BIG KUDOS -to bUBbLeS & jasmine
enough with balancing! you have near perfection atm.. ok.. reduce the megapulse a bit if you must to appease the nonthinkers in the game.. remove the path seeking AI on missiles, *maybe* add a tick or two to tracking to large projectiles and thats it!. leave the ammo alone stop making a flavour of the month ship, -and pleeeease stop trying to push everything to a nice homogenized, BORINGLY balanced, we-all-fly-the-same-ship-with-different-skins game!
my god...if i didnt know better, i'd swear you moved your HQ to here in America and let some schmuc.ks from EA marketing brainwash your developers into redesigning this game into some PC correct, fun for the family game thats gonna be headed straight for the $5 impulse buy bin at the checkout counter in Wal-Mart ::whew::
ok look at like this:
CCP, -you created an uber risky, ground breakingly HUGE successful sci-fi social experiment of a game chock-full of politics, market/trade economics (omg the trade/market system currently, and its future potential is just too cool for words!), fleet warfare, 1v1 PvP, carebaringly relaxing mining, fun-neverending PvE, SCAMS, ebil pirates, noble pirates, extremely stressful mining, MegaCorps, ebil alliances, good alliances(?), thriving economies one week, crumbling the next. -and to top it all off, a thriving social life that is second to none, that is and always will be by and large, supported by us adults with bank accounts and attention spans FAR longer than any teenager with Eve Online on his X-mas list could ever dream of.
-and you *think* you can balance this? ha! what an absurd notion!..
but more importantly..WHY!!?? you have achieved almost the impossible imho.. chaotic harmony on a grand scale.. i bet there is a bank shrinks or socialogolists(whatever you call them) somewhere that would love to dedicate a good portion of they're time observing and writing a thesis on what you've created here.. and you want iron out all the wrinkles here?
-shame on you.
I really think you owe it to yourself and us the main playerbase, to take heed to what has been said here in regards to reducing this game to catering to the lowest common denominator.(esp from bUBbLeS & Jasmine)
you should fire your marketing dept and go with your original vision of this game. it's what got you here today, and what will keep you here forever. stop trying to please every market demographic on the planet. as you continue to remove the thoughtfactor and challenges from the game, the players with 4 and 5 accounts will reduce to 2 and 3, -and the ones with only 1 account who pondered another, may soon soon dissipate and become none.
-and new passers by stopping by to take a gander at your galaxy will just keep going, mumbling to themselves "bah, just another *just add water* galaxy"
cease and disist from this incessant balancing to please your bean counters. for they only care about their bottom line. they have no passion for your vision of this game. they will quit and leave you holding the bag as soon as some other Corp offers them better medical benefits and free battleships. ;p
Keep Eve the gritty, ruthless, hardcore thinking mans game YOU, the developers envisioned and created. -complete with unfair advantages and practices for us to overcome.
it is our task to overcome overwhelming odds and unfair tactics of other races thru teamwork, ingenuity or shear brute force, not yours.
you need only provide us with a deep, multi-faceted story chock-full of content to play out our fantasies with and the tools to build or destroy our empires with.
we, your loyal playersbase, who would gladly keep your coffers full, who is so hooked on your living, breathing work Art, will support you 100% in all your efforts..
-but this balancing crap has got to stop.. you have(had) achieved perfect balance a few times now.. time to feed the content monster..he's very hungry.
and all this rambling from a 40something...go figure.. kk, enuff. i have work in a few hours...
