CCP Fallout lives in NY and is expecting to get some nasty weather and lose power but she should be OK. Hopefully everyone else is doing well and staying dry.
As for Fallout hear she has a fully stocked nuclear "fallout" shelter! *rimshot* Ugg that was a terrible pun I apologize....
And moved from General Discussion.

Apparently it was only a tropical storm by the time it hit NY, and damage was extremely minimal. Of course, that doesn't stop CNN from urging people to stay inside because they might get hit by flying newspapers. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

I've worked in Emergency Management in hurricane subject regions for 18 years.
While prediction is better than it has ever been, the big problem with hurricanes is that "If you wait till you know for sure that it is going to be bad, it is TOO LATE." To be sure of not being there when it is bad, you'll probably evacuate close to ten times that turned out to be minor for every one evacuation that turns out to be fully justified.
Spend money, or eventually spend lives (and money).
On a related note, in-land flooding is a serious hazard with these storms, especially the large sized ones (regardless of strength). Areas that don't normally flood, even in 'normal' heavy rain, flood, and catch people out and surprise them. The results can be lethal.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

For our top story we go now live to the east coast with correspondent Vex...
THIS IS VKHAUN VEX REPORTING LIVE FROM YESTERDAY FOR CHANNEL 1337 NEWS
Hello, Vex. I see you've found shelter by a tree there.
NO SUSAN I'M JUST STANDING OUTSIDE HERE BY THIS TREE, HOLDING ON FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT. I AM A HEALTHY THREE HUNDRED POUNDS AND IN NO DANGER, BUT WE STRONGLY CAUTION ANYONE WEIGHING ONLY A FEW ONCES TO STAY INSIDE OR RISK BEING SWEPT AWAY BY THE WIND!
How is the wind, it's forecast to be ferocious!
YES SUSAN THE WIND IS LIKE ONE OF THOSE LITTLE CHEAP DESK FANS... BUT LIKE I'M HOLDING IT RIGHT UP TO MY FACE, SUSAN. I CAN FEEL THE AIR MOVING ABOUT... SOME TIMES.
You're yelling Vex, why is that? Is it hard to hear us over the hurricane?
NO SUSAN I CAN HEAR YOU JUST FINE OVER THESE FLATULENCE STRENGTH WINDS.
