This is upsetting. As a Goonswarm Federation director, I must say that we do not approve of recruitment scams - who was the member that scammed you? please leave |

Frostys Virpio wrote:You know, the "too good to be true" expression is actualy true sometime.
They offer somethinga long the line of free isk, crazy ship reimbursement plan, showing you the ropes of pretty much anything, logistical support for most activity, ratting/mining in thier relatively safe space and more. The first time I talked to a recruiter, it really sounded way too good to be true after researchign what soem stuff actually meant. (english not being a 1st alnguage is funny sometime)
Basicly, anyone losing isk to a goon recruitement is not putting any effort at all into it.
You want to know what's funny? We do have a crazy ship reimbursement plan, we have members experienced in basically every aspect of the game, we have cheap-as-dirt private logistics services, and while our space isn't "safe" by any stretch of the word, avoiding getting blown is simple if you're not dumb. As far as "free ISK" - well, we paid dudes 500M ISK for every 'decent' propaganda poster (glorified image macros) and horrible video tutorials for newbies. A lot of our doctrine ships are over-reimbursed, so there's that too. please leave |

Paul Oliver wrote:And for those claiming that Goons don't scam I say that you are liars, during my second week I was asking around the in game recruitment channel about a corp to join and a Goon responded trying to get me to pay a 500mil isk "deposit" to join. Naturally not being a complete moron I told this "recruiter" to kiss my pasty ass and I've been an adamant Goon hater ever since.
This claim is demonstrably false because you were never in the recruitment channel.
Lose the 'i'm a new player guys!' gimmick because you're not. please leave |

Paul Oliver wrote:If its "demonstrably false" I encourage you to please "demonstrabe" it. Otherwise stfu Goon because I for one am glad this topic exists to warn new players of the potential danger you and your alliance mates represent to them.
You should crack open a dictionary and look up "demonstrably." And yes, the evidence that you've never spoken in the recruitment channel is there - you've never spoken in the recruitment channel because it's publicly logged and it's easy to tell. Off with you, sockpuppet! please leave |

As I've said, the recruitment channel is publicly logged and there is no evidence of you ever saying a word in that channel. please leave |

Cipher Jones wrote:No offense you should know its not legal to scam in the recruitment channel.
If it wasn't in the recruitment channel it is still "legal".
Its pretty ironic because of the Soundwave quote about some of the players not making it being a good thing. I understand what he meant but if you put that quote next to a Goon recruitment scam for people to see it will certainly put a dent in new subs.
The rule against using the recruitment channel to find marks was lifted long ago. Scamming in the recruitment channel would be more along the lines of linking scam contracts or whatever, which isn't allowed (nor is "legitimate" trading, for that matter) please leave |

Scamming in the recruitment channel would be more along the lines of linking scam contracts or whatever, which isn't allowed (nor is "legitimate" trading, for that matter) I fully support what the goons do on almost every level, however I have to admit that this is the one area where I sometimes wish they would lighten up a little. I fully realize that new players need to find out at some point that no one is holding their hands... that they must look out for themselves... but I think that often people haven't had a fair chance to develop that mindset yet when they get hit by this. I just get concerned that it sometimes costs us what would eventually be some very good players. Don't get me wrong, I don't want CCP to come down on it in some heavy handed way, that would do far more harm than good. I just wish it could be a decision that your organization made internally.
There is literally nothing we can do to police recruitment scams to prevent people from scamming legitimate newbies and such a thing isn't even on the totem pole of org priorities.
But a new player is rarely a lucrative target for a scam unless they've purchased PLEX. The usual guideline is 3 months or older, and by your third month you should know that you can get scammed in EVE. Many of our marks, including all of my own, are years-old veterans who are either totally oblivious to this fact or aware that scamming exists in EVE but gullible enough to fall for it anyway. please leave |

The fact that year old player fall for scams like that is sad.
We occasionally get those "new players" who are obviously the exclusive targets of our scams to jump their carriers (known for being flown by new players) into our systems where they're met with a welcoming party: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14428449 please leave |
