Ok, I'd like to get some input, because I'm seriously starting to think whether the whole hassle of maintaining good relationship with the two opposing factions is really worth it.
I'm Amarr, and I play in both Caldari and Amarr space, which means I have access to Jita. So far I have no interest in going into Minmatar or Gallente space, and I can't see any compelling reason to do so.
Is it a wise thing to simply not care about other faction standings, so I can do those juicy missions with tons of Gallente Insignia?

Not really, you might find yourself wanting/needing to use those slices of Empire for various reasons.

I tanked mine on four characters doing lvl5s. Just buy a clean freighter/transport character for logistics if you want to go that other space. Ain't really worth it for lvl4s though imo since you get not many tags anyway.

I thouth the same thing...then I got stuck in a wormhole....found a new exit....deep inside mini space crossing many jumps into gallente space, to get back into caldari space, also if you plan to salvage, there are many farming oppertunites in both min and gallente, not to mention most grav sites ive encountered have been in gallente space...anyway, i wouldnt. |

If you just do missions for Amarr and Caldari but don't do missions against Gallente and Minmatar and don't shoot their ships then you standing with Gallente and Minmatar will only go as low as -5 and not lower.
-5 with diplomacy V will be effective -2. So then you're safe.

If you want good relations with all factions then doing missions for the opposong faction is mandatory And if you standing is already pretty low i suggest read the faction repair plan, and do that SOE epic arc again and choose the minmataar in that second last missionmight be a pain in the ...bbut worth it
At the moment i am doing missions for amarr and the minmatar, there are plenty of minmatar staion and npc offices in amarr sspace ( freddom expression, republic intelligence , core complesxion) At the moment i have a effective standing to both at 4.5 while my gallente and caldari standing are even higher without ever doing missions for them
so ---------------------------------------------- God knows everything but a true amarrian knows everything even better |

I have something like -9.3 standing with amarr, i don't cvare really. I don't mission there and even with a slow-as BS, i can get through any 1.0 sec system just fine if i fit it right.

Let me get this straight, you're Amarr, you mission in Caldari and Amarr space, have access to Jita, like doing Anti-Empire Faction (Gallente/Minmatar) encounter missions for tags and have no interest or need to go into Minmatar/Gallente space.
Sounds like you have already made a decision, why ask?

I advise against as you donĘt know what could change for you in the future. Mine is only now OK because of diplomacy, but corp mates have some pain in the a$$ restrictions. Simply not worth it

That's basically what I did. I have -10 standing with Amarr and something like -3 with Caldari. Doesn't bother me. If I ever need to get those standings back up, It'll take some work but I can do it. Negative standings can be a pain, but they're not permanent.

I have higher standing with the Sansha's than I do with Caldari(and they are both negative) train up diplomacy, it would help... stop before you get -5

Interesting. If it's really that easy, then its much easier to just screw it and make real profit from those missions against Gallente/Minmatar (Those tags are just YUMMY).
Plus faction warfare sounds real fun, perhaps I might get involved in that as well *shrugs*.
So you say a week to get from -10 to -5 is realistic? Is that WITH or WITHOUT COSMOS/SoE?

Edited by: Nomad Vherokic on 29/07/2011 11:52:59 SoE is the least harmful way to gradually increase your gal/min standing that you have screwed with Level 5s or the faction Level 4s. It's not the quickest, but is the least harmful to your Caldari/Amarr standing. Doing the data center missions and the introductory stuff gives you a quick boost, I went from -4.99 after skills to -2.1 with Min after a couple of hours doing them, with a couple still to do which will push me below -2. (EDIT: I also went from 9.6 Caldari to 9.0 in the process due to derived standings decrease)
Once I got 9.6 in Caldari/Amarr, I got my 2 run BS/CR/FG BPCs, built the ships and sold them (that's 2Bn or so ISK right there), then there is little point in keeping it at that level. I'm now working on reducing my min/gal standing to less than -2, so I can start doing missions for them greater than level 1. With access to all the decent Caldari/Amarr agents already via the corp standings, I don't need the faction standing so I just need to keep it at -2 or better.
I trained freighters on my missioning alt so need the min/gal access if I want to trade again. --

Don't tank your faction standing, it's more fun to have locator and research agents EVERYWHERE

That thread is too much work to read.
I just need to know how to easily repair a slightly damaged standing, like -1.8

Yea maybe.
I'm sure that post outlines the fastest way possible, in a jumpy not easy to read wall of text. TLDR just to fix a slightly out of whack faction issue with one faction.

Well for current state of things. Find a lvl 1 agent of the faction needed on your territory. Start doing lvl 1 and at the same time train diplomacy (i had none). The speed will be 2-3 storyline missions per hour (you do have good skills do you ). In about 6 days you should be at 0 with diplomacy. Its before the change it was hard, took twice as long as you had to do the same but with derived standing. Ouch. Or you can use that plan thats posted, i dont see why it wouldnt work, its just too difficult for me to understand it ---- Drones eat everything. Trust me. |
