Having seen various threads where people have talked about destroyers I was wondering if anyone who flys destroyers in PvP (limited use I know) could post some setups and the skill reqs for them.
Please note this is not a thread for talking about how destroyers should be changed, t2 destoyers, or the usefulness of destoyers as they currently are. There are other threads for that.

I was playing around with a destroyer using triple dampers and a single MWD. It would pretty much disable any ship it activates on. 100km - 50km - 25km for a battleship. Cormorant can outrange it easily, if even just for support it can pretty much stay out of targetting range. Use a damper per frigate to almost disable 3 different frigates.
It's a good EW ship, personally I think they're underestimated. Top speed of 1.1km/s with MWD but it accelerates much faster then a cruiser.
New EW changes might make this not possible. Otherwise, I would fit it like a frig. MWD, web, scrambler and maybe a cap recharger. decent support but I would rather fly a frigate for this. ________

Edited by: Veaon on 11/04/2005 17:13:21 I thought the skill reqs would be high but not that high. Can that setup stand up to t2 frigs 1 on 1?
Your EW destroyer sounds interesting. Do you use it purely to dampen targets for other hitters?
I thought it might be fun to potter about in one for a while, but with reqs that high for its worth I might aswell stay in other, better, ships.

i already factored in some of the skills you will need after the patch to be good at using destroyers(the EW/propulsion warfare skills). the comorant will simply not stand up to an assault frig simply due to its inability to fit a full complement of 150 rails and its lack of any great tank'ability. I also doubt you would be able to even break an assault frigs tank. on the other hand this will rip all interceptors and tech1 frigs to shreds in seconds. using Ew you migh be able to take on an assault frig, but fitting multispectrum jammers will simply no longer be possibe as they have an activation cost of almost 200 cap. sensor dampners will not be all that efective due to only reducing its targets range by about 15-20%. also the comorant has a large signature radius for a ship intended to counter frigs, fitting a MWD on that will further decrease you survivability(by increasing you enemeys chance to hit). another good setup use for a comorant is to rip tech 1 cruisers to shreds and heres my setup for that
7 light (...) blasters(forget which type but the ones that use the least grid 1 arbelest rocket launcher(if u have enough grid) mids AB II scram web tracking disruptr( gisti a small SB for npc'ing)
lows MAPC
dont try taking on cruisers that can spawn missiles tho. i also use this for npc'ing in .1

Though like I said with skill reqs that high I might aswell get into an assault frig or cruiser (or HAC) and be more effective. Pity.
T2 Destroyers ftw!

Yes, I try to tell a lot of people that a destroyer is NOT jsut a bigger frigate, it is a ship class in it's own right, much like interceptors and coverts, and requires a similiarly high level of to use to the best of it's abilities, albeit spread among many skills.

Edited by: Sangxianc on 13/04/2005 10:22:07 I always thought a Gankacoercer would be quite frightening:
6x Medium Pulse Laser II 2x Dual Light Pulse II --- MWD --- MAPC 3x Heatsink II
But I've never tried it out or anything (I don't fly Amarr) so I don't know. Range would be a bit low. But beams are not possible.
(PS why does it filter out "un*****ble"?)

8 gatling pusle II 1 10mn abs or a 1 mn mwd.. depending on what my low slots are.. My low slots change depending on what i am useing my dessie for. for damge. CPR's and HS II
for NPC hunting. Small armor repairer II, CPR, PDU II, adaptive nano plating (or energized nano plating.
this ia a close range set up but i have eaaten 2 taranis' with my NPC hunting set up..
no matter what you say..only frigate class ship that can take on a dessie and have a chance to walk away easily is a assault frigate..
oh..an before you ask. i have taken a scorps shields completely down and into armor in 30 seconds with this damge set up
Of course..the crusire misseisl finaly finished me off..but he was NOT a happy scorp

Putting T2 gear on a Destroyer is like putting a custom bodykit and paintjob on a chrashtest vehicle.
