Well first he said he fought blasterthrons, so not loser gankageddon pilots. Second, torp ravens will beat even the best blasterthrons given equal skills at least 9/10.

Edited by: Hobbsalong on 17/03/2005 03:16:51 As for most sniper setups. The Raven can warp out several times over if he has even a small tank on. A gankageddon has a chance to take out a Raven, but even that pilot needs way more sp in gunnery than the Raven pilot does in missile skills. How many uberdmg setups have u seen that can actually fit tanks.
I can kill an alts arma (20K with multifreqs 5 HS2 and 2 tech II backup arrays) with (3 energy turrets/3 amarr BS) in a Raven with a basic tank and 6 siege with varied torps and 3 PDU with 2 ballistic mods (not even fitted nos. My torp skills are at 3 and my caldari BS skills are at 2.
The Ravens cap ran out (no boosters just a cap recharger.. was a npc setup that I brought to fight the gank setup) just as the arma was at 40% armor and few seconds before my next salvo of torps hit him. The Arma died with my Raven at 85% armor. If I had a nos, things might have actually worked even more in my favor.

Ever tryed to equip SB? There is a reason they are in the game. I'll take any BS and win Raven every time if i have at least 1 SB equipped. -- Stories: #1 --

I think splash dmg from torps should be put back in game. To even the odds :) Or maybe fix the missiles.

Because gallante are SUPPOSED to be close range gods, they areent though. Ganks will gank them before they get there and ravens make poo poo out of them when they r close. ___________________________________ Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante |

Just a word about the shield tanking comments. Shield tanking is not supposed to be as cap effecient as armor tanking. People making complaints about shield tanking being less efficient on cap are not considering that shields have a natural recharge rate and armor does not.

I think they should change missile physics back to pre-castor, where missles explode on contact when they hit anything. Bring black splash damage too. Then, next time a guy shoot missles at me, his ship will explode...just like the good old days. That'll team 'em.

Torpedo's are the most effective npc weapons because they do intensive damage of 1 damage type, and you can choose the damage type. Therefore u can intensly focus on the weakpoint of the enemy npcs.
Don't even try and compare it to pvp. __

You might run out of cap in 1 minute on raven when shield boosting... but you will boost like: 624x15 shield = 9+k shield. 2x large accommodation apoc will repair 7680 armor WITH MAXED skills. Now put few hardeners on that and tell me which tank is better and has better effect on your wallet. Not to mention, that if you have maxed fitting skills, you can fit 5x bcu ontop of that, doing 4k raw damage every 11.05s with 4/4 skills. Now can apoc compare dmg to that?
Raven needs serious nerf... cause you know what ship is ultimate HAC,AF, ceptor killer? And perform just fine vs other bs?
About that guy complaning that some rats shoot defenders: what about guns hitting crap? If you would bother to put web on raven, you can hit webbed ceptor with heaviest weapon. Blaters on MT won't hit him.
And MT is supposed to be THE close range god, raven long range, but missiles are killing that ballance.
I'd really love to see this in eve for 1 week: MT with raven's pg & bonuses, but 6 missile slots. And ravens with MT's bonuses and 7 gun slots & 2x missiles. I belive it would make raven pilots think a little, when some crazy badass thorax would pwn them or at least seriously annoy them.

Edited by: Bleakheart on 17/03/2005 15:53:13 Yeah, nerf those mofo missile boats, their PRIMARY weapon is just too darn good against... Uh... NPC's! And uh... Other missile boats!

Have you used torps? If your target is 40km away they will have you half dead before your first torp hits.

But at 40K you can warp out when you like.
At 20K the range that matters, your torps will hit... and kill. Fleet ops are a different issue. Most engagements I have noticed hapen at warp in ranges to gates. Raven eats most ships for lunch at those.

Yep, and lose whatever torps you had in the air. Great plan there.

The point is not to lose torps.. they dont cost much now do they?
The simple fact is that at 40K.. you can leave the fight (if 1on1) at your free will. At the range that it matters (20K scramble) the Raven will kill most any ship/pilot of same/similar skills and regular PvP setup.

Allways fun to have discussions like this, lol.
Anyway, yes I agree with everyone saying that a MT isn't as good at close range as it should be. It most of all comes from the fact that the blasters themselves have too thight fitting req's. But im sure that the dev's know about that problem adn I hope it will be adressed.
Ill repeat it again though: Damage output showing on torpedos, DoT, is nicely fitting in between the different gun types, on top of that, its a DoT, that anyone can choose to lower using anti missile defence. That you dont isnt any of missile users problem. CCP also has another anti missile system in the working as well...
And stop comparing with lvl 3 skills and etc. Comparison should be made mostly using mostly lvl 5 skills when balancing ships. Guns perform hugely better with good skills. Missiles don't and tbh, I think of that as a disadvantage. Also remember that most missile boats also train up gunnery skills and visa versa. But I can't get my missiles to be any better at all...

Originally by: Sotka This happened less than a week ago. I was flying Apoc with 8 Pulses, my friend was flying Raven with torps. We had double Usurper (1,5mil Raven) spawn. I started hitting the first Usurper when my friend was killing the last remaining cruisers, after that he started shooting at the other Usurper. Now, what happened is: he killed that Usurper he was shooting, at that point I started to hit my targets hull!
I was at my optimal range, using MF crystals. I have 5,6mil sp in gunnery :P
So, the question is, why nerf Pulses (tbh why nerf any guns, when torps are so uber).
ok, Raven pilots say DOT is better with guns, but I realy want to see 1 vs 1 BS fight where Raven is dead before hes torps hit the target, and after they start to hit it hurts :P
I think I will be flamed after posting this topic. I dont mind I have me rights to speak :D
Here's the reason why the Raven pilot killed his Usurper faster than you did yours: he was probably using Juggernaut torpedos. While your lasers were doing EM and Thermal damage, which Guristas have good resists against, his torpedos were doing Kinetic damage, which Guristas have bad resists against. It's as simple as that. If the Usurpers had flatlined resists, you would've killed yours faster. :)

i doubt, cause: consider t2 megapulses with multis and decent gunnery skills.: That makes: 48x5.5x8/5s = 422dmg/s. Great. But tell me which ursuper hang around in <21km. So u have to use radio: 264dps if you hit everything....

So your saying a megathron at 5km will chew the raven up before the torps hit. Blasters need ALOT more damage imo for their range. I get squished by ravens easily at 5km. This just proves that the blastathron isnt the close range god. Plus that ravens can fire at over 135km with max skills aswell. I don't any blastathrons shooting that far... ___________________________________ Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante Gallante |

Just checked EVE-I. Usurper resists are:
Shield 60 EM, 70 Explosive, 50 Kinetic, 80 Thermal. Armor 60 EM, 10 Explosive, 25 Kinetic, 25 Thermal.
Amarr ships are best against Blood pirates, since Bloods are weak against EM.

talking about raw dmg here. Even raw damage of t2 guns is not all that great. Gank setups do the trick, but since blasterthron is well in range of raven torps, gank setup works well for raven too, but with slight difference: you can hit targets up to 80km(it takes time, but...) and ceptors at 500m. Blasterthron is limited to <10km(neutrons are ccp joke anyway), hitting only in 500m-6km, above that and below that dmg suck.
