CCP started this meeting by saying something incredibly smart. It gave me hope that the entire summit would be a success, but you will have to wait to find out what it was. Suffer, *****es.
Are they going to actually assign a substantial number of devs to work on in space features of eve?
Because if not we will know to expect more worthless expansions.
Best news would be that instead of the 70 devs working on incarna-transactions and 22 on in space eve they will have 70 on in space eve and 22 on incarna-transactions.

TheMittani The Mittani "Anyway, I don't think EVE is going to blow up but there needs to be some serious 'apology school' action from the company to the players."
IMO they can hold the BS apology.
There needs to be some serious devs assigned to the inspace part of eve. They need to stop the huge focus on incarna and the mt it brings.
All the expansions have been crap since apocrypha. That is the real problem.

Originally by: Brainless Bimbo Its becoming clear that CCP intends WiS to be treated as a separate but inter connected game like Dust. It offers an opportunity to raise revenue using MT via the PLEX system while serving as a test bed for Carbon and the underlying code and mechanics for WoD (basically a win win for CCP).....
CCP wants us to treat it as part of eve so they can claim they are still working on eve. But incarnatransactions is clearly just an opportunity for them to get walking characters for WOD and an opportunity to squeeze more money out of eve players with mt.
When will they assign more devs to the actual eve game we play with spaceships? Because that is the first step for them getting out an expansion that doesn't suck.

Edited by: jackaloped on 01/07/2011 15:51:44 It may be as good as ever but it could be improved allot. The game as it is, takes hours to find a decent pvp fight. (the fight will only last about 3 minutes) Eve involves allot of boring downtime even when you are all fit up and ready for battle. That could be improved if they really focused the devs on it.
There are allot of people in this world who would like eve's combat mechanics and risk/reward, yet can't dedicate huge portions of their lives to a computer game. Instead of tapping into that population CCP is preying on those who are hopelessly addicted to the game by charging them for virtual clothing.

Team Gridlock have delivered some genuinely good work on lag. I'm seeing fights with 200 + in local, fighters out, on unreinforced nodes, with essentially no lag. That's a good result, and regardless of the foot-in-mouth antics of certain people at CCP, Gridlock deserve props.
I know that there's a fair old list of stuff that needs looking at on the game design front- Faction Warfare, to name the most obvious one - but right now, the straight up boat-violencing part of EVE is in as good a state as it has ever been. Kind of sucky for pure Gallante-spec'd pilots, but there's always 1 gimp race.
