Amarr the math after freight works

Hi. Today I was doing a mission in hi-sec 'Gone Berserk' Level 3. About two thirds of the way through the mission two ships arrived and started to salvage my wrecks and take the loot. Luckily there was a very handy person on the help channel who told me what to do; because these people kept on telling me to attack, saying "i'm just a frigate" and stuff. But I ignored them and shot all of the wrecks with loot in and eventually they left.
This was the first time I had ever been ninja salvaged in EVE and I got very anxious at first. I didn't shoot them because I knew that they would easily kill me back, I was in a BC and they were in Navy Frigates.
Although I did manage to get them to leave by destroying the wrecks, has anyone got any advice of what to do in future?

You did the right thing, they left. Getting ninja salvaged is, 99% of the time, a trap. Often the ships that show up are weak and look like easy pickings; there is something bigger waiting for you to open fire, nearly always. The ninja salvagers rarely want the crap they steal, they want you to open fire so they can gank you.

Except if I kill the bait ship then only the bait ship owner can attack me back, so how do the bigger ships come and get me? Or does he change to a bigger one after I fire?

Yup, that's exactly what he does. Sometimes using a neutral Orca he warps into the mission space.. it can happen so fast you barely notice them drop point to switch ships. You did the right thing.

I have my alt in a noctis salvaging as I go. Unless it is a mission with multiple waves with new aggro I will have the noctis in the same room salvaging wrecks as I kill. It would be dam hard for a ninja salvager to get to any of my wrecks in time.

A long time ago when I was doing navy missions in Motsu I usted to get occassionally ninja'd, I salvaged and looted my wrecks in a kestrel and when I saw the ninja taking loot and going red to me I warped off and reshipped to a combat kestrel, whose name I changed to match my salvage kestrel. He let me fly right up to him scram, web, and blast his destroyer to bits with my rocket kestrel, it was fun, and he was ****ed, he reshipped to a crow, I reshipped up to my drake then he reshipped to a megathron but by then his kill rights had expired and he had to go off to buy another destroyer. I was probably pretty lucky he didn't have a nuetral repper ready to warp in and keep my kestrel from killing him, but it sure was fun.

if you are not planning on salvaging yourself just abandon all the wrecks
if you plan on salvaging yourself warp out when a new wave of rats spawn and let them get all the agro :)
if you warp out a few times they will stop coming in

1) Get some corpies to help and shoot the dude repeatedly. This forces you to learn a little bit about PVP and stop being the victim all while everyone has some laughs
2) Shoot the wrecks, except that we really do think this is funny, especially when you've brought a Noctis along with you.
3) Bring an Alt or corpmate in with a Noctis, the greatest anti-ninja tool in all of EVE.
4) Completely ignore the ninja, or even better, act like you're a bot. In the latter case, of course we'll report you, but in most cases, the local ninjas will learn that they'll never get a rise out of you.
5) Have some fun by smackin' it up in local with the ninja. Don't you get bored just playing by yourself?
6) ALWAYS shoot Skippermonkey since he is harmless and a massive troll. _____________________________________ Join our public channel "Ninja Dojo" Recruiting is now: INVITE ONLY Visit our Forum |

But how do I know that he wont shoot me back, the situation I was in, I was in my Harbinger, he was in an Imperial Navy Slicer, all of the people I asked said I wouldn't stand a chance at hitting it.

keep a pvp fit ship with same name as your mission one always close and when they come in warp out and switch...if hes using a slicer to bait u then an alpha harby will instapop him and i doubt hell come back for more after a 50m loss frig...if he does in general he'll come in guns blazing in a battleship so an AB harby with scram and web will easily get under his tracking...then its just getting your drones to kill his in case its ecm drones. *Sol* > Charlie what have you gotten me into this time u fu.....!

