Edited by: The Enslaver on 14/03/2005 17:36:31 Recently bought an Amarr Navy Slicer, and I have to say - it sucks.
Atm its just a novelty ship, but its got more mass and less speed than an assault frig, with less HP, worse slot loadouts and no insane resistances.
Now, at the moment they can be beaten by non-elite and non-faction ships - yep, I'm pretty certain a half decent rifter or punisher pilot can kill a skilled Slicer pilot - And tbh, thats really not right :S --------

It works like this: Tech II frig > 'Named' Faction ship > Tech I frig
I havent checked all the stats on faction ships but the ones i did check have better stats then their T1 brothers, so losing a fight with a T1 frig is silly ---------------------------

think of them as named T1 ships.
Having said that I feel they should reside roughly halfway between the T1 and T2 variants, atm, they're about 10% of the way.

I wholeheartedly agree they shouldn't be better than T2.
And Joshua - compare the Slicer to the Punisher. Punisher has almost half the mass.
The Slicer only has an extra low slot and a few more HP. Now, tbh, the speed is the most important thing in frig vs frig fights, so slicer would lose...

I bought a Navy Caracal and Hookbill, myself; not regretting it one bit.
Why? Well, if I want a fighting ship, I hop in a Crow, Harpy, Eagle or Raven as is appropriate -- but if I want the ship equivalent of a parade uniform? Out comes the faction ship.

It has been demonstrated time and time again that wasting developers time by coding in useless trophy items that take forever and ever to get only to rot in a virtual hangar is not a really smart decision to adding content.

Why in gods name should they be better than a Tech II frig ?
thats not what they are. If they release faction assault frigs then you can expect a bit more from them
Same as faction cruisers.. theyre ****. but they are better than the standard ones which is the whole point.

rareity and cost but i agree we need tech 2 versions of faction ships, too make them worth using in a fight they may be hard as hell too get but make you a much tougher opponent in combat.

They do kinda suck don't they?
How many hours of mission running and ISK go into one faction frigate? Lots. And they aren't all that good. They cost so much that they aren't worth risking in combat.
Maybe if they were equal to an assault frigate - but the gallente faction boat isn't much better than a 200k Tristan.
Hey CCP - why not reward those busy agent runners with something a bit more useful?

There's not a lot of senseless whinging in this thread there's actually suggestions on how too remedy the situation.

If im not mistaken, you can get faction modules which sell and are very usefull in combat.. You also forgeting that the offer system is an extra candy for all agent runners. Before Exodus it was implants, now its faction modules and implants.. I mean wth? Do you want 100Mil rewards on a mission or what?

agree, but as for agent LP offer, it goes somewhere like 4-8 t2 frig = Tech I 'named' faction ship. They are over priced imho.
wonder if CCP will alter the LP offer every patch eg. stop offering current faction ship and offering new type of ships (value goes up) or start introducing its bpo. ( value goes down )
either way, we are going to see lots of whine after the current faction ship hype is over. |

Edited by: iconoclast on 16/03/2005 08:48:00 I'm not looking for huge rewards. But it would be nice if it was useful.
Look at it this way: What can you do with a faction frigate? Not PvP - it's too fragile relative to the cost. Agent missions? Sure, Level 2 agent missions. Maybe a few at level 3. It's an awesome n00b ship. Make it a one time reward for the level 2 runners.
As it is the only practical way to get one of these is to run level 4 missions. And if you run level 4 missions you don't need a n00b ship like this. So why bother?
And don't even get me started on how little CPU it has.
Edit: 2 more thoughts - Or they should be as tough as an Assault frigate and/or give them a very unique bonus. (Like make the faction police ships immune from customs agent cargo scans?)

I think they'd be perfect only if they got with interceptor mass - true inty kings. And if the faction offer req was reduced to some 30-40k LP, they'd even be receivable on a fairly regular basis, thus bringing down their price and making them a good deal more useable; they'd be to T2 ships what faction mods are to T2 mods. I really don't understand the devs' rationale for making them useless, overly difficult to acquire and utterly crap.

to be honsest the frigate and crusier faction ships should realy recive a boost cause the time to get one (and adding the stats into it) their value in combat is absolutly none.. cause they'll be a more popular target or not even used in PVP... the navy ones should be more improved or their LP requirements redused.. this does not go for the navy BS..
