What are your thoughts I get the reasoning for it, and in a game like Diablo who really cares? It's also optional.
I just wonder what it will lead to in the future.

Yeah blizzard will make money off it. I do wonder what the potential to earn money will be. Think about it people throw a lot of money at this kinda crap already. granted some of that could be due to "black market aspect" of it.

IMO, it's a very smart move. The "black market" can't be eliminated, but it can sure get heavily neutered when official alternatives exist. This is basically an official "grey market", with Blizzard getting a cut on all transactions, and the end users DO NOT get screwed in the process.
If any of you thought the black markets were not heavily used anyway before - keep on dreaming.
This made me want to actually consider playing Diablo 3, since I wasn't more than the slightest bit interested before. I probably still won't play it though. _

I have nothing to found the following on other then my rather limited experience. It always seemed as if the Assassin rate+ item drop was severely gimped as compared to the other classes. IF my assumption is correct and this was so, I hope that Blizzard does not do this for any of the classes in DIII; as it will almost require people that want to play said class to use the MT shop to compete

I love this idea and I hope it works out really well for players and Blizzard equally. It'll be interesting to see how it works and how it progresses long term. I'm really looking forward to this game. ______________________

Since I never participated in DII's ladders anyway, it probably doesn't affect me much. I'd be ****ed if I did.
I'll be interested to see how they're going to handle loot farming though. Me and my friends still get on TCP/IP sometimes and run through Acts together. We max out gold and get all the items, jewels, runes, etc we need. Those can be directly transferred to single player characters. So is this sale house for single player items, or ladder items? If three of us grind away on games set to 8 players and get phat dropz, that would be great to sell them. But everyone else can do it too, which will completely devalue the market.

Dooh!
Either way; if a class' item drop rate is gimped and that class is a favorite of the players it will be great for the farmers.

Shows how much I've been keeping up. So they're going the Starcraft II route? A net connected 'portal' that runs the game in all it's facets? ----------------------- The called us fierce marauders Warp riders and guns for hire The night the sky cried tears of fire |

Theoretically, maybe. Practically, you'll get goldfarmers from anywhere on just about any server. _

Well, of course. There were bots, dupers, and illicitly sold items on every D2 sever so that wouldn't provide a barrier.
That said, if you have four smaller marketplaces vs. one large one you could expect items to vary in value and at least early on, hold a premium in the areas with more buyers (ie. the US/EU markets) compared to the seller heavy markets.
In other words, for a few weeks, months, or however long it takes the rmt crowd to become established the regular players may have the ability to make some appreciable coin if they were so inclined.
