It seems many people are making all kind of suggestions to make pvp better today so here is my suggestion. Most of the time today about 90-100% of people who get their ship destroyed in fleet battle today get away in their pod. This gives them a chance to go a few hops and pick up a brand shiney new ship that is insured just like the last one they lost. This puts player losses at a very low lvl, giving wars the ability to last forever... Making pods pop sometimes when a ship explodes would force more travel and time consumed so that a team can actually begin to win a battle. good idea? probably not...but there is my alternative...

No thx.
Although I am very pro-griefing, there's no need to push people over the line. Podkilling is a bonus in a fight, and making it happen even more randomly than it currently is ain't a good idea for anyone.
Other than that, egg-*****ing rules -

losing you pod actually shortens your travel time if you ahve your clone set right, ever try moving a pod without instas it can be really slow.

So your solution to improving PvP is to make the risk of a damaging loss higher and to make getting replacement kit harder to get hold of?
What next? Perhaps we should force everyone to be wired up to their computer so that when their ship blows up they get a lethal electric shock. Yeah. That should encourage more people to take part in PvP.

Yeah.. having to randomly put 17 mill into a new clone when I die sounds fun.. not to mention I'd have to go mine in yulai with fear of randomly loosing my implants. _________________________________________________________

So if my pod gets destroyed that means I will need a 16 mil dollar clone. I would stop PVP. count not pay for insurance and a clone everytime... I would rethink. My vote is Keep the pods just the way they are.

Are you joking right!
Insurance costs therefore is a money sink
Insurance doesn't even cover a ship... only if you are flying a frigate
Therefore losing insured ships cause some damage to any wallet. Because not only does not cover ship's prices (at current market state) but also does not cover named items either basic modules.
So I guess that do u want also to cause more pain than what exist atm?
Then if we go to extreme, then why not kill the player+clone at same time?
My vote is keep as it exist today!

Pod yourself each time solves the problem.

It's not needed tbh. The only change the devs should do is stop the pod insta warping out when the person logs off just before their ship gets destroyed or at least put in a delay (becoming a more common tactic everyday).

It's not quite so simple to replace a ship... sure, insurance can replace the basic ship, but I know quite a few people flying around in ships that cost around 500-800M isk when you total up the components. Even if you refit with non-rare components, it still takes time to get all the equipment together.
In addition to losing a clone and having to fork over another 12+M isk for that... many people have implants, which make the loss of a clone seem insignificant. Pods are pretty hard to kill, they should be...
It is already plenty painful in eve to lose a ship, especially when compared to other MMO games out there... I don't think making it more painful to lose a ship is the right way to go. |
