Eve has pioneered an idea about learning skill while off-line. This allows for players to log-off and still gain skill. This is great for CCP. Why you say? Because while we are not on, learning those skills, while paying the fees we do not stress the CCP servers with our presence, while maximizing CCP's profit. I am all for profit, but how about little kick-back? How about learning acceleration while offline? This will give even more profit for CCP while allow more folks to get those skills. For every cumulative 24 hour off-line period, allow 2-3% bonus in learning? WoW got this idea in rested character. If character is rested it gains exp faster in the game. Eve should allow for a similar bonus to the players who stay offline.

No, that would just cause people to grow even more accounts simply for selling them on ebay. If not logging in increases their training speed it will only help them. ---------------------------

There is nothing wrong with EBay. This idea will benefit players and the CCP. What is wrong with that? You possible arguments about community balance are notwithstanding.

Acording to the EULA you may not sell any of CCP's property (ie everything ingame) for non ingame money.
If you look at the sales forum people are very clear that the person selling the account will pay the FULL cost for transfering the account, even having the person buying the account pay that fee seems to be a nono in CCP's eyes.
As for allowing the player to get a bonus while training logged off ... how would this benefit CCP?
CCP wants as many players as possible to be online as much of the time. This is one of the reasons CCP wishes to get people out into 0.0 as the hubs controlling 0.0 regions have barely no load unless there is a blob out atempt and the hubs controling the central systems always have a high load.
Many people online at the same time and low or no lag will give more customers and thus more profit.
Alot of offline paying customers is not bad but not as good as a happy online player :)

Simple matter of economics. More paying sucker, err customers, =>off-line less load on the system=>less needed investment in infrastructure=>more profit for CCP. On the other hand, higher acceleration of learning=> more people reach higher skills faster=>ability for customers to enjoy the game to the fullest=>more happy customers=>better word of mouth about the game=>more new customers=>rinse and repeat.

Why should players offline get a training bonus? I don't understand your logic. I think the whole thing is CCP wants more people online not less. The only person who would want such a feature is someone who doesn't play...

I think its a good idea but the wrong way around.
You should get skill acceleration whilst online not offline.
More you play the faster you learn

you need to be offline for a hour or 8 and if you go back online to kill some beasts to gain experience you can do this for about a hour or 2 then you return to Normal which works out fine for the people that can't be online for more then 3 hours i guess
but if you stop playing WoW you stop getting experience points and leveling up infact you can be online on WoW all day long but if you're not Killing Beasts and doing quests you won't gain anything in Experience or levels (maybe a 100 experience every now and then from just exploring the other areas)
here you can start the skill and log off and do something else if you're not in the mood to play all day

As stated above, this idea is backwards. Yes CCP profits short term from server load etc for an offline bonus- but long term it kills the game. CCP is taking pride in it's 'record numbers' and for any exterior funding, and for all marketing, that is going to be their cornerstone.
To encourage growth (which is lacking atm) they need to create a bonus for newer players that are willing to bust their ass for hours online. The skill book, passive learning is great for players such as myself that have 2 jobs and a 'life' (sorta). After over a year, I've accumulated millions of sp's. However, what about the new customer? They need a way to accelerate their learning. I think they need to introduce 'experience' points that accumulate and that you can apply to your attributes. Example, kill 1000 npc frigs, get a point added to Perception. Kill 10k of them, get another point.
As usual, my numbers are not supposed to be concrete. Make BS worth more points etc. Allow it to carry to all aspects of the game- do 1000 agent missions, gain a point in social. Research enough, get an intelligence point. I don't feel like spelling out EVERYTHING, that's what Oveur, Tommy B and the gang to figure out!
But this way a new player can play more and advance a little more quickly, and even the seasoned players can get a little bonus, but the non-players (like me) just have to settle for the good ol' way of not doing a damn thing.

Edited by: Denz0 on 18/03/2005 02:19:06 I agree, bonus for new players, that tapers off with skill accumulation.
