Edited by: Stephra Parle on 04/04/2005 15:16:47 OK, just for a bit of fun, if your other half served this ultimatum to you, what would your response be?
Luckily, I'm happily single at the mo, so needn't worry. All prospective partners will be indoctrinated to Eve beforehand, on condition that they won't kick my sorry @rse at a later date (which wouldn't be hard tbh!)

The game.
Any partner that served me with ANY kind of ultimatum would instantly become an ex.

Im lucky. My missus would rather I play EVE.
Says it keeps me out the pub.
Mind you, I probably drink more playing EVE than I would down the boozer.

Hmmm, choose between a game and real life?
Regardless of how much I enjoy it, the game loses.

My wife was this close to kicking me out of the house....so I fired up an account for her and put it on her PC. Now she is a hot Minmitar Slave Chick that could pod my a$$ in a second and plays more than I do.

I think it is more the amount of time spent doing it. I was spending 30 hours + a week on EVE and maybe 5 hours quality time with her. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

Well, she's made no secret of it that she doesn't like how much time it takes!
However she's not setting me ultimatums (except I can't play during our wedding day).

Edited by: Syrec on 04/04/2005 18:17:34 I'd play less, but it's just a hobbie anyways. I don't think any partner would have a problem with playing it on the weekends on a few evenings. It's when you play the game when you should be spending time with your signifigant other that it becomes a problem. You can train skills, AFK mine in an indi, and snuggle anyways.
unless you're a pirate. pirates don't snuggle

My wife is VERY cool about my EVE addiction.
However, it would be even more cool if I could convince her to give it a try. Then again, who would cook dinner?

Nice question. I'd probably ditch the game for a week or so, to go on a nice vacation with my other half, but I wouldnt stop completely.
P.S. I can work any ultimatum into a compromise, so doesnt really bother me. _______________________________________________

You must not be married. -----
Why would I do that.
Marriage is %100 for women, men have everything to lose and nothing to gain.
Doesn't make financial sense to give away half of everything you make. You spend your whole life slaving to build wealth just to have Judge Rottencrotch and your ex-wife rob you.
Thanks but no thanks.

I predict that I'd quit, then she'd find something else to gripe about, repeat.
Eventually either I'd find someone higher on my ladder (bonus points to the people who get the reference!) or she'd find some other poor bastard that was at least as wealthy as me and a lot easier to manipulate.

I'm with cabbie on this, ultimatums are humiliating and caving into one would make me less of a man and did she really want a shadow of a man anyway?
