to get new players.
Not only that a lot of potential new players got the message "OMG they charge $68 for DLC!!!". The attitude of moronocle-wearers here on the forum isnŠt helping either.
So let them troll, it only strengthens the position of the protesters.

Edited by: VKhaun Vex on 29/06/2011 14:11:51 CCP alts and fanbois made it popular?
LOL
How about... CCP alts and Fanbois bought them because the protesters made them popular?
We see shallow arguements based on nothing. I see real concerns drowned out by ******ation like quoting documents that were people speaking HYPOTHETICALLY on an issue they were TOLD TO from a position THEY WERE TOLD TO like it's a game plan for the future, and even that is the best most can do in these threads. Usually it's quotes out of context or that don't even say what they say it does.
Their self contained arguments start with assumptions like 'first items not involving player markets' as if BPO's and skillbooks haven't been giving items and skills out of thin air for real money (PLEX sold for ISK) for years. As if killing NPC's didn't drop loot out of thin air. As if minerals ever came from the player market and Asteroids were added with Incarna. Assumptions like 'have to pay money to be competetive' when all along it's been known you could buy anything in the aur shop for ISK through PLEX.
IT'S NOT EVEN A REAL MICROTRANSACTION SHOP You can't buy anything directly for money!
You could call it an ISK shop, if you can call it a cash shop. Both are equidistant from PLEX as long as PLEX are sold for both, and if players stopped as the doomsday people say they will due to prices, CCP has a million options to keep them available for ISK. You can't found all your arguments and problems on the assumption that CCP will sit back and let it's game implode and expect to be taken seriously.
No.
The protesters being this thick made Monocles popular. I would never have bought one if it didn't make those people cry so much and see threads like this. I wouldn't care to make them cry if they weren't so loud about how stupid they are.
Protesters made it popular, because easily proving dozens of people wrong is fun, and every time a monocle conversation comes up I get to do just that.
Quote: Nothing in EVE will ever require real life money, as long as players are selling PLEX for ISK. Not even the monocle! http://cdn1.eveonline.com/community/devblog/2011/currencyCycle.jpg
