Telling people to unsub can be both productive and counterproductive. In a sense, the only thing people are failing to do is unsub after complaining. then they can resub when the game fits their liking. the counter to this is that if the player wants to be playing the game in the future, they have to stay subbed to train skills. I don't see a work around... they will just have to man up and risk 1-6 months of game time/sp gains :P
or theres enough of a drop they either kill the game to focus on vampire barbies OR let EVE stagnate and only use it for alpha testing vampire barbie tech while they "stay the course" --------- Fear the Hamster Long live Top Gear |

Edited by: Tuggboat on 03/09/2011 15:36:19 Im actually pretty hopeful for the winter expansion. I noticed a cycle in all products developed on Microsoft platforms similar to ours. If nothing else, I've developed a faith in the cycle. It takes time.
It looks like we are steering toward the mach larger social app customer base instead of the MMO base. This could be quite fun for us. Have you seen the numbers on the social sites? Imagine hundreds of thousands of noobs from farmville attacking null sec alliances in ignorance. Incursion like teams of strangers gathered at the bookstore on their ipads looking for ratters and such. Defending ourselves from invading hoards of Rifters. Thousands of them:) Us against them instead of each other. Bitter vets squashing noobs like farmville cow dung.

I have to ask...
Why uMad?
cuz... you sound mad.
Because disgruntled people really unsub when told to.
Because droping eve entirely would be a good decision in any way shape or form?
yea, no. dropping eve would be cataclysmic to CCP. It would be like blizzard dropping WoW just because they lost huge chunks (reports of over 1/3 playerbase) of subs. because the people who have invested time into the game would be too disgruntled at the drop of the game to ever try any other products from the same company.
why would we want eve to stagnate with the people complaining? seriously... why refrain from asking them to just not play, they are likely already contributing enough by complaining on the forums. some idiots are bound to just follow like sheep. I've seen it IRL... people generally don't think for themselves... induce an idea that seems well placed, and people will follow, no matter how bad the idea.
bottom line, CCP can't drop eve. Also note... they are attempting to integrate their "vampire barbies" into eve. if they drop eve, they drop ... i hate calling them vampire barbies... sounds... iffy...
PS - have you ever cooked food? yes, let Eve stagnate... in the poor setting of people *****ing about every little detail of a game that they don't like. instead of telling them the truth... the game is not for them if they can't understand what the base idea of eve is all about.

not from a programming stand point...
problem with actually having to rely on flight skill in an MMO is some of us would **** everyone else.
plus joystick control is only really appropriate for fighters ala Wing Commander, FreeSpace 2, etc.
I'd guess that even a professional and high skilled USAF pilot with a high-end Flight-Sim joystick would most likely be pwned by the next console kid that plugged in his XBOX 360 controller.

That's a jet, not a ship. Try to joystick control an aircraft carrier and see how far that gets you.

Edited by: pr0spect on 03/09/2011 16:06:44 It's not like the hate is just here as well. I've noticed on massively.com, anytime they post an article about Eve the comments are just filled with vitriol spewing forth about how CCP has destroyed Eve and disenfranchised their core player base.
I really hope they turn it around, at this point they can NOT defend against assessments that what they've done has been a significant (but not ultimate.... yet) failure.

Anyone who has worked in guest relations in the past knows... the majority of people who will comment will be the disgruntled populace.
Attention *****s imo. I actually haven't heard very much in-game complaining besides myself being a terrible PvP pilot :P
