There's still something wrong with them.
I'm sat here watching my T2 Vespas fail to break the tank on a Serpentis cruiser. Yet just minutes ago, they killed another cruiser of the exact same type, name and bounty - although they still struggled slightly with that.
Also, sometimes 3 of them spontaneously break off and start attacking something else.
Also, sometimes they completely ignore the "return to drone bay" command.
I'm not the only person who has noticed this. Why isn't it being acknowledged - or even better, fixed?

Yep, I'm suffering from the exact same behavior. I've submitted bugreps and made posts last week about it. So far there's been bingo response.
Of course, with the ongoing MT insurrection, I doubt CCP will make drone fixes a high priority.

I'm suffering from a differnt behavior my drones always endup pulling stuff that i dont want them to pull, eventhough they are shooting at for instance a BS or just a cruiser, suddenly having the whole pocket shoot my drones except the ones that engaged me correctly.
Greets Jessy.

Mine too. They randomly disengage targets and have to be told again to engage.

This is happening when they are set on passive and focus fire.
I engage a target with the whole group; after a few seconds one or more will disengage and go back into idle mode. It does not happen every single time but will happen many times over the course of a typical combat mission. Once they have been told to engage a second time, they stay engaged.
This has only started happening since incarna. Same ship, same loadout, same missions, same game setings.
I'm going to try downloading the full client install and see if that fixes it as it may be I have badly patched version. I'll post back once this is installed.

I am now able to reliably recreate my issue and can see how drone behaviour has altered.
When drones are engaged on a target and the target is successfully destroyed, it takes a couple of seconds for the drones to go back into idle mode. Sometimes it takes some of them a little longer than others, this has always been the case. However, since incarna, if I engage a new target while some drones are still showing as fighting, those drones that are still showing as fighting start to engage then drop into idle mode. This is what has changed. i.e. a drone will only engage properly if engaged from idle mode and not from fighting mode.
Obviously the workaround is to wait until all drones are idle before engaging the next target, but this is definitely new behaviour. Bug or feature?

Ran a couple missions for the first time in a while since I just got into an Ishtar, and my God this is the worst I've ever seen drones behave.
I've always used drones exclusively and they've always had their quirks, but they're all but unplayable now. I'm scared to take my Ishtar into a L4 mission with triggers on the chance that my Garde II's will randomly shoot them.
The way they're behaving now, I half expect them to randomly shoot other players or CONCORD ships only to get me podded in HighSec.
Please make drones work properly for once.. it honestly can't be that complicated to get, what appear to be, these state-based race conditions out of their behaviour. If I say 'all attack this target' they had better not have any lingering ideas of other targets to attack or thoughts on disengaging.
This old idea that they 'behave like children' is a bug not a feature.
What would you do if turrets randomly shot at unexpected ships or stopped firing 'just because'? Drones are my turrets!
