I get a lot of flames about being in an NPC corp, which prevents wars, retaliation, etc. I find this to be a bit amusing, because the complaints are simply excuses.
The reason I am so amused is that people don't seem to understand the element of clever strategy in a game that is based around such an aspect. Do I use game mechanics for my own benefit? Yes I do. Can you do it too? Yes, yes you can.
Yesterday a fellow ore thief and I decieded that it was time for a pretentious miner to die. So we blew up her Iteron V in a 0.9 system. She was hiding out in (OHNOES!!) an NPC corp for protection. Her beautiful blue explosion was worth the 2.5% security hit satisfaction. Did we lose our ships? Sure. We acknowledge the game mechanics and plan accordingly, with strategic teamwork. I respect those that have the tenacity to do so. Have a Plan. Use your head and think a bit.
For those of you who want us to go away, know that we are here to stay. We do it for the entertainment, the rush, the spice of life. No good work of fiction would be complete without a villain. We provide that for you. If our profession was nerfed illegal we would still find a way to do it, in cloaked ships or in a Raven. In a Dreadnaught or a Titan. We will have your ore and more. =)
So I implore you... stop whining, kick back, and enjoy a nice frosty Quafe.

In fact, I often give out Quafe as a consolation prize. If you would like some, head down to Gallente n00b space, drop me a convo, and I'll hit you up with a cold one.

A new day is dawning in EVE. Now not only will Empire miners have their ore stolen, but they will face Retribution and Death if they annoy the ore theives.
We're not waiting for CCP to get around to programming it. It's open season on miners! HAHhahaha! |

Except that most SERIOUS ship builders, who mine their own ore arnt stupid enough to get robbed. Personally I wouldnt buy a ship from someone who is stupid enough to mine into a jettison can. But thats just me. Your logic has failed you once again cupcake, but atleast you keep at it.

Actually, most serious shipbuilders buy their ore using bulk orders on the market. There's no way even the best trained builder/miners can mine enough to sustain any serious throughput of ships. And guess what, most of those buy orders are fulfilled by jet-can miners.
Discourage jet-can mining and you reduce the amount of minerals coming into the economy...and from rising ore prices, we can already see that too little is being mined.
But you're quite welcome to continue biting the hand that's feeding you - it's what thieves do, after all. Just be careful not to bite it clean off, or you'll be searching hard for your next meal
And I'm not expecting you to agree with me, or expecting to persuade you - if that was possible, it would have happened long before now. So hopefully we can just state our respective positions, without degenrating this into another carebear vs thief/pirate/whatever flamefest.

Who is THIS guy talking to? Oh I see his name is "Death Priest" oh well I better take that VERY SERIOUSLY, and he mentions good old Mom, hmmmm. Well, I don't get it. What does this post mean? Is he refering to the last poster? Or to ore theives? I hate to tell ya but ore theives are not teenagers, at least not the 12 or so I know, if that's what DEATH PRIEST is saying. But with a name like Death Priest it's hard to take him seriously. Of course, only guys over 50 would pick a name like Death Priest, I guess. But hey I could be wrong. |

Yer a bunch o' loons! The whole lot of you!
Personally I don't find anything wrong with people getting themselves killed in order to attack other people in high security space. It's the equivalent of a person trying to hijack someone next to a police station. HOWEVER! I do mind when people are using alternate characters to accomplish these goals. I'm not going to accuse the people here or Ashley Sky of doing this, but I do want to stress that using an alt character is by no means busy 'promoting' the fiction factor of this game. A person is born, lives a life and generates standing amongst his/her peers. This standing is thus reflected upon whenever he/she decides to do anything. Killing people in high sec space needn't be left to an alt. If you want to have fun doing it, just go update your clone, get yourself some kind of cheap ship and equipment and have at it. Simple as that. You're SUPPOSED to lose your implants when you die. It's a choice you have to make.
Also, don't go about saying that this person or that person is a 'serious' or even 'prententious' miner. I personally do solo mining into a can, which I obviously come and collect later with an industrial ship. I'm not in an NPC corp, but my ore doesn't go towards anyone but myself either. I'm busy hoarding cash so that when I've trained up my skills that I may have the money to buy the ship and equipment I want. That's my little piece of fiction.
Everyone, try and understand that EVE is a game that needs its players to build a story. Characters in a book or movie have just that, character. A random character that comes out of nowhere, does something 'life changing' all of a sudden and dissapears again doesn't exist in any good novel. All those that read Harry Potter probably got to hate Draco Malfoy due to his being such a little brat. He's causing trouble all the time and gets away with it. But at least he's still there for everyone to hate. That gives the story a bit more depth, fun and character.
Well, my rant for the night!

Good to see people taking responsibility for their actions, as always
Originally by: Cute JapaneseChick And they only steal from ******* morons who mine on highways!!!
Tell me, where is the biggest demand for ore? Check the market, and you'll see it's the highway systems. Where are prices highest? Again, the highway systems. That suggests a market crying out for more miners in highway systems. It's not stupid to mine close to your buyers.
It always amuses me that people think mining on a highway justifies you stealing from someone. By the same logic, leaving your car unlocked justifies someone stealing it. Walking down an alley at night justifies someone mugging you. Heck, at the extreme of this logic, you could argue that just being alive justifies someone killing you.

Lol, logic. THAT will surely not stick it to them.
Next someone will post something about morals and confuse the **** out of these infants. A lost battle. They are a part of the game, like so many other online games. Its what they do.

You're quite possibly right, but the contrast between the two can be useful for emphasising a point

Once again, this is a good example of the reason the miner gets killed. This latest post is an example of being pretentious, since no alts were used in the harming of this miner. The character that delivered the final blow has 5.5 mil sp.
The fact of the matter is, our miner refused to pay for our mining pass, and we offered her a good deal for the amount of ore which was being processed.
She then proceeded to threaten us with death from the alliance she was apparently supporting (in an NPC corp), and become exceedingly annoying. Them'z fightin words if you ask me.
Anyway, I'm not trying to brag about killing a hauler (ooo wow we killed a hauler) I'm just delivering a message to the carebears. Yes, haulers and barges and the like can be destroyed in empire space. Guess what... ore thieves fly haulers... so why keep whining about not being able to kill them? We just set an example. You can.
Also, about biting the hand that feeds us... we don't need your hands, or your food thankyaverymuch. Thieves and pirates, strange as it may sound, can mine/NPC/etc in times of need, even build their own stuff (OMG who woulda thought?) The only difference is, we have more fun, and loads of laughs.
In my opinion the real thieves in this game are the lucky winners of the Tech2 BPO lottery.
