Those are truly awful news, Moby, and I'd like to offer my deepest condoleances, and warmest sympathy, to both the player and the father.
I've had the priviledge to fly with the both of you under a lot of different banners, and your skills as amazing scout pilots was -is- widely reknown. I wasn't aware that Smoske was also behind the eve-kills initiative, that alone speaks a lot for his dedication to the EVE community.
Moby, if I can be of any help, you will always be very welcome. Losing a relative is awful as it is, but no father should have to bury his own son.
Adieu Smoske.

Edited by: Darian Solatic on 09/04/2005 20:11:49 I can not even begin to describe the sadness I feel nor begin to imagine the anguish Moby is feeling. I've known Smoske for well over a year. He was a great guy and a good friend of mine. I was in complete shock to find out his passing; I last spoke to him on TS, Wednesday the 6th. I would have never thought it would be the last time we spoke. his site with it's flaws gained thousand of hits a day and contued to rise day by day. He was very prowed of his acomplishment, always excited each month he checked it's hit ratings. Though most of the members of [DIE] are inactive I know I speak for all of them when I say he will be greatly missed.

Sincerest of condolences to his family and friends.
Quote: For him EVE was THE game and he loved to play it because of the versatility and human contacts it provided him.
It just shows you that this game is all about human contact in a virtual world. In such a ways that many people will mourne his loss without even meeting him in real life. His dedication to the game, and to EVE-KILLS touched so many lives that he will most surely be missed.
It's times like these that make you step back and realise that the enemies you fight ingame are real people, with real lives, feelings and emotions. You realise it is just a game, and Smoske has given a lot to make this more enjoyable for everyone by providing a kill-board ( that has been a huge success ), and by providing many PvP orientated corps that we all have enjoyed participating in, either on the giving or receiving end of them.
Let's continue what he has started, and try and remember what EVE is all about when we are engaging, and talking in local. Is there anyway that anyone can pull a few strings on the Eve-Kills server owners and maybe dedicate the running and maintenance site to him?
Sad, sad loss,
Shaggy

Condolences to your family from VentureCorp.
Smoske was a pleasure to fly with, and against, and I enjoyed working with him in the early COD/FU days.

Edited by: MaxedBoost on 09/04/2005 20:35:33 Wow... just the other day I was sent a link to a forum thread on here and noticed smoske had a post. Made me wonder how he was doing and you too moby, haven't spoke with you guys in ages. It's been like 9 months+ since we've even engaged in conversation, the three of us. But... I know smoske was a great guy. Always very friendly and you too moby. I'm so sorry to hear the horrible news. Besides the fact he was a great frig pilot in eve, what really is important is his character, I won't forget how friendly he always was to everyone around him.
(I Just noticed, this is the wrong character. I'm EDacIouSX)
