well, everybody agrees on the probes showing up in the scanners, it's stupid. The AB is arguable, but the mwd is totally out of question. Makes em friggies much too powerful.
The targeting thingie is not a good idea imho, totally out of context with the current (and very important) role of the cov ops in gangs.

So, can you currently launch the probes and then cloak without messing up the chances of finding anything? I had been led to believe that you couldn't cloak at any stage of the process if you wanted to find anything.

You can cloak while doing scan analysis without any problems, but I'm not sure if warping messes up the scan or not. Seems to me that it does but don't know if the scan would have failed anyway. Some testing is in order but I was going to wait till post-patch.

Edited by: MaiLina KaTar on 25/04/2005 12:24:22 [rant] Played around with them some more and found them to be completely useless unless your target is either afk/really stupid/not player controlled/on the galactic plane.
Tbh I think the entire system shouldbe replaced with something more sophisticated.
It takes you less than a minute to make a safespot. So why should it take me several minutes and a huge chunk of luck to bust that spot when I have payed 30m+ isk for the ship plus probes?
Doesn't really make sense tbh. IMO you should only need to use one probe for an omnidirectional scan and then keep dropping smaller probes after warping to the result BMs until you reach target. That would take less time, less money, less server resources, less "f* off he warped" moments and last but not least it would work more reliable.
Don't know... somehow I'm growing tired from CCPs feature implementations. They always overdo it and then it doesn't work properly. You end up investing months worth of training into stuff that just doesn't work.
I'm using hightech futuristic scanning probes and fail. Might aswell switch to a simple telescope, eh? [/rant]

Originally by: Fred Meyer Allow passive targeting while cloaked, and be able to use cargo/ship/survey scanners while doing so. I'd like to see afterburner use too while cloaked. Obviously no weapons while cloaked.
However, once you decloak, you lose lock on your target, and you must go through the sensor recalibration cycle to target someone again. That prevents the whole invisable surprise gank.

Absolutely agree with you here. I think what CCP needs to do is work on the CO ships they have instead of making new ones(stealth Bombers)
I'd really like to know how to get a word to CCP about anything, i almost never see replies from them about things unless it is a ridiculously long thread.... --------------------------- !!Bookmarking Master!! Cargo scanning can be simple. Make it a passive think like the multi-roid scanners. It simply operates over a large radius of jetcans with engines attached.
It just needs to be able to activate without decloak. Simple. Easy.
