Hey all
This post is just in regards to watch out for the goons and their convincing join our corp/alliance scams... it is very convincing but as i know now was a waste of time and isk, i started out new and bought some isk because i wanted a little kick start. anyhow now to business
They start by doing a normal interview and telling you about the programs that goons run like for example ship replacement and carrier programs for people that wish to go down that road, it gets to the point where they ask you to applied at a site which looks really well made and legit, where you have to supple your API code(full) in which they check how much isk you have and determine an entry fee to make sure your not a spy...... and at the same time shorty after they tell you that they have a free relocating service in which they can help you transfer all of your goods to their home base so by the time your accepted you'll be ready to go.
please heed this warming don't fall for these scams, if someone opens a private conversation with you that is from goonswarm that wish to recruit you just close it and don't bother, save your time and maybe a lot of isk.
i simply joint a new game with some extra in-game money and well wanted to join the biggest group out there as my reasoning was that, if they are one of the larges names/ or amount of people they must be doing something right which i wanted to learn from(pvp wise).
i was very much disappointed but in the same time good on you that was worth paying for the isk in return for the entertainment of fake recruiting, the amount of effort you went through to convince me was outstanding.
so in short new players this is just another scam to be aware of, my only tip and exp out of this is to only join a corp that DOES NOT require a entry fee for any reason.

I hope you mean PLEX. If that's the case then yeah, sorry that happened to you. Seems you learned the lesson the hard way.
If you actually directly bought ISK, well, then I can tell you being scammed out of your ISK is a less severe punishment than having the GMs set your wallet balance negative by that same amount.

Don't be put off. Goons are actually a pretty pleasant bunch.
They have a strict rule of never scamming the same person twice. It makes sense, how do you think they could have possibly got so many members if they continuously scammed everyone who thought about joining? If you try again you'll have no problem getting in. |

I fully endorse this statement and agree. They allowed me in for a while after they originally scammed me and later let me the second time.
Goons are wonderful.

I too did not bother to read or do any research and because of my failure to "Google" or read forums have just given 500million to a really pleasant guy who promised me he could get me into the Goonz and get me flying a titan in 14 hours.
I am sad now

The wiki may be out of date, but that page is referring to the Goonwaffe corp, the main corp in GSF. There are other corporations in GSF that don't have the requirements Goonwaffe does, but they don't have application fees either.
Goonwaffe, however, does have an application fee of sorts. $10, specifically, to join the Something Awful forums.

You know, the "too good to be true" expression is actualy true sometime.
They offer somethinga long the line of free isk, crazy ship reimbursement plan, showing you the ropes of pretty much anything, logistical support for most activity, ratting/mining in thier relatively safe space and more. The first time I talked to a recruiter, it really sounded way too good to be true after researchign what soem stuff actually meant. (english not being a 1st alnguage is funny sometime)

You want to know what's funny? We do have a crazy ship reimbursement plan, we have members experienced in basically every aspect of the game, we have cheap-as-dirt private logistics services, and while our space isn't "safe" by any stretch of the word, avoiding getting blown is simple if you're not dumb. As far as "free ISK" - well, we paid dudes 500M ISK for every 'decent' propaganda poster (glorified image macros) and horrible video tutorials for newbies. A lot of our doctrine ships are over-reimbursed, so there's that too.