[Harbinger, Alpha harby] Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Tracking Enhancer II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Damage Control II
10MN Afterburner II Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Warp Disruptor II
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Conflagration M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Conflagration M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Conflagration M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Conflagration M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Conflagration M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Conflagration M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Conflagration M Small Remote Armor Repair System II /OFFLINE
Medium Energy Burst Aerator I Medium Energy Collision Accelerator I
Warrior II x5 Hornet EC-300 x5
with this fit u can easily instapop the slicer...just let him come close use conflagration and tracking speed scripts.
as for when he'll come guns blazing in a battleship most likely use this :
[Harbinger, AB solo bs fight] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Adaptive Nano Plating II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Damage Control II
10MN Afterburner II Warp Scrambler II Stasis Webifier II Small Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 25

Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Vespa EC-600 x5
full rack of heavy pulse lasers doesnt fit and i like to keep the focused ones to pop the drones, just a little split dps and when enemy is using ecm drones it helps a lot. also the remote armor rep is NOT a heat sink, use it to repair your own ecm drones as he will most likely try to pop them.

most stupid advice u could give since the person ur talking to is a mission runner...going into lowsec is pretty much and invite for pirates to probe him down and gank him without even the restrictions there are in highsec and the limited protection of police and concord. (if he went to lowsec even id try to gank him so...) *Sol* > Charlie what have you gotten me into this time u fu.....!

The following list includes the worst case scenarios for ninja encounters. These are situations that all mission runners and PVE'ers would like to avoid.
ninjas that have become addicted to tears and mission loot. Once ninjas become accustomed to mission loot and tears, they become drawn to areas of capsuleer occupation. This may include backcountry complexes far from mission hubs. A history of poor tears management by exploration plex runners can add backcountry complexes to a ninjas regular forays.
ninjas that have noobs in training. In this situation, the vet may not leave the area, but rather will defend the noobs. The CEO may attack quickly if you are within its comfort zone. Be ready with your ninja spray, and be prepared to initiate a warp if possible.
ninjas with second year noobs that may participate in a bluff charge. Again, this can be a very dangerous situation as you are now dealing with multiple ninjas. While this is very rare, it would allow the gang to protect a kill site more effectively.
ninjas defending a kill site. ninjas are very aggressive when protecting a kill site. Learn to watch for signs of kill sites such as large accumulations of ravens and other scavenging ships.
Predatory Encounters. While this is a rare situation, and generally refers to predatory attacks by black ninjas, this can be a very serious encounter. Since the ninja is hunting you as prey, you must be prepared for an imminent attack. The ninja may circle you, slowly moving in closer and closer until it decides whether to attack or not.

Set your wrecks blue - works 95% of the time for me. Seriously - setting wrecks blue drives away most ninjas because they are trying to get you to shoot at them - the few that stay are actually decent people so you might as well help them out a bit. ----------

Every corp, even a full pve oriented corp, should always instruct its members to have pvp fitted ships ready in their home system. With plenty of ewar capabilities. Sure, you could just ignore them as the loot/salvage is a waste of time anyway. But wouldn't you rather get a juicy kill? Especially if they're flying T3s.
A ninja looter will fit his ship to exploit the weakness of a pve fitted battleship. Which is cap use, slow tracking, no ewar, no buffer and no speed. Most fits are high gank, speed tankers. Anything your corp members bring in the form of ewar and RR will be bad news for the ninja.
Afterwards dock up and ignore local.

and dont kill him in your faction/faction fit BS. kill him in a BC. and make sure it has a point on it. "something quirky here" |

Usual outcome of you initiating "hostile diplomacy" with him is that he points you while you take damage from the mission ships and him.
Eventually your ship will be in structure and he'll try to ransom your ship. Pay the ransom and he'll still keep you tackled, don't pay and you'll get blown up. Theyre really only there for your tears.
Take away the opportunity for him to loot-flip him and he'll leave. By blowing up the wrecks or abandoning them thats exactly what you do. Which is also why he left.

1) Do what you did.
2) If confident allign to a celectial straight away form him, wait until he is playing with cans well over 50kms away, watch his transversal and when it hit a low point let him have a full volley with warriors out. If you do not do omgwtfbbq damage warp to the celestial at 100kms immediately, drop SS on the way, warp back to SS then warp to stations and dock for aggro timer.
Safe fun and you ll get a kill every now and then, especially vs dessies with Megapulse and Scorch or 800 a/cs ...
Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

Edited by: ChromeStriker on 31/08/2011 12:23:01 I was missioning in my mael when a guy turned up in a incursus and started ninja'ing. I finnished what i was doing alligned to a safe spot, locked him, n just before i warped alpha'd his ass with 1400's.
I picked up 2 megas on d scan everyso often after, but i just kept warping to safes untill the timer finnished.
Moral of the story, have a million safe spots (at least 3 in places u hang out), and people that rely on you being stupid arnt normally very clever themselfs. - Nulla Curas |
