Why are Vanity Items Non-Destructible?
What is the EVE "Lore" behind this? Do tell.

there is no good reason... ccp had to shove incarna down our throats because of CARBON pretty much ccp has spent lots of RL in investment into other games (WOD DUST) and they are still year(s) away from being released. Pretty much Incarna is alpha testing for WOD
dont get me wrong i would love to see what a station looks like in eve imo incarna should have come out one year after WOD launch mainly becuase WOD is a human avatar based game... while eve is ship avatar... They should have taken what works best from WOD after a year and impliment what makes sence in EVE rather then the other way around which is what they have chosen and which is why since 2008 we have been getting medicore expansions... and i say this only in comparison to what an expansion in eve used to be
as for vanity items not being destructible? wait until all vanity items are bpc only... once there is an healthy market for items i would expect CCP to implement destructible clothing...

Nex clothes are fully destructable. Nex manufacturers however, understand the dangers that pod pilots face and when you buy them you get two sets. One for your current clone and one for your medical bay one.
When you get podded you get to claim an new replacement from the manufacturer, and that has to be shipped out at considerable cost and thats why the damn things are so expensive you are actually buying a lifetime's supply!
Implant manufacturers do not do it because the cost of a single implant would make it prohibative.
They don't show on the killmail because nothing on the podkill shows. But rest assured PVPers when you pop that pod you definately scortched that guys skirt!

I will ignore, for the moment, the fact that the OP has blatantly reposted a thread I started not too long ago.

The "lore" behind this is that you leave your clothes in your station when you go in your pod. You are naked in your pod. Always been like that.
The real question is, why do you even care? If you could loot them and resell them, it would be fine. But right now, it doesn't change anything to your gameplay. And to be honest, I prefer it that way, because if I could butcher a corpse to recover a monocle, I'd also start thinking about what the ****s did to the jews right before sending them to the gaz chambers. ------------------------------------------

That logic doesn't work in this game

You are not just paying for that version of the vanity item but for the jump clones of said product as well.

Funny, cause I thought jump clones were the only things that didnt get the products transported lol.

It's easy really
As you're naked in your pod you don't actually have your clothes with you when you travel. Therefore they also don't get destroyed.
However this unfortunately also means you have to have one set of clothes at EVERY STATION IN THE UNIVERSE, or you couldn't be dressed in the same way when you dock at another station.
This is why the clothes are so expensive. You don't buy one pair of pants for 400 mil isk, you buy 10000 pairs of pants for 400 mil isk, or 40k isk each
(Imagine the storage space in each station required only to store unused sparkle-clothes for capsuleers )

You stand in your captain's quarters, you want to clone jump. No you can't. Not until you leave your ship.
Everything you see before you is a result of CCP trying to force you to beta test incompatible game designs.

In the end everything is approved by CCP, even if it's suggested by the CSM, which i don't know if is the case with vanity items being non-destructible.

1) Non-destructible items can be sold at higher prices than destructible ones (although we can all agree that the prices CCP settled upon were in most cases wrong).
2) There are broadly speaking two populations in EVE -- Carebears who rarely get podded, and thus rarely would have to rebuy their destructible clothes, and PvPers who are always getting podded, and thus (given the annoyance-factor of having to undress/redress) would rarely buy them in the first place. Nobody who is getting podded every week is going to buy a monocle.

why non-mt clothes are not destructible? you even have those with you after a jump-clone ! gonna blame ccp for that.
i look at the mt-vanity clothes as an unlocked clothes in the customization tool, i think that ccp should not make them tradable as an in-game good and instead it should be unbreakable and "always with you" just as normal clothes are.
not as i really care, i'm not going to buy a vanity item, especially not for those prices, but i don't have any problem towards who wants them. it's their money/isk, and if that help ccp with their financial problems and to have more game-contents in the near future then i'm happy with that.
oh please, don't start quoting me saying things such "you dumb idiot, ccp just wants our money and won't release anything good in the near future"

The CSM confirms that they would not be destroyed because people wouldn't buy them if they could be. They will obviously be teleported to your hangar otherwise nobody would buy monocles.
It must be true. The CSM said it. The CSM wouldn't lie or misrepresent the truth. They simply wouldn't. Not even for a free holiday to Iceland.

Holy cow. I just realized that there are some things about EVE that are not totally in line with reality. The idea of being physically killed but then reborn in a new clone with all (or most of your experience) never wrecked the immersion aspect of the game for me. Not one single bit. Neither did the whole faster than light travel or the fact that lasers (or anything) make noise in space. Everything was completely realistic until monocles!!!!!!!

No, everything was consistent. If lasers made noise in space, but missiles didn't, you would be within reason to ask why.
Everything else is destroyed or dropped upon destruction of pod/ship, so why is there an exception to the consistency?

Given that there are some players that simply just cannot help themselves with grief play, making them non-destructible is a prudent move.
Once these novelty items become more common and could more easily be acquired through the in-game market with in-game money it may be worth another consideration. But in the mean time I support them being non-destructible. Some players are simply too itchy in their desire to destroy other people's real money.

More intriguingly - why are people such as the OP so concerned with destroying these items which have no impact whatsoever on the gameplay.
It would seem foolish to purchase vanity items, since they are just that - vanity items. It would seem equally foolish to be concerned with their destruction. But human nature takes over - some want to obtain these exclusive and controversial items - a form of pea-****ing. For the same essence of human nature, others want to take them away - envy.
Elementary, my dear Watson.

ROFLMAO!
On the other side, if they would be destructable/lootable everybody and his dog will hunt down "monolcers", to loot and resell the monocle on markets. This would be a kick in the nuts for ccp, as monocle prices will drop (isk-wise), lowering ccp¦s profit on this s*it, what they deserve, imo. Who would buy a monocle for AUR if he can get it for isk cheaper?

Because the avatar rendering server will be going nuts trying to keep up with the changes of people clone jumping and pod killing.
Presumably, they don't want to write anything to handle that situation, because that situation will not arise in World Of Darkness, nor will exchanging Goods + Money for Special Goods, because CCP don't want to write that either.

It's simple. Because you are not buying single item - but same item on each station in New Eden. Then you getting into capsule you leave clothes on station - and put new set on another or same station after return.
That's why they are so expensive: it's not a pair of $1000 jeans - but a thousand (or more) $1 jeans.
