An Ex-Tusker, I Legionnaire is in the process of quitting the game due to RL reasons and has donated ~13B worth of ISK & ships to use to encourage new players to try out PvP. 3B of this ISK will be used as prizes for a Frigate FFA open to the entire Eve Community. The remainder will be used to hand out monthly prizes, but that's for another time & place. The rules for this event are simple - if you're interested in seeing & participating in the making of many explosions, come to Jovainnon on Saturday the 27th October from 20:00 to 24:00 Evetime and engage anything that lands on grid with you, including your alliance mates, blues & corpmates - they are ALL fair game. A multitude of prizes will be available, ranging from Tech 1 Frigates to Faction Battleships, as well as a few oddballs thrown in there for good measure. Neither the list of prizes or their associated requirements to achieving them will be told until after the end when the winners are announced, in order to prevent people trying to game the contest rather than simply slaughtering everything they find (or not....). Note that the best prizes will only be available for young characters (for this purpose, these are defined as characters who are less than 1 year old). Prizes will be contracted in Jita to the winners within 48 hours of the tournament ending, ideally I'll have finished this straight after the event. There are a few restrictions in place to ensure everyone has a good time, namely..... No link alts allowed - any detected will be found & destroyed, with their main being excempt from receiving any prizes. Intentionally teaming up with someone else is not allowed - FFA stands for Free For All! No podding of other participants ONLY Tech 1 Frigates are allowed until 22:00, after which time Faction & Tech 2 Frigates can be used (including Pirate Faction). You are allowed to warp off, but you can't warp to safe spots or stargates, hence you need to carry a disruptor or scrambler to prevent the enemy from escaping! No cloaks are permitted. Reshipping is allowed and encouraged - stock up on ships beforehand! We may have some hulls available, but not the modules. ECM is disallowed, both in the form of the drones or modules. We will be giving out our Mumble server details just before the event kicks off if you want to chat with us whilst we (and you!) are dying gloriously. See you there! If I feel you are violating the spirit of the event (namely many, many tiny explosions occurring), you may become ineligible to receiving any prizes.

Mostly ship hulls at the moment, although that could change. There are multiple ways to get prizes - some of them are fairly standard (most kills, most losses etc.) but there are a fair few bizarre ones thrown in. As for monitoring them, I have an idea.....

Lesson learned - even with antimatter, basic T1 electrons are not going to break anyone's tank. Also, fitting an AB to mitigate scram/web combo is not that effective when everyone else think of it, too. Never have I got in so many engagements in one day before, and personally, I prefer frig PvP anyway. However, I would have liked it better if it was in null sec or a lower securtiy status system. I ended up going from 0 to -3.1 in security status. I can see the problem with null sec with bubbles and people trying to crash the party, but it can be a drain to rat all that back up. Also, it seemed pretty chaotic at times. The first belt was just flooded with recks and ships making it hard to tell what was going on. It would be nice to give some incentive for people to spread out, but to some extent that, that was pretty cool too watching all the action happen there.

Stayed for the full event and got about 60 kills between the both of us. :) There were 130-150 people in local for the whole event and we even earned some Tidi a few times. There were literally hundreds of small fights and a few huge murderdomes (Brawl at Top Belt; Never Forget!!). Thanks Tuskers for putting this on! The prizes and battleships were awesome(I got a PLEX and a camo skirt ooh-la-la). The Tusker handing out 3 free frigs to anyone who asked was awesome, it let us stick around longer than we would otherwise. I didn't even change the names, my "Suleiman Shouaa's Rifter" was put to great use. :)

After my first experience in one of the death fests in a belt where my ship lasted about 30 seconds I hung out at the planets and found plenty of action going on there. Actually had a couple uninterupted 1v1's even. Day before the event I joined the Tuskers public chat and had a number of my noob questions answered patiently as well as an offer to help get some ships into the system. I was impressed by the helpfulness of all on the Tuskers FFA Event channel before and during the fun. The updates on the Hevrice gate activity were helpful too. My only suggestion for improvement would be more notice. Not sure if I missed something but I only saw the news item on login screen the day before. A great time and I would encourage any other PvP noobs to give it a go next time around! Thank you Tuskers!

If you have a tip on a nullsec system that's as accessible as our current area, has stations close enough that people can stage from them and is quiet enough that people trying to haul ships in can do so reasonably safely, send the directors a note and I'm sure they'll keep it in mind for our next event. (I don't mean that as a brush-off, btw, just that those are all significant factors when it comes to picking where to host something like this, especially when it's static rather than roaming.) Speaking for myself, I can hardly claim to be worried about my sec status, but it would be nice not to have to wonder whether my frig will die to station guns before I can warp off the undock... In the meantime, keep in mind that in lowsec you don't lose sec status for aggressing a pilot that's "flashy red", whether due to having a global criminal flag or being an outlaw (below -5.0 sec status). You don't have to hold back from shooting people that aren't flashy, you just have to hold back from shooting them first.

That was one of the fastest, craziest, most fun four hours I've ever had in any game, let alone EVE. Shame I had no time to watch Local for the events, I was busy getting used to a crowded overview, being drunk in charge of a spaceship, and trying to avoid warping to sentry guns. I did manage to follow the Mumble crowd down to the sun at the end. As a 4 and a half month old account I found it a great way to try out fits and tactics that I otherwise would have spent months learning in depressing 1 vs 1 fight losses and pods. I think I've learnt a lot. We'll see once my hangover clears, maybe I'll just have nightmares about top belt chaos for ever. If the aim was to boost noobs along the frigate PVP path then you've succeeded. I'm at least 2% less noobish than before Thanks to everyone who joined in, thanks to everyone who had time for noob questions and o7 to the party in Mumble. Kudos to the 99.9% of people who followed the no podding "rule". I think it got people back into the fights quicker and helped cause the huge brawls. In terms of feed back for future events, I think limiting ships to tech 1 only for the duration might be an idea, as this would help keep fights competitive between newer and older players.

Stayed the whole time which I didn't think I would since I only had time/isk to put together two ships. I can't imagine how many free ships I was given and subsequently lost but I am really grateful for the opportunity. I've only played for two months but this was definitely the best experience I've had so far, even if being in Test got me a bit of flak. If anything I've got a better idea of what area of play I really enjoy. Time to rethink my place in the 'verse.

You can then query those kills, grab the killmail, and submit it to the board. It's manual, but at least you can get every kill you were involved in that way.

Remember though you don't have to wait until the next event to do it again. Just call up a couple of guys you met at this event or corpies or anyone really and jump into low. Thats it, stuff will happen and good or bad you will learn more in an hour in lowsec than you will in a month in high. You know where we live and if you turn up unannounced we will probably hunt you, talk to us in tuskers public first and you never know what might happen, If I am around Ill happily come roam with you and teach you what little I know. Don't wait for us to put on a three billion event again (although it will happen) get out there and make your own story.. Fly fast, Johnny
