This is very cool... however, is there a way to tell how much ECM you need and what type to jam an NPC rat?

Edited by: NoobSpy on 13/04/2005 04:26:46 As a general rule try using the racial jammers for the type of rat you are fighting. I don't know this for sure, but it makes sense that rats using Gallente type ships would have gallente type sensors.
Magnetometric jammers against Serpentis Gravimetric jammers against Guristas Radar jammers against Sanshas and Blood Raiders Ladar jammers against Angels
Against Serpentis I fitted 5 ECM Ion Field jammers on my Scorpion. It worked decently well. I didn't really need to tank against 2x 500k bs and a few 100k cruisers. They could still hit me once in a while. Just use one jammer on a rat. If it's not jammed activate the next jammer. If it's still not jammed activate the next one, once it's jammed start jamming the next rat. At one time I had 4 ships jammed, but also one time I activated all 5 racial jammers on one cruiser and couldn't jam it. My ew skills are really low so keep that in mind too.
Doh: Posted with my alt. oh well.

In every form of warfare, offense is superior to defense. So there's little point jamming NPCs in a scorpion since it's the worst damage dealing battleship in the game. You'll better off with a heavy hitter, and eventually fit one single jammer against the most damaging opponent.
Also keep in mind that jamming now requires a lot of training to be effective, so you'd better spend that time on improving your offense. Unless you have a gimped character like mine with high intelligence and low perception :D

That's nonsense. There is a reason why Scorpions are primary target, that's because they can totally flip the balance of the battle even when seriously outnumbered.
Against NPC it would be quite usefullif you can jam the greatest damage dealers, since that would decrease the number of instadeaths on your side more then just adding more heavy hitters.

Well you could check out eve-i.com and check out the sensor strength. Im not sure if the updated all that stuff yet. But they have all the listings for NPC, damage types, sensor strength, what they tank against...all that good stuff.

There are now two ways to tell if an NPC is jammed. Theprimary way is the Jammer timer bar under thier target icon. The otherway to tellis when thier yellow/red flashing around thier overview entry stops.
I have found that it's best to use two racial jammers on one NPC. After activating the first, wait half a cycle then activate the second, this would ensure they are jammed in case one of the cycles fails.

Yeah suuuuuuuuuuure, put that at the past tense, thank you. Unless you can afford to train the new skills very high, in which case... maybe

lol there is no way to find the set ECM on a rat haha. You can jam a rat with a Tech I racial jammer but you could also jam it with a non-racial jammer with that chance mod applying! Who knows! It's all luck!
