Yeah, Eve ships used to be a lot brighter, and I liked it better that way. Amarr actually had golden hulls instead of muddy yellow, etc. |

Salpad wrote:CCP makes a big deal out of new visible missile launchers, but the fact is, I can barely see any detail on my ships when undocked, because EVE is so dark. The galaxy is poorly lit. That may be realistic 4-10 AU from the local sun, but it makes for a visually boring game, especially when the detail is there, just not visible.
Other computer games work fine for me, without me needing to tweak the settings of my monitor, so it just seems silly that all the visual detail is lost unless I bother to adjust the settings just for this one game.

I support new stuff is way too dark.
Space is very well lit by stars - there is not enough stuff to reflect light from. This is why you get impression of dark space.
Bring a reflective armor surface and it should be excessively bright.

Lighting is something that the art department say they're going to work on after the V3 shaders stuff is out of the way. |

Yes the game is dark and needs some color..... at least add some to high sec. GÇ£The open-minded see the truth in different things: the narrow-minded see only the differences.GÇ¥ |

I think the game is not dark enough.
Consider that the further from the sun you get, the less light. But the light in any solar system in game is constant.
Next consider that it would be more "neat" if the lights on our ships were at times the only thing showing anything.
Since the make space so good looking in the game, it would be only a good fit to make the lighting match the conditions. |

I have been with Eve since 2004, and I personally find Eve OK, if you want to look at your ship then dock up in the station or hit the brightness and contrast button, come on folks why would you want to whinge about this superb game being to dark, your in space, space is dark, next thing ccp will be putting headlights on the spaceships lol. |

How long do we have to wait for that? I actually assumed they were done with the v3 shader project now. What's left?

There's no balance to be had in this. Some people have darker displays, some people have set their displays too dark, some people have no idea how to set their displays, some people have set their displays just right.
No matter what you change, there'll still be people who won't be happy about it.
The best thing one can do, is play with the own settings on his own machine, (display, gfx drivers) instead of trying to ruin it for somebody else ... but i can hear the self entitled screaming already .............. Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

Also I am quite happy with the level of detail and its visibility. Actually I think for the most part Eve is TOO bright.
agreed. I think lighting should follow the cube square law and fall off sharply as you get further away from the sun.
