Now that we are approaching the SECOND birthday of EVE and the universe seems to be in a complete state of turmoil I was wondering if there are any areas of tranquility and stability in the game
1) Who were the first 10 corps formed when EVE went live and are any of them still alive and going strong?
2) Are there any corporations that have stuck to their original goals right from the start and still have significant numbers of 'old-timers' who have all stayed together?
3) What is the most famous Corporation to have dissappeared completely since EVE started?
4) What corporations do you think will still be around doing their thang two years from now?
5) Are there any pilots who have been in one corporation since ths start of EVE (who has the longest service to one corp in the game and is still active?)
That's it

this was done about a year ago, the GM's made a list of the first 10 of everything
such as the first ten ships, first 10 chars, first 10 to kill stuff first 10 to die, etc etc.
They also had the 10 oldist chars still alive and 10 oldist corps still going and active.

3) Endless Corporation ? Techell ? Space Invaders ?
5) Lots of them, bunch in Oberon Incorporated f.i.

You know, whats always interested me to know is how many corps survived from beta to release and still exists today.
Since beta was very different and not everyone really knew how release would be, a lot of corporations built up systems that didn't work in release. So I think a lot of big corps never adapted and folded.

Not sure I can answer all your questions but will try
1) PIE were in the first 10 corps founded in retail. Can't remember all the others but m0o were there also. I seem to recall that when this was done by the devs a year ago only 3/4 of the 10 were still active...
2) We still have a good bunch of 'old-timers'. Well me anyway though at the time PIE was pretty unkown then as never made a splash in beta.
3) I would say Oracle or Endless... simply because of the rep they had built up in beta. I know that officially Oracle corp still exists but it doesn't practically...
4) MASS. There from the start and have always known what they were doing. I don't expect them to go away soon under Trigger's leadership...
5) Me... Been in PIE since day one and still love it. Occasionally when all the management stress gets too much I do get tempted I didn't join PIE till end day 1 or day 2 - can't remember anymore... so there is probably others with longer service than me.
I still, almost 2 years into this game, have never even flown (on any of my accounts) anything other than Amarrian ships Maybe I should try that sometime
Re. Wranglers point about beta corps that didn't really make it when the game went live I would name a few simply by reputation alone. Although I am sure I will upset people
TTI - I know it's still going but apart from a few months at the start they gradually declined from prominence and the gigantic reputation they had when EVE went live (maybe that was deliberate). They seem to be bouncing back a bit.
Sabaoth - Fantastic roleplayers, great story, major historical impact on this game's development - Never pulled it off after retail.
Endless - One of the most famous beta corps that has suffered a slow and gradual decline...
There are also a few other corps which I remember had major impact on the EVE world at the start of retail which have gradually drifted from that position.
When corps like Everlasting Vendetta and Xanadu did things you sat up and took notice. They are both still here pulling strings but they don't seem (to me anyway) as influential as they once were

The longest running Player created corp is :-
drum roll
ColossusTechnologies(One of the Xetic founding corps from Beta to release too), created in beta, then created on first day of release, and still running now, all-though not as big as it used to be.
Proud to say I was part of it, but the dark side turned me.
Was really hard back in release after sufferring a major blow to the corp when the long standing directors decided they didn't like they way things were going and thus "ROBBED" us, causing many months of work to vanish, and really dis-hearten people. I still hold the vendetta for the previous directors. They really ruind the first months of Eve for me and many others.

Was it Colussus Technologies who had the first BS and brought it to fight a m0o gatecamp? Or was that someone else?

Edited by: DeeCo on 11/04/2005 17:40:16 No, when we got the BS's (2 megathrons) we Joined m0o :)
Myself and VerBle, we continued to support CTEC with isk and mod gifts as it was the whole of the corp that allowed us to ba able to buy these off X-traders.
I think it was RUS that took j0rts Dominix from him, i remember that being the first BS in game.
edit (ps for some strange reason, ever since the first and only rollback in EVE, my char employment history never shows my n00b corp or Ctec, and just says I was born into m0o)

M3G4 as I know it one of the first REAL pvp corps in the game, even though it died off for a bit, it is back and running in full swing....

CTEC along with X-traders went off to fight M3g4 corp during the formation of STAIN.
They had the bistot, M3g4 didn't like all the new corps moving in, so started the war with the new and upcoming alliance. TRIGGER at the time asked for military support, and we armed up for assistance.
From what I remember, m3g4 didnt last too long against the multi stacked dmg mods and modulated energy beams. Withing a few minutes it was all over, and we came back home, all 140+ jumps of it.

I joined M3G4 back in the day as a n00b and didnt know much about what was going on I was just happy to be in a big corp with good fighters -
I think one memory that has lasted with me in eve is when I went to hakonen or obe to join m3g4 the first time I was met in my osprey by billy bob sitting at the gate with his arma (mind you this was at the time when there were no sentries in obe) and his stacked dmg mods, and he killed my bran new cruiser I had gotten a couple days before and he said "welcome to m3g4" and laughed
/me thinks about the old days

1 year, 11 months, and 4 or 5 days, can't quite remember.
SGE is the only home that I have ever known. Started it up with Rampage and Angelsfist.

I think you'll find Hadean Drive Yards somewhere up there with the oldest corps still active.
Not sure of their exact ranking though.

And i still remember that day, when i was flying my maller of doom with 3 modulated hevy beams with 13.7 damigmod and 6 stamped heatsinks. Ahhh those where the days. + the MWD with only -15% to cap and shield helped alot to hehe
I think we bankerupt m3g4 in 2 days. But at the time geting a cruser was a hard work.

Cornexant lost the first BS in the game. They and Bladerunners were among the first 3 to get a BS BPO, afaik.

Btw, MWDs didn't have a penalty back then at all. My employment history is bugged too, I was in the third corp created, Ltd Nihilism, for a week before I moved on

Oberon was formed in beta and has existed ever since release without any downtime, closures, etc. I think about 8 members are left in Oberon of the beta-era players, who would all fit your number 5 question, plus tons like myself who joined later on.

TTi was formed before the beta testing started. They were one of the first corps formed when the game went live and they still exist today. They went through a few leadership changes, but the core of TTi is still the same type of player as the original TTi. --------------------------------------------- Engineers motto; If it doesn't fit, force it. RUS has been playing since Beta phase 3 or 4 , and its was j0rt and yuew (cant spell his name) who lost their new Dominixes in 2 on 2 fight vs 2 RUS Armageddons in Curse.
Good old days ehh ppl started screaming that we had 7 1400mm on our Armageddons but in fact we used medium dual 425mm Scout projectile atrelery (yes Dual 425 , they changed them later to 650mm hehe) and 7 Gyro's dmg mod on those 425 was around 20-21 depending on the skilsl u had, it was that high becuz the Surgical strike added bonus to ur stabs back then...
good old days _______________________________________________

Oosel has actually been around forever - he was one of the first beta testers on "abacus" an archeic counting device devised in the days of Plato and Socrates.
But seriously, I know Amarr Internal Contruction where a beta corp that are still going - Gimmelots their CEO has never been in any other corp. And PIE are as old as the hills! --------------------------------------

longest stints
well i saw a guy the other day with 1yr and 11months, i think thats the longest ive seen
But in pirate corps, the longest ive seen is jokers, i think they have been in there for 1yr 10months, Tundragon has ceo 1yr 8months (but is kinda inactive). Most other pirate corps have quit then reformed and such.
