CCP has said many and conflicting things about all upcoming ships, and titans in particular. Who the heck knows how they plan to release them in the end? Hell, I'm pretty sure *they * don't know.

ow a titan bpo should be on the market. it will just cost about 100 billion for it.

I agree that the titans BPO should NEVER be in the open market on sale by the NPC. Although it will be a huge isk sink, it will still ensure that titans are mass produced. Instead, they should all be faction only ships, meaning the BPC would only be available for doing something extraordinary for an agent (something like an uber-hard mission, that will NOT be beatable alone), or maybe even an event, or a timer, that makes sure that titans arent owned by an player with a billion isk. Please CCP, make the titans RARE, not like battleships, whereas you can see at least 10 of which flying around in busy systems. There has to be a way to limit the total number of them in game, otherwise, we're going to see the veteran people just switch to a bigger ship (no matter what the stupid isk cost) as soon as its BPO comes out. _______________________________________________

don't forget that the Titans hitting TQ will only be mobile STATIONS. They are not supposed to pwnd everything. If you want big guns go for a dread, they will be affordable, although i still hope CCP is going to make them rare also...

The titan model from yesterday's test was very disappointing. On the scanner it appears 4400m, and looking at the multiple megathrons parked next to it, it was barely 2.5 times the length.
Scale that up by a factor of 10-20 and that would be more worthy of the background 'fluff' (\_/) (O.o) (> <) "That's no ordinary rabbit!...that's the most foul, cruel and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on" |

I donŠt know... I have the feeling that the titans were scaled down due to technical difficulties. At least they seemed so. _______________________________________________

Originally by: Gierling They will need to be constructed by the players, probably with special and expensive facilities.
I've heard the numbers bandied about indicating the Devs are looking to make the Cost in excess of a trillion isk and build time in excess of 3 months.
They want to keep the numbers of titans in player hands in the single digits, and they want to make it so that building a Titan is an arduaous and labor intensive affair which requires enormous assetts and becomes focal in military campaigns.
This would definatly be working in with the "new world order" they have planned. The sort of people that would have one of these are the player owned empires.

A simple solution so that they stay in single digits: Make them faction ships. EG: Once titans are implemented, a list of the top Corps of each empire is made. Once the list is ready, the 3 first corps get the chance to build a Titan. They can then use it. Every time the titan is destroyed, the processes is redone.

Sounds like a great plan, because then the only thing everyone will do all day is trying to kill off titans... And what if someone builds one, puts it in a hangar and leaves it to rust?

get it now?
I remember hearing the same thing when the BS was released. Would be nice to have somthing UBER in this game, so long as the gankers cant have one, because if they can they all will have one. Then we all might as well never leave the stations.
The costs posted earlier "trillions", comon, like 150billion would be hard enough to obtain. (especially when you build it as soon as people know about it you will either be a GOD or the number one target by PvPers) Three months is cool though. Its as big as a small station, hope it works like one and has facilitys like clones, repair shops, and a market would be cool to.
yeah 3 months is a very resonable time to build 1 so i agree with that o and i herd ther gonna cost around 5billion isk

Titans are a step up from a POS, because they are a POS with guns that moves from system to system. Because of that it should not be possible at all for people to own a titan without their own chunk of space to support its operation. Ships like that should be a reward and help for people who establish their own infrastructure, not for people who just constantly try to destroy it so nobody without amazing fighting skills ever leaves Empire space.

Point taken...
Still, if Titans are limited in numbers and you have to destroy them to get one the entire universe is going to be after you if you ever have one.
I think Titans should be so rare that every single one is well known, and if one is destroyed it should be a big news item...

Edited by: Admiral Seafort on 09/04/2005 18:48:41 As someone pointed out, the AMARR EMPIRE has only TWO (2) Titans. So, if anyone is of the opinion that Titans should be available to such a degree that a person or entity can own more than two without tremendous difficulty, expense, effort, and time, I would like to know which person or entity in EVE is more powerful in any way than the Amarr Empire.
Clearly the Amarr Empire is just a fictional NPC entity but I'm pretty sure that even without the random spawns there are more Amarr Empire ships in EVE space at any given moment than any Alliance, and that more ISK is moved within Amarr space than any Alliance.

TITAN
OMG that Titan is HUGE!!! Look at all the little battleships around it like flies!!
This is from todays little test where a dev asked people to shoot at him to test lag stuff. There was about 50 ships and 100 drones swarming him.
I'll prolly never be rich enough to buy one but just a few questions!
1. Will Titans be available on NPC markets or will one lucky dude become EVEs richest player with a Titan BPO? 2. What skills are needed? 3. Can they dock or will players dock at them? It looks half the size of the station!
Woot im excited!
and man i missed the titan shootoff cause 14:00 GMT is 10:00 AM my time and so i was at school man thats sucks

I don't think old players should have them.. I think old, large, rich corperations and alliances should have .. them..
In my alliance I hope to see the alliance 'ceo' with one, I would like to see our military devision have one.. and that's it. You know, an important asset that you're proud to own and you get scared to lose.. but something useful enough that it can be a great ship to have at your side or in whatever system you're in.
they should in every right be a moble POS that costs a bit more (maybe 2x's the price). Any large corperation or alliance would hate losing a POS in-game.. you put a lot of time, work and heart into it. Titans should be the same way.. lots of work, isk, time..
hopefully they'll be as strong as a POS with 8 large XL guns. Guns should be as expensive and as big (volume) as XL guns on a POS. Cargo space of an industrial ship.
The ultimate fleet (ratio of ships)
1 Titan 2 Dreadnaughts 5 Carriers 20 battleships 50 Cruisers 100 Frigates
I'm hoping the Titan ends up the jack of all trades of ships. I hope CCP allows it to have more then 8 high slots.. mix with xl, large, medium and small guns.. totally self sufficient but so damn expensive and worth so much in time and isk that noone would risk flying alone. A ship that would be flown by only the most trusted alliance members.
10 battleships should NOT be able to gank it.. however, if the titan is attacked by 10 battleships it should have enough time for reinforcements to reach it. It should struggle with taking all 10 out.. not in a "i'm gonna die!" kinda way.. but a "Ok, i'm being attacked. All people within 5 jumps move into my position" kinda way. Like if a group of 10 BSs attacked a POS maybe.
I dunno what I'm thinking.. still looking for that single asset of a corperation/alliance that would give it the edge over another.. but would really hurt the corp/alliance if it gets destroyed. I'm thinking about how cool it would be for my allinace to set up large fleets to go into an enemy's space to attack their titan.. knowing they're going to lose ships in the process but in the end it being worth it. ________
