Chinese Chinese and Taiwanese Chinese are about as different as English English and American English. In other words, you can still carry on a conversation and read the same information.

Just for future reference, to posit a solution one must first have a problem to solve, you don't.
And how do you propose the 1.5 billion Chinese should connect to the server in Taiwan?
The Great Firewall of China would prevent such a thing and my guess is that the Taiwanese market is too small to support a niche game like Eve.
PS: Political censorship is universal, the Chinese just do it in the open. The whole WikiLeaks affair more than proved that, as media outlets in all corners of the world were coerced to support X Government position, very few actually resisted.
Until you come up with a way to govern the largest single population the world has ever seen without having some draconian measure mixed in, I'd suggest you keep it shut .. hell, even America has  laws in place and is 1/5th the pop.

That is incorrect. There are many Chinese languages, and though they may seem the same or similar to a Westerner, they can be very different. The main language in Taiwan is derived from a Southern China language, but decades of near-complete isolation of the island (from China) has led to it having evolved on its own. The second language is nominally Mandarin, but for Taiwanese Mandarin the same goes as for the other language - it has changed from the mainland Mandarin such that is quite different.
Well, the spoken language is exactly identical. The written language had evoloved separately for some decades, but an educated Chinese can read both naturally without any training. This is already proved by what happened in WOW. and BTW Taiwan along has a decent population and many SF fans there.
No, the "universal" chinese language was created by Mao during his take over in the 40's so Taiwan does not speak the same language. There are many similarities yes, but they are not identical. And no a native chinese speaker cannot automatically read both. I had a friend who was Chinese, his mother spoke mandarin, his father spoke cantonese. It took them 3 years to learn each others languages.

Back on subject!
I think the original posters idea has mileage!
Currently of course Google uses Hong Kong. That way China has to do the blocking not Google!
So Honk Kong could be another base that CCP could use as that still has a nominally independent existence from China as currently it serves as a useful neutral ground for both China and the rest of the world. Finally in the debate over language:

You're forgetting the simple fact that, if "China" isn't pleased about such a move, they'll simply block Serenity.
This is a definite no-go.
Imagine people from China being able to have free speech, even if it's through a videogame. No way.
I'd be surprised if there's a Tiananmen Square Corp on Serenity ...

As someone with deep insight in this particular question I can only answer; Yes, English speakers are few and far between in China.

Anyway, inb4 casual racism where people seem to think that China is thailand and not the major economic power in the world at the moment.
Just sayin'.
racism = the rich liberal elietest excuse for everything
If EVE doesn't country block China already, it should. China doesn't respect intellectual property, so they invent nothing. Everyone steals from everyone else. They are cheap manufactoring only and will remain that way. Cultures do not change. They have stayed the same for 1000s of years.
Those cities you see in China were designed by, and built by EU companies. Sure China supplied the low skill manual labor. Just like the West runs the oil fields in the Midle East, so it does in China.
I guess you have to manage droids for a living to understand. None of them can think for themselves and have to be managed hourly (no kidding).
Oh, my best friend is Chinese. But, he grew up in America. He is an American. Culture has nothing to do with race.
lol
"rich liberal elitist" is a republican way of saying "people who took the time to read while they were in school"
and why is it republicans say the most racist ****, and then claim they arnt racist "because i have a friend who is..."

There is a democracy region besides PRC called Taiwan without any mother****ing political censorship and people there speak identical Chinese language. There was a time when players of PRC cannot play the latest version of WOW(due to the same political reason), millions of them literally flooded the Taiwan server. Guess what will happen if you release Chinese client of Tranquility "for Taiwan"?
Sorry for my bad English.
1. Taiwan is, de facto, an independent country, not a region. 2. The censorship is your problem. 3. Chinese and Taiwanese speak identical language? very funny. .
Please stop flooding to Taiwan and say "hey my country doesn't allows us to do this and that, so i am going to use yours, btw, i like your necklace, so it is mine now ".
The censorship problem is between you and your government. If that censorship makes u crazy, you should put the pressure on your government, not Taiwanese people. Thank You.

Fisrt of all, I am not any hostile to you or any Taiwanese or the independence stuff. In fact, I used the conserved word 'region' in propose of avoiding agruement like this because the problem is controversial. So please don't start make this political. I know you care about the 'independence' thing very much and I fully understand it, just please don't make this thread about it, OK? Call it country or province as you like and it has nothing to do with my point.
My idea is not another flooding and seizing Taiwan server cataclysm. My point is that a Taiwanese client to TQ will benefit both Chinese and Taiwanese, and of course CCP too. There won't be a 'Taiwan server' at first so no way this can harm you.
And about the language issue, since we are both native speaker, you do know why I say that they are the same. No need to deny it carpingly even if I am the racism cynic troll you imagined. I am sure you will beat me up immediately if I insult you in PRC Chinese.
To those with so much phobic-reaction to having Chinese players in TQ, unfortunately that is just what CCP so desperately wanted to do. If they are not so coveted to China market they wouldn't try to enter it at first, They wanted it so much as that after being blocked by the censorship, what they gave up was not entering but the "one galaxy" ideal--they set up a crippled , isolated server just to stay. The truth is, they will have Chinese here as soon as they find a way, no matter you like it or not.

This must never happen, if they merge servers in anyway it means CEVE will have to patch up to incarna, the resident population as well as the TQ residents do not want that. They already know about it and are raging on their forums that they very much do not want.
