CCP Darius Johnson/Sreegs is in charge of security at CCP (including combating bots/RMT,) CCP stofferninjapirate/Soundwave is lead game designer (for EVE) and Alex Gianturdo (I'd link his photo but apparently it's verboten) is CSM chair, does little more than getting drunk, throwing up, telling people to kill themselves irl, playing WoT, and doesn't even play EVE.
They are all goon directors/CEOs (soundwave and gianturdo are admitted goon spais,) and their alliance has openly called for the destruction of EVE. Their alliance is known for scamming, griefing, and general asshattery.
Their common link, somethingawful forums, predates EVE and will outlast EVE. On it, goons openly talk about how to RMT. No doubt the talk is much more detailed on their internal forums.
"You should sell your characters to goons and sell your isk to elusif before you go. "
"is elusif still selling computer parts for eve gold?"
Am I the only person troubled by this? Is Hilmar insane? Are there other goons working for CCP that I've missed? It wasn't right when BoB/T20 pulled this stunt and it's not right when goons do it, either.
(And yes, I know I'm feeding their egos by even posting this. And yes, I know that makes them happy. And no, I'm not mad. And no the bad goon didn't touch me, so you can keep the doll. It would bother me just as much no matter which alliance was doing it.)

you should talk to a certain "Mr. Daley" - I think he can provide you (for appropriate compensation) with authentic logs of elusif advertising the sale of "eve gold" on goonswarm and test jabber (elusif got banned from test jabber after a while). You could also investigate the role of TEST's CSM representative in the discussions that lead to the silencing of elusif in TEST.
(I don't keep jabber logs so I sadly have to skip on this great opportunity )

Anyone have that link were Goons openly admit that the ultimate agenda is to get players to quit the game and eventually cause its downfall? It was some interview a few years ago. ***SPACESHIPS > ROBOTS*** |

The only problem with that is if their goons their not creditable or objective and our Devs should be creditable and objective

Actually while I personally could care less there is a great potential for a conflict of intrests when someone who works for the company also plays the game and presents themselves as just another player. I would hazzard a guess that it is in writing all CCP employees must make it known if they have a character in game so it can be red listed as it were and watched. Now I have nothing to back this up however it would be so easy for a dev to break the rules and cover his tracks from the inside not only for his character but corp and allies that I imagine CCP and any other game company keeps a watch on it. Unless of course they encourage it as one game I know allows the devs to have a "player" character that has the best of everything and an unlimited supply of in game resources to play and have fun with however that character is not counted in the rankings.

I find it funny this game is run by goons, the question is how long can goons hold power vs the Russian overlords. I seriously doubt the goons could throw up a fight vs them.

Edited by: Cyzin Jita on 20/07/2011 22:08:20 Edited by: Cyzin Jita on 20/07/2011 22:07:22 Excuse me but I didn't even bat an eyelid during those shocking revelations. It is true that more than one of the sub-communities that subscribe to EVE online partake in some very dubious actions. It is true that these people find "fun" in destroying the fun of others. It is true that this is what attracts them to playing EVE in the first place. It is true that these are the people that go out of their way to discover and take advantage of game bugs and exploits. It is also true that these people are incredibly stupid (so "smart" they're dumb) and are mega-nerds of the absolute highest order. It may be true that these people are also on the CSM/CCP. I will not speculate too much on the subject directly as involving myself with said individuals has never been, and never will be on my to-do list.
I understand it is troubling for a lot of people to find out about things like this, but believe me when I say such things as in this topic and far worse occur more often than you would care to imagine. AkJon Ferguson, I do not know who you are as you do not know me, but I would not worry about inflating the ego's of those you speak. Their egos are irrelevant. What is relevant is the actions and words spoken by the delegates voted in to represent the player base of this video game community and the staff hired to fill a role in the company. At this stage, people may think that their representatives are so far and away from their own personal agenda and what they think is important, that the words "no confidence" may come easily to their lips. I don't know what can be done about this, if anything. Suffice it to say that "it is what it is" right now, and the every man that plays EVE for entertainment would do well not to get themselves mixed up in these types of subjects. The rabbit hole is deep. Thanks for reading.

Nobody is crazy enough to work 10 years to ruin his company, since if it gets proven, he will go to jail for it.
I don't care if goons are half of the CCP staff and the 2nd half are Test. As long as the game works and is enjoyable, I will stay.
Besides, in computer games I love to kill, torture (the punisher rocked in this field), drug people, use drugs my self, blow brains out, etc. In real life I would never, ever do any of those things. Because I can differ a game from reality. If you find it a problem to differ those two, please quit, for your own good, before it's too late for you.
We do loads of stuff in games, it doesn't mean we'll do them in reality.

The quote from CCP Sreegs back when he was Goonswarm CEO is "We're not here to destroy THE game, we're here to destroy YOUR game"
Sreegs and Soundwave have abandoned Goonswarm since they got their jobs because they're not allowed to stay known in any corporation. Even if they are still in the alliance they aren't dumb enough to spawn t2 BPO's!

Some points:
- I appreciate any game where the developers care just as much about the game (not just the programming, but their actual playtime) as I do.
- EvE is about freedom. People use freedom in different ways, some to make great things, some to destroy great things. But, that's why it's called freedom. You can do what you want. EvE is the only game that goes out of it's way to allow that.
- Goons have thousands of players. The chance that one or more CCP developers or alts are in that corporation are fairly high. And if you care so much about the game, it's no doubt that you'd help your corporation and alliance succeed. Doesn't mean you'd cheat, but that doesn't stop you from working hard towards that goal nonetheless.

You aren't getting it. They were in Goonswarm then got jobs at CCP and have since not been anywhere in the alliance. They aren't allowed to.

Edited by: Lu''Marat on 20/07/2011 23:36:30 +s there any evidence that CCP employees are actively involved in Goonswarm's dirty business or even that they tolerate it? I mean, saying "there's devs in Goonswarm" is just like saying "there's devs who are German" or "there's devs who own cats". As in... some of them are bound to be, that's huge groups of people you are talking about and just because you're "one of them" doesn't mean you're part of all they do.
Plus, I very much appreciate that our devs play the game, I think the game's better for it because it let's them stay in touch with things.
